Leeetsss gooo!!!!
btw.. I read on some turkish websites that Oda has mentioned that One Piece will end next year.. is there any recent interview I haven’t heard of?
Really? Is it confirmed? Or is it just a rumor?
But it's kinda hard to crammed everything in just 2 years.

we'll see, because Oda's health is worrying me.

20+ years is a long time.

Random thing to ask but profile pic sauce?
It's a poster of Egghead. I got it from an online store.

I think it's just a hoax.

It doesn't make sense. Even the Wano arc took years from start to end.

If Oda wants, he can even expand this story for another decade from now. But considering how long he has been working, maybe not that long.

I believe it still needs more years. Especially since a lot of people are interested in the live action. It's possible the manga will be longer to increase the impact of the story on the world.

I've heard news like this multiple times over the years, and it has never happened the next year.

If we get all the pieces of info from important things that we have been receiving all these years, we still got a lot of informations to "complete" the story, but considering that Oda already said that we are on the final part of the journey, end of next year is a plausible date... If we don't have more "1 month break", and got some information more about Void Century and Ancient Kingdom here from VP, Elbaf won't have much more information to add, so, can be a short passage.

VP will definitely not tell us everything we need to know, he doesn't know a lot. He at best knows a thing or 2, and things we already know which the people of One Piece don't know.

Elbaph will probably have a lot of information, they're a huge (pun unintended) important piece of the story. They have the strongest army in the world, they are related to Big Mom and Shanks, it will likely be a major major arc and the WG fear them as do Emperors like Big Mom.
I wouldn't be surprised if this arc is one of the most important. Elbaph also has all the books from Ohara, Saul's there who was friends with Robin's mother, Elbaph should a ton of significance.

Another thing to also consider, giants have a lifespan of 300 years old. The Void Century is only 800 years ago, that's just 2 generations ago or so for most giants which should mean they should have some awareness of history. They will very likely have a lot of details and information relating to the Void Century.
Oda won't have them just go to Elbaph and then that's it, just fighting, there will probably be a ton of lore - they also have direct relations to Sun God Nika who is extremely tied to the Ancient Kingdom and Joyboy specifically... I think the Elbaph arc will be full of lore - there's way too many connections Elbaph has to the world of OP.

It'd be nice if we could get a Joy Boy backstory that obscures enough detail that we don't necessarily get spoiled on One Piece. I think there's a lot of information readers need to gain over the next few years that don't all seem tied with the treasure itself. We have Shirley's prediction of Luffy destroying FI, the situation with Noah, Wano's border being closed off until Joy Boy returns, the Will of D, origin of the Poneglyphs, Nefertari D Lili, etc.. I imagine we're going to get a trickle of information, and thus far he's only told us what we already knew or assumed. We all knew Joy Boy was the previous Nika and this just confirmed that. We also mostly assumed Joy Boy must have been a Pirate. All that's left is seeing a silhouette of Joy Boy that basically confirms he's a Luffy clone. Lol.

I hope Elbaf is lore intense as you suggest. Elbaf has been teased for nearly 25 years (Little Garden concluded in the year 2000). I also kind of hope we get a breather on Elbaf similar to Zou. Elbaf doesn't seem to be in mass disarray as Shanks was just there, so I can't really see some relevant antagonist popping up. Hody Jones on Fishman Island sort of made sense in being an Arlong wannabe, but it ended up being mostly disappointing. After going from the Onigashima War to Ryokugyu trying to invade directly into encountering Bonney and CP0 into a Buster Call with the motherfucking Gorosei and Kizaru leading the charge I could use a lore-dump. I also feel a break from the intensity would be nice to make Luffy's journey have some resemblance to Roger's (who wasn't 100% battling it out every island). I really hope we get to see them visit Lodestar in the near future, too.

Onto the chapter.. I really hope we get some Giant Robot action soon. I imagine that thing is going to be absolutely critical to their escape.

