One Piece with less than 30 chapters in a year would be wild, hopefully it doesn’t come to that. Oda is doing back to back after his break so just need him to maintain that pace. 3 volumes should happen with that since we already have enough chapters for another volume and 2 more next year sounds good

If Oda takes no extended breaks (which we know won’t be true) it’d be something like 36 chapters right? (52-4=48 for holiday combined issues, and he takes a standard break after every set of 3 so 3/4 of 48) So if Oda took 2 3-week breaks outside of his regular schedule, it’d still be 30. I could see it going either way depending on how busy Oda gets and how much stuff happens around him. The past 3 years have had a volume in November, and that was an improvement from 101 in December of 2021, so I think it wouldn’t be too hard for Oda to still release 3 volumes. Again, time will tell how many breaks are needed.

Before we get the first issue of 2025, here's some of my favourites of 2024 to wrap up. Time to display my spreadsheet compulsions.

I give a rating (/100) for every chapter throughout the year and tally in my WSJ spreadsheet bible. Here's all my ratings for every chapter published in 2024:

• For the final ranking of the series on the right, it's mostly accurate to the average ratings throughout the year but I generally re-order based on what had the most peaks and was enjoyable week-to-week.
• 2024's average rating (75.13/100) is the lowest of the decade for me so far which has decreased year by year: 2020 (78.65), 2021 (78.44), 2022 (78.01), 2023 (76.62). If 2025 does play out like I hope with most of the established series ending being ones lower on my list then hopefully it breaks the trend.
• Issue #10 was the best of the year for me (80.05/100), which has two chapters that were in the year top 10 (One Piece ch1106 + Akane-banashi ch96) as well as Sakamoto Days ch153, the series' best chapter of the year, and the Haikyuu!! one shot.
• Akane-banashi ch130 was the only 100/100 for me this year.
• Yokai Buster Murakami is tied for last place with chapters 11 and 18 for the worst of the year
• WITCH WATCH had the biggest range of best to worst chapter ratings for the year: Chapter 165 (83/100) and Chapter 161 (33/100)

Lots of certified yappers this year and plenty of fanwars that I tried not to get toooooo wrapped up in. We'll need to invest a new Kagurabachi vs Nue by the mid-year to keep it going. Looks like I only commented 37 times after the state of the magazine in 2023 pissed me off and I got less involved. I'd be curious to see the list of those with the highest likes/comment ratio (but I'd imagine the logistics of that would be difficult)

36, but you were also less active in 2022 with 59 comments too, tbf i had to carry 2022 thread in my back with 1.300+ while Mankichi was the 2nd with just 300+, a transitional year.

The list of most comments is just a button that shows the entire top list of who commented, but likes would have to manual unless the administration has a tool to know, gonna ask later.

Akane: Anime out October 2025. Doga Kobo.

Being totally honest,I always thought Akane would probably be Science Saru. The Rakugo scenes are in more,for lack of better term,cartoony direction that I don’t see Doga Kobo really pulling off.

Kagurabachi: Reaches 250K and anime is announced. Bones.

It is entirely possible that Kagurabachi could be picked up by a Western Studio. Realistically something like Flying Bark Productions but I can see something like Dreamworks. Kagurabachi is still way more popular overseas than in Japan,right?

Akane Banashi anime by Science Saru. My other major predict is Kawaguchi in next Jump batch.

Akane Banashi: Anime is announced and sales won't increase, it will keep being stagnated.

How? Akane Banashi has an actual healthy fanbase in Japan and it should get an easy boost similar to the TES one.
