Is your formula correct? I don't understand how Kill Blue is lower than Hakutaku.

My guess is the last 8 chapters include the time before Hakutaku was getting ToC placement based on performance, so it includes a few mid-rank spots, whereas Kill Blue has been sitting in the bottom 5 for awhile. So even if Hakutaku’s been consistently below it in ToC the past few weeks, it has a little bump from the semi-random placing of the earlier chapters.

I don't calculate pre-rankings (So I'm not using 8 rankings for Hakutaku). Here are my calculations.

Hakutaku:
(15+21+19+21)/4=19.00

Kill Blue:
(21+19+20+20+19+18+20+20)/8=19.63

Didn't do predictions last year - this is more of a prediction and wish list (without being too optimistic) combined.

Established series:
  • One Piece will still be in Elbaf arc throughout 2025; Robin will have her massive cathartic moment, we'll be building up to Usopp's too. Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates will start off as an antagonist force or presence before it shifts towards the God's Knights. There will yet again be 32~ chapters published throughout the year and will also have a 1.9 average TOC ranking for 2025. Will be #1 selling manga of Oricon 2025 due to nothing blowing up quite as intensely and JJK winding down.
  • Hunter x Hunter will take a shorter break/intermitant pauses throughout the year but at the very least manage until the end of the 420 batch. Possibly in 421+ by the end of the year. Volume 39 will feature Benjamin/Halkenburg. Two members of the Phantom Troupe die - probably Bonolenov and Shizuku, all hell occurs on the ship and we're firmly in the final stretch (which could probably go until around 430-450 eventually).
  • Mission: Yozakura Family and Undead Unluck will end together in the first batch of 2025. MYF fans are happy, UU fans are mixed but net-positive.
  • Me & Roboco gets a sequel anime announced either in the form of a second movie or a second season. If the latter than something akin to Saiki where they started combining the TV shorts and run instead as 'full length' episodes. For majority of issue in the year (when HxH is on hiatus again) it will be the second oldest published title in the magazine. Bleach, Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma, Assassination Classroom covers/parodies.
  • Sakamoto Days will be the third best ranked series in the TOC for 2025. First cour in winter will get a mix of decent reception/disappointment, second cour in summer will be when it blows up more. Sales end up being around 200-250k in a month. Will be in top 5 of the Oricon 2025. No final endgame stretch in sight yet.
  • The Elusive Samurai gets a time skip where Tokiyuki is in his 20s, entering the final arc/section of the series; one or two of his close friends will be killed and looks certain for a 2026 conclusion. Season 2 has even better adaptation than the first, which is already stellar. No major sales push beyond what we have already. No season 3 announced.
  • WITCH WATCH will have its final stretch of comedic chapters throughout 2025. Nico will return to being a teenager, and the final climax/doomsday part of the story will be underway in the second half of the year bleeding into 2026. The anime will give it a 10k boost, maybe overtaking Akane-banashi for the time being.
  • Blue Box will be the second best ranked series in the TOC for 2025, after One Piece. Chinatsu will win in her final tournament. They will kiss. Chinatsu will graduate and the series will be entering its final stretch following Taiki in third year. Will still be running but feels like one that will end in 2026.
  • Akane-banashi will get an anime announcement; originally I envisioned Jump Festa 2025 (next month) but if not in the first half of 2025, possibly by third anniversary. Announced for Fall 2025. I'm stealing the idea that it's done by Madhouse because I like it. No end in sight. Sales will keep dipping slightly but if anime does air by the end of 2025 then it'll see a healthy boost back above WITCH WATCH and The Elusive Samurai in the first volume post-anime. It will remain my favourite series of the year (bold, wild, crazy prediction, I know).
  • RuriDragon will continue as it's been doing with occasional longer breaks while still bi-weekly. Volume sales in a month will stay around here volume 2 is at, maybe dip slightly. We'll get to see her dad within the series and they'll be some revelation of him sleeping with her mother when he was in some sort of humanoid form.
  • Kagurabachi will be the 5th/6th best ranked series in the TOC for 2025. Five covers throughout the year. Volume sales won't go beyond 170-180k in a month, stay around there. No anime announcement. Hiyuki will become more integrated into the story which will have a more defined 'trio' at the centre ala Naruto/JJK.
The 2023 floaters:
  • Nue's Exorcist won't be cancelled, will still be ranking in the bottom half of the TOC most weeks, and won't get an anime announcement. I still envision it being in the ~150 chapter range so won't end in 2025 naturally either.
  • Kill Blue ends in either the first or second serialisation round of the year. Has an occasional chapter outside the bottom between now and then but still ends up one of the worst ranking non-newbie flop series of 2025 in the TOC during its final stretch.
New 2024 series:
  • Super Psychic Policeman Chojo ending in the second serialisation round of the year; will just pass its first anniversary, so somewhere around the ~60 chapter range. No anniversary cover, but that would be its last (or possibly second last) colour page.
  • Astro Royale keeps chugging along, almost a perm-bottom 5 series that never is quite doing the worst at any given time. By the end of the year it will be the average lowest ranked in the TOC for all established series over a year old. Sales continue to lower with each volume until it approaches around ~20k in a month.
  • Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi ending in either the first or second serialisation rounds of the year, doesn't make it past 40 chapters.
  • Hima-Ten! lives somewhere in the mid/second half of the magazine. A notch above Astro Royale but decently safe for the time being. Volume sales also meet around Astro Royale's level ~17-20k in a month. Including a slight chance this gets cancelled late-2025. There will be two more girls introduced throughout the year and one confession (Kanna?) that is rejected.
  • Ichi the Witch is a pretty big hit, gets a cover between now and the first serialisation round of the year, and two more throughout the year (one being its anniversary). First volume is around 40k in a month and it grows slightly from there but nothing major. Ends up being in the top 5 best TOC rankings in 2025, either 4th of 5th.
  • Shinobi Undercover makes it mid-way through the year, being cancelled somewhere in the 30-40 chapter range. Sells around 8-9k in the first volume in the first month.
  • Hakutaku cancelled in the first round of the year. Abysmal Shoseki numbers.
  • Syd Craft: Love is a Mystery gets cancelled before the end of 2025 due to a flux of romance series, just before it can reach chapter 50. Initially gets a bunch of colour pages and decent good/decent rankings; basically follows the Chojo trajectory. Volumes stay in the ~10-15k range.
Returning mangaka:
  • Kento Matsuura/Tougo Gotou (Phantom Seer) come back with another well-drawn flop.
  • (unlikely) Koyoharu Gotouge returns either with a mini-series or the aforementioned Sci-fi romantic comedy; if so, first volume sales are in the 100-120k range.
  • Naoshi Komi (Nisekoi) with a drama that survives throughout 2025.
  • Tadahiro Miura (Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs) returns with an ecchi/battle manga, similar energy to Nue's Exorcist but with more boobs, and lives throughout 2025.
  • Seiji Hayashi (Ichigoki's Under Control!!) with another gag series.
  • Tite Kubo published Burn the Witch Season 2 (please, Kubo - this one is a wish). It will be at least two volumes long, still with a decided length from the start. If it does run long enough to be ranked it'll be quite high, in that case landing in the top 5 average by the end of the year, pushing out either Ichi the Witch or Kagurabachi.
Newbies I hope/think will get serialised (bold for one shots turned into series):
  • Ei Yamano (Follow Me, Ghost; Tonari no Home)
  • Hideaki Nabe (Youhei no Hen)
  • Kuji Tabigoro (Canvas Terra - GFC winner 2023)
  • Mugina Muji (0088; Usemono Sagashi)
  • Natsuki Osonoe (Upano Rupako wa Ippanjin, Tate Roll)
  • Reiya Machida (VROOM!!; Kadomori Shitei no Nichijou; Mememto in Kowloon)
  • Shirokuma Shirasaki (Koi no Yobi no Sezaki-san - GFC winner 2022)
If Tate Roll is serialised it becomes a very buzzy series from the first chapter, survives throughout 2025 with strong initial rankings and/or volume sales. And if we get Canvas Terra it would probably be a flop or surviving barely but my personal prediction is it would be my favourite new series of the year - lots of potential for a great fantasy adventure story that plays into the emotions. I'll have that as my series I'm sad didn't success like I have for GGG in 2024.