Not exactly how generations work, your parents weren't born 80 years ago... assuming giants have on average children at age of 100, that's 8 generations

One thing that caught my eye was how Vegapunk explicitly said Nika is a god of Elbaf. We knew they were aware of him because of Dorry and Broggy, but now it's confirmed that both the giants and skypeians worshipped the same god. I'm not sure if there's anything else like that in the series, usually the religious cultures we see are pretty insular.

I remember a ton of us being pretty sure Egghead was going to be a "breather" of an arc like Zou between Wano and Elbaf (including myself). Now Idk what to believe lol I've always figured Elbaf would have to be a massive arc to mirror Wano (complete with a mirror to the Roger flashback for Joyboy), but there was that one hint by Oda that he "probably could avoid the crew going to "that place", but the fans want them to", which I always figured was in reference to Elbaf, sooooo. Hm.

I'm not even sure what the point would be to visiting Lodestar (though I'd like to see it either way). It was described as a place to "learn about the road poneglyphs" somehow, and that Luffy had basically skipped that step.

So someone with Gear 5th was at Jaya at some point? Because part of that land went into the sky at some point.

The chunk of Jaya was sent into the sky because of the knock-up stream. Also this was way after the time of Joyboy during Noland's era, hundreds of years later. I'm pretty sure for Nika to be a mythological figure whoever he's based on would have existed hundreds of years *before* the Void Century, during (or even before) the era of prosperity we barely know anything about.

Most likely, during the era of prosperity there was some more concrete link between the giants and skypeians. Which makes sense, considering that big-ass tree on Elbaf seems to easily reach the heights of sky islands.

So none of the Jaya people new about Nika before the knock-up stream then?

P.S. Long ass read, read at your own peril.. lol.

I think some things have already been answered already. At least, can call it my headcanon.

The way I see it, we know Luffy is Joyboy, Oden said he wanted to open the borders of Wano before Joyboy returned thinking Joyboy wouldn't be able to arrive if the borders of Wano weren't open first. A closed border means no one can come in, and it means they wouldn't allow people in - until Kaido was defeated, people coming in were viewed as threats.

The Kozuki were originally the only people who understood the Ancient Language since they were the ones who wrote and created Poneglyphs, and every firstborn Kozuki was endowed with the knowledge to read/write in the Ancient Language, it was Oden's perceived role to meet with Joyboy and help him interpret understand the full history and take whatever the correct course of action would be.

Of course, Oden died, but his death served a purpose narratively which was to allow Luffy (new Joyboy) to come to Wano, defeat Kaido and be viewed as a hero - in a sense, this opened the hearts of Wano to outsiders and stopped them from believing all outsiders are threats. A huge part of Luffy's destiny (ugly term, but it is what it is) is to be viewed as a hero narratively which is why where he goes, Oda gives Luffy a villain to defeat and appear to be a hero, otherwise the world cannot trust him. This is why in places like Skypiea and Fishman Island where Roger visited, Roger did nothing to mediate in any social or political issues they were suffering from, but it paved the way for Luffy to come in, defeat the villain and become a hero.
This is why I still believe he was able to earn the trust of Fishman Island, Alabasta, Zou... I think WCI will also come to trust Luffy once Big Mom is defeated probably in Elbaph if I had to guess - why this is important to me is narratively, WCI is just too big of a territory to not become one of Luffy's allies because... the end goal in earning the trust of all these counties is to have enough forces to take on the WG (Gorose) as the end game.

As fate would have it, Oden dying doesn't mean Poneglyphs can't be understood because the knowledge isn't lost since Momonosuke never gained this reading ability for Ancient Language, Robin was born and learnt to read the Poneglyph.

