6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.

PREDICTIONS TIME!

likely bets:​

• kagurabachi gets an anime announcement at some point this year, popularity keeps rising and we get more focus on it as the magazine shifts priorities
• veteran returns but is in a KB type beat where the manga starts strong but then gets less attention in toc/sales (syd craft counts for this since it just came out)
• gfc winners are still nowhere to be seen but a different set of newbies come
• magazine has big house clearing so that new EiC can usher in a new direction for wsj going forward. exorcist slop stops and we get more focus on a different industry trend, which will likely be the comeback of fantasy
• new gag manga appears, people grumble because it's not up to their tastes. bonus points if it is actually bad and sharkbait is the only one hyping it
• new battle manga appears and people end up in a kagurabachi 2.0 situation where it slowly dominates after getting meme'd on for being itself
• jump trends in a more positive direction with new series, competition is really tight again versus 2024's roster. things like astro get axed and kill blue/nue get some side-eye as intial competition begins.
• kiyoshi lasts one more round and gets remembered as a cult series that had more potential. phantom seer type situation. astro is this era's samurai 8.
• chojo survives much to everyone's chagrin but mine
  
  plausible happenings:
  • One Piece publishes less chapters than people like but we actually make it past Elbaf. HxH publishes more chapters than people realize, but we don't make it past the arc. I am still uncaught up to HxH despite getting spoiled at some point by a major event.
  • Signal All Red wins GFC and breaks the curse. Magazine ends up trending less battle heavy because of this trend of newer light-hearted series that focus more on sol/comedy with fantastic elements.
  • a spokon debuts but doesn't survive.
  • anime sales for 2026 shows are good, and akane has been announced with a possible release for this year (it was cooking in the background)
  • ichi the witch has its kagurabachi moment later in the year with some new developments. these two manga prop up the magazine alongside sakamoto/akane
  • witch watch anime does really well and gets a second season fairly fast. it ends up as a popular rec for comedy anime whenever the question comes up in the next few years. we also get another sket crossover in the manga. however, not close to end as we enter another period of comedy hijinks while the plot takes a backseat
  • undead unluck s2 happens, but this time around gets more attention for some reason — possibly manga ending or popular OP. suddenly people change their tune and realize this was a cult hit all along.
  • yozakura s2 brings in new manga sales and is a better sakuga season
  • speaking of sakuga, sakamoto isn't that good/fluid but it's not abysmal. people still get mad because manga readers have overhyped it for them and they can't figure out why till they read it.
  • elusive samurai comes closer to ending, possibly even over by the end of the 2025 calendar year or 2026 q1.
  • One Piece reboot casting news gets a lot of scrutiny as no one sounds like their Toei versions. People then fuss about who they prefer. Worst offenders are Luffy/Zoro.
  • Shinobigoto actually does decent and ends up Yozakura level popular.
    unrealistic but here you are:
    • roboco ends after the movie. we only have chojo and the aforementioned new gag manga for a while.
    • a team sport spokon debuts and has a nue type situation going on where it feels potentially good but doesn't climb out of middle toc/sales. the team sport is most likely football/baseball
    • magazine poaches more mangaka from elsewhere. likely candidates are hiro mashima and fukuchi tsubasa.
    • we actually have no successful veteran return this calendar year, or until the very end. every manga that debuts this year is from a failed series or a completely new mangaka.
    • a cult hit hobby manga happens. the hobby is toy focused OR fishing. bonus points if there are powers involved.
    • we get a series that's so close to another failed series in premise, but it ends up successful. unfathomable amounts of comparisons are drawn.
      lmao you wish:
    • astro gets immense boost and surpasses kagurabachi, which ends up controversial due to comparisons drawn to real life events. somehow astro is fine despite its content but a tournament arc happening around the same time draws viewers away.
    • kagurabachi actually gets animated this year, jump realized they had to make it happen asap. studio is ufotable/bones
    • akira amano returns after finishing up ron kamonohashi in jump+. ron doing ok and a surprise reborn announcement draws a lot of hype to this new manga, but it kinda plateaus for a while.
    • furudate returns and it's a haikyuu sequel. he had literally nothing else in the tank.
    • Kubo publishes the [redacted] arc or more Burn the Witch. these tie into the anime changes that are coming with cour 4 of Bleach TYBW.
    • WW attention gets Sket Dance a continuation.
    • Ryoko Kui debuts a new manga in WSJ. The internet fucking explodes.
    • The magazine enters such a turbulent era our toc posting is in shambles and we cross 500 pages by the half year mark because we can't agree on what's going to survive. Sharkbait places his bets on the worst one and it's the only one that lives AND does well. The rest of us do inward reflection on it and eventually come to appreciate it, but with a lot of groaning.
      
      
      Ok I had a lot going on here, didn't wanna make too many series/sales predictions because I think things won't be super predictable and I just wanna enjoy the ride, so these are mostly for fun with some serious observations thrown in. Alright, its that time of the year once more. So let's get our tinfoil hats and make some predictions!

