always fun to see Black Cat mentioned, it's one of the first anime I ever watched and also one of the first manga I ever read
I'd put it as a dark horse (cat?) pick for WSJ manga that deserve a remake and Yabuki is established enough to warrant that if anime production companies were ever looking for a WSJ remake. Also him and my GOAT Shinohara are related by marriage and I find that an incredible fun fact.
There was some rumors about the anime getting a remake/reboot since it suddenly opened a official Twitter account just for the anime in 2023 but so far nothing announced but the account is active and the anime will celebrate 20 years in 2025, so who knows.
Btw, the most recent Black Cat illustration by Yabuki in September:
A average of 5k drop for Akane and Witch Watch compared to their last release with similar number of days, but expected due to low stock, what it wasn't expected is Sakamoto to actually sell better than last volume lol
Hopefully Kill Blue will be on Oricon next week so we will have the actual numbers.
It's actually so good to look back at because I think the animation's aged really well (manga art is naturally fantastic) and holds up well today. I remember the filler being very good too because I did a reread like 2 years ago and felt like bits were missing that the anime filler had that expanded a lot of the surrounding cast who deserve way more screentime.
This is actually the closest to a family dynasty in WSJ I think, (Shinuki or someone more knowledgeable feel free to correct) unless we stretch and consider manga power couples who were big in WSJ and other manga magazines like Togashi and Naoko Takeuchi. Assuming this is true, it's kinda wild given the magazine's long history we've never had mangaka related to each other, like surely a parent-child pair (or any other relation) would've popped up somewhere.
You would be surprised on how Japanese manga fans on Twitter are really unaware of simple informations like these compared to the the ones in forums, i remember when Agravity Boys was axed and fans would be tweeting about how they're looking forward to the week chapter without having any idea the news the manga got axed was already everywhere in the Japanese forums but no one would talk about it on Twitter, while you have literally thousands of comments being made daily on Japanese forums about the ToC rankings, you will not find any person talking about it on Twitter until Monday release
Kagurabachi getting its first pop-up shop...!! Haha, sorry if its a little embarrassing I keep posting little things like this but it's honestly really nice to see as someone who followed and supported the series from its rough beginnings that it's now actually like, woah, super popular now...!! Makes me really happy for some reason.
Not necessarily, think about it, why would they axe series that decline but still sell more than all the new ones who also rank like trash ?
Well, asides for kill blue and his catastrophic toc and maybe Kiyoshi, I don’t see wsj axing either Nue or Astro

Why you think Nue will not axing (Astro aside)? Nue is not selling 30k (All vols are selling less between 28k-29k) and in bottom recent weeks, how you think Nue surviver will possible?

Ever since Saito took over, the rankings are a mess and everything's less predictable. Also we can't be having this conversation about Nue being axed because it can't hit 30k, we've had it a whole bunch already... Unless you're aiming to help us get to 2000 pages, then try your best mang.

Will they do human trafficking to make it really special?
Congratulations, I'm so happy for you-- Wait, we're on the same side. Man, it's all Rakuzaichi, huh? Would've worn a Samura badge with pride.