That's 13 names when we might not even get that many, or just reach that amount. Some other names I could throw out but I'll stick with that.

Other predictions:
  • Black Clover is still ongoing in Jump GIGA by the end of 2025.
  • Signal All Red (Hakase Izumi) will win the GFC, no serialisation this year.
  • Both the 2022 and 2023 GFC winners will be serialised this year; at least one won't make it until the end of 2025.
  • Another witch/wizard/magic manga is serialised
  • At least two romance/romcoms start this year, so at one point we'll have five (if you include Blue Box) running at the same time before two of them get the cut by the end of 2025.
  • One hybrid-genre sport series (either gag/drama/borderline camp in presentation). Unlikely: football/soccer.
  • Rokudenashi Blues or Rookies anime announced.
  • Every anime announced from now on will have the same Netflix deal as Blue Box/Sakamoto Days
@Shinuki no Reborn no GFC poll or #52 voting poll this week?

@ItsSamu I’m hoping Naoshi returns with a fantasy series, because I think that’s where his art really shines. My guess is, it’s going to be very much DA 2.0

Do you think the titles from 2024 will be dwindling down to 4 series or 5? Cause there is no way all 8 will survive for another year.

I think this year we have quite a bigger number of predictions compared to last year, hopefully a good sign for us reaching 1000 pages even sooner too, we can do it!

I also just realised I never posted my 2024 issue 52 review for all the chapters. Would now be an appropriate time to do that?

"Gotouge commented that they are thinking of penning a science fiction romantic comedy story as their next project"

Gotouge didn't have any breaks and gotouge was still doing a lot of color pages towards the end.

The art was consistent and even the last 2 chapters of demon slayer each had 35+ pages.

I don't think gotouge had that many problems with the weekly schedule and goutouge isn't very old (only 35) so I don't see a reason why they wouldn't return.