Current series;

• One Piece; Elbaf will end this year while a new arc is prepared around late Fall.
• Hunter X Hunter enter hiatus once more around the first batch.
• Mission Yozakura Family; Ends naturally during the first batch
• Undead Unluck; Ends naturally during the first batch
• Me and Roboco; Will continue to next year as always
• Sakamoto Days; Anime will boost sales in a steady way. Series continues as normal.
• Elusive Samurai;The final battle begins but will not end this year.
• Witch Watch; Will continue this year fine.
• Blue Box; Series continues as always, but hitting at its end by next year.
• Akane-Banashi; Anime announcement and the third final arc of its story begins.
• Kill Blue; Cancelled around the second batch.
• Nue's Exorcist; Continues as always. No anime announced
• Kagurabachi;Sales keep increasing with each volume, while the series tracks on with an anime being made behind close doors.
• Super Psychic Policemen Chojo; Cancelled by second batch of new series.
• Astro Royale; Series will go to its first year but afterwards it will decline to the point of axing.
• Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi; Series will become stagnant till its unfortunately axed by its second batch.
• Himaten; Series will become stagnant and get the can with Ultimate Kiyoshi via second batch.
• Ichi The Witch; Series become a hit and remains a mainstay for the foreseeable future.
• Shinobigoto; Series is axed by the second batch of new series.
• Hakutaku; Dead man walking, get axed by first batch.
• Syd Craft; Series will be a hit better than Kill Blue with sales being steady.

New series and authors:

Returning veterans(Failed, from a different magazine, and successful):

• Masayoshi Satoshou debuts a sport series
• Tadahiro Miura returns with a new ecchi battle series, the series in question being based on his Gundam inspired one shot or his newest Fantasy one. Its either one.
• Togo Goto and Kento Matsuura return with a new series
• Hiro Mashima debuts a new series
• Hiraga Minya returns with a historical fantasy series.

Newcomers ( this one is a exciting, so get ready for some new names);

• Natsuki Osonoe makes his debut series inspired by Tate Roll.
• Shirokuma Shirasaki(GFC 2022 winner) finally debut with a romance action series
• Kuji Tabigoro(GFC 2023 winner) debuts with Canvas Stella
• 2 Former contestants of GFC will debut series. Inclined to believe its Reiya Machida and maybe Hideaki Nabe or Yuufo Gakuji that will debut series
• Itsuki Takegamo debuts his own series inspired by Denden Knight
• Shuhei Tanizaki debut his own series inspired heavily by his one shot " Ware wa Ryujin"
• Yu Odoraiba debut a Sci Fi series
• Jun Harukawa debut a Yokai detective series.

Also, now that we are in the new year for the magazine I think its time we did our usual thing:

Ranking the GFC one shots and saying which authors are the most likely to debut at their current level.

I will go first:

First place: Signal All-Red by Izumi Hakase, this I feel like is the most obvious winner of the lot and justly so. Given the fact the author in question was mentored by an author many think did not deliver in many ways, it’s very impressive.

Second place: Osamu by Sengi Chiaki, I felt this one shot really was made with Weekly Shonen Jump in mind, it had a lot of heart and some peculiar things going around that was somewhat reminiscent of the likes of series like Power Rangers and Karmen Rider. To me it was both okay but very well made and the author made considerable improvements on his own art style and paneling that made it that more fun to read. I would love to see the author debut a series like this, but refraining from utilizing massively OP Mc would be more interesting storywise.

Third place: Fukkatsu Shin Hanzaki by Kazuhiko Ookawa not gonna lie it was a humorous tale but I felt like the story was fine but it was nothing out of the ordinary in itself, but the art style was a bit rough but it has a lot of characters and it shown during the story, which delivers quite well. I think he doesn't win but I do think he has the making of an author who can deliver a series similar to Sket Dance or Gintama if he tries hard enough and that's some mighty praise I can give.

Fourth place: Invisible Blood by Arasaka Asahi, let's get out of the way and say that both art and paneling wise, the author nails it to a hundred. But the massive downside was the overall plot, it was way too cliche and obvious for a reader, their previous works would have worked way better than the one he made for the competition itself. Its sad, but there's not much that can be done and hope they learned from their mistakes. The potential is there but it need to avoid the obvious traps like so many others before it have done.

Fifth place: Rasotsu Yokai Gari by Yoshida B6, by far the worst one of the entire batch for a few reasons but the main one was its paneling and story, I felt Invisible Blood delivers their plot relatively better than this one because it actually focus on developing the duo during the story while for this one the plot was honestly all over the place and was having a bit of a hard time following the plot because the paneling was not helping things much. Overall, I think this author should practice his stories and paneling a bit more before he considers debuting an official series in the magazine itself.


Now for the ones I think could win are between two very likely candidates that some may or may like: The first being Arasaki Asahi, given the fact that the one shot itself reached like 1.5k likes on the official Jump Twitter account, and Izumi Hakase, that had a similar feat. Regardless if either both or one loses their both obvious targets for potential debuts. Whether they debut this year or not is uncertain but its likely they both will debut eventually. I will say the same for the likes of Kazuhiko Ookawa and Sengi Chiaki as both have great potential, while Yoshida B6 I felt was the one that most needs improvements.

Jujutsu Kaisen: news about season 3. Maybe season 3 airs near the end of 2025.

One Piece: still in elbaf

UU: finish q1
Yozakura: finish q1

Blue box: still continues as usual. Maybe it will conclude in 2026. Season 2 announced.
TES: still continues as usual
Witch watch : anime does not give much boost

Sakamoto: anime give lukewarm response

Roboco: roboco is eternal

Nue: sales remains stable but still sub 30k or just above it. Likely remains below 40k. No anime. Maybe it will get light novel

Hakutaku: axed
Syd craft: axed
Kill blue: axed
Astro: axed
Chojo: axed

Himaten: somehow managed to coast along as mid ranker
Shinobi: toc drops
Kiyoshi: axed

Akane: finally anime announcement
Kagurabachi: continues the upper trajectory, get anime announcement. Hokazono starts getting sick and get the frequent breaks that JJK, mHA and BC used to get.

We will see the winner of the battle shonen manga award getting serialized (the competition which is judged by Gege, Hori, Tabata and Kubo).
2 or 3 GFC winners getting serialized, all axed due to the curse.