Luffy defeats Kaido, and becomes Joyboy, yet Momonosuke doesn't open Wano's borders yet, why? Aramaki (Greenbull) explains why, without Kaido there to protect them from threats, they're vulnerable which is why Momonosuke understood the Samurai + Himself need to be able to fight off Admirals and keep the borders closed up until then - the Gorosei actually commended him for his intelligence, so we can assume they're training.
Wano's current geography makes them an impenetrable fortified fortress, ships can't get in easily, they'll get decimated with ease and can't be broken through easily, so the WG will not mount an attack anytime soon imo.
Once Wano's borders are open, they will be easily attacked because they'll be on regular sea level. The borders won't be open until 2 requirements are met imo:
  • They become strong enough or confident enough to fight off enemies which will probably be in a year or 2 from now.
  • AND the need for Pluton is required - we know the purpose of Pluton as stated in Water7 is to fight off any Ancient Weapons which adds credence to the idea that the WG do possess Uranus, but this is not yet common knowledge.
Fishman Island to me parallels with Cocoyashi Village.
Luffy defeated Arlong which saved Cocoyashi village and he destroyed Arlong Park (the room inside it specifically) because to Luffy, it represented Nami's suffering and symbol of slavery.
Fishman Island is the parallel to this imo, but from a Fishman to Human relationship. Fishman Island is symbolic of Humans (WG's) racism and oppression, and sometimes for Luffy, destroying things that symbolise pain is his way of helping people free themselves from their trauma, I think he destroys Fishman Island for that reason - Madame Shirley's vision looks evil, but not all destruction is evil, it can have good reason behind it.

Another thing is we know the Noah is supposed to be moved by the Sea Kings controlled by Poseidon. It is heavily suggested in chapter 621 that Noah's purpose is to help move the Fishmen to the surface.
Fishmen have always wanted to live on the surface and see the sun which is why the Fishman Pirates were called Sun Pirates, the Sun is symbolic with Freedom which ties in with Sun God Nika, the liberator.

Wills are things that people inherit. Whether it's from inspirational stories or having desires. I think D. just refers to the name of the Ancient Kingdom who had a philosophy completely opposite to that of the WG's which is slavery. Always thought the Will of D. just meant the will to bring freedom all over the world.
This is probably why we see that Shandians, Fishmen, Lunarians, Bucaneers are all related to Joyboy or the idea of Nika saving them. They're all seeking freedom, and Joyboy's goal was to help them live harmoniously, but the WG do not want that. They want to enslave everyone.

And I think Nefeltari Lily was a friend of Joyboy, well she's a D. so that makes sense to me. Imu says she's responsible for the Poneglyph being spread around the world, It's quite fitting that Vivi is now secretly a SH, or rather, has always been, so would be nice to see how they come together.

One thing I'll always believe is the One Piece is just the 9 Poneglyphs (Real Poneglyphs/Rio Poneglyphs) that detail the truth.

In retrospect, I expect Elbaph will give us some major lore or give us more enlightenment on who Nika is as a god, and surely, their royal family must really hold some deep historical knowledge that they can pass on, I'd be surprised otherwise.
I do strongly believe Big Mom will end up being tied to Elbaph assuming she is alive of course.

Tangential to your post: This reminds me, do we know for a fact Poneglyphs are made of seastone? We know the Kozuki know how to read and write on them, and that seastone is (was?) manufactured in Wano, but afaik the Poneglyphs have only ever been described as "indestructible". For example, Robin touches them just fine so I was always under the impression they weren't seastone.

I don't think it's necessary for nika to have been around that long before. Most countries in OP seem to be monarchies... and it's likely this structure precedes the WG. It's speculation of course but the most likely scenario is that wherever nika ruled, if he did rule, he was regarded as a god. And the 20 kings when defeating his kingdom took over the role of gods. I think an scenario roughly like that is probably the best fit for the planet/celestial body thing the gorosei have going on.

Unless Caribou tells Blackbeard about Pluton and decides to crush the borders using his quake power + Burgess’ strength + Pizarro’s island fruit + Wolf’s size. At this point, they might be the primary reason Oda had Yamato in Wano too.

Let's not forget that they can now copy Saturn and we still don't know why, but they're targeting the WG... and probably they kidnapped Koby and Garp to try and meet the Gorosei for this sole purpose.

Are they trying to fool the marines and end this buster call... only to call it again against Marie Geoise?
Because now they could do that while the Gorosei are elsewhere (no one knows about Imu, so he cannot do anything to prevent that)
