Man, shipping doesn't have to be based on canon materials.... i have seen Sukuna x Toji and they both have never met in canon, ever.

DekuOcha is super cute, likewise Bakudeku

Ocha is so cute and pretty, i love her.

BakuDeku was canon thought. Nothing justified the outcome we got in the epilogue. Actually it was offensive.

Tempted to not even finish buying the manga. Just so dissapointing. I wrote so much BakuDeku fanfiction too and all I got was this garbage from Horikoshi's editors. Ugh

Dissapointing.

Shipping is gods greatest gift to humanity but the fallout on my TL today from people who genuinely expected a BKDK ending has been blissful. Half the fun in this kinda stuff is understanding exactly why it can't be canon and just making shit up as you go along because it's fun or you think it's cute or, y'know, just because you want to. It should always be a sandbox, not a brick wall. For their sakes I hope they learn that for themselves one day.

My votes for the week, are:

1) Hunter x Hunter: The most complex and yet fascinating game to help understand what this character is about and their motivations. But the game is over now that Martial Law is now acted.

2) Blue Box: Chinatsu’s father has really made this new dynamic more hard. But at the same time, it helps to get a deeper look into him knowing how her affects Chinatsu.

3) Shinobi Undercover: A really great fight with a lot of good comedy. But I wonder how he was able to get those threads and then bunch them together. It makes no sense and yet I don’t care cause it’s funny.

And for my number 4 is Mission: Yozakura Family and number 5 is Hima-Ten!.

I don’t use Twitter, but sometimes I am tempted to just look at all of the batshit insanity that goes on there.

Especially with this discourse. I legitimately cannot understand how people come to the conclusions that they do. Are we reading the same manga…?

All right. That feeling is valid and I can relate

I don't think this is caused by the editors, though. Hori is still responsible for the story. Even if editors can give suggestions, and the end of the day it is the mangakas call & responsibility

Nothing that dramatic, just decided I'd finally start doing my part to help you guys get to 1000+ pages again I guess, lol. But I don't want to derail the thread with more mha takes so back to lurking now, probably.

@SharkBait you can just buy the last vol but tape the face of who you do not want to see with a washi tape... (half serious suggestion here...)

May just do that...but ugh the chapter has ruined my day. :(

Wish they would have learned from Kishimoto, even Boruto keeps SasuNaru canon with how touchy feely SasuNaru is, Sasuke is Boruto second parent vibes, and non essential characters like Hinata stat literally in the background

MHA fandom has a lot to learn from JJK fandom with Itafushikugi (which is more popular than Kugifushi or Itakugi combined). Why pair two people when you can do it for three. OT3! OT3!

People who are interested in the newest graph showing the share of digital sales of manga in the Japanese manga market, HERE YOU ARE

There is a graph on this link, but I don't know how to put it with the link INSIDE the forum like you all do. Anyway, if somebody can repost it... yoroshuu~

And there is a new documentary on tokiwaso, the dormitory for young mangaka who want to become pro here

All in Japanese of course, but I explained the graph in English in the link above. Not really hard to understand though.
Ok, now we just need this on an individual (series) level. If we’re going by this, would it be safe to assume that every series in Jump (or for every series with digital releases) has at least 2x the number of digital sales ratio to Physical sales?
Just to put in perspective, i was checking Mogura posts in the last days and saw one for the seinen series "Seed of Eros" which is from Grand Jump:

And thought, wait, 2.3 million? 2.3000.000 for 8 volume is around 312.500 for each one, but i remember this series selling nowhere near that, so i checked again, and these are the physical sales for each volume:

Seeds of Eros #1 (4.061)
Seeds of Eros #2 (11.387)
Seeds of Eros #3 (9.099)
Seeds of Eros #4 (10.828)
Seeds of Eros #5 (6.862)
Seeds of Eros #6 (7.117)
Seeds of Eros #7 (6.154)
Seeds of Eros #8 (5.176)

A series that doesn't sell 10k in 2 weeks but have a average of 300k per volume in circulation, so the bulk of the series sales is like, over 90% digital, which means there are series that never even appears on Oricon but still sell between 200k ~ 300k per volume, but we just don't know because we still have no track of digital, obviously you also have to take in count that varies from series to series and that seinen series in particularly are known for performing better in digital than physical, but still, if a erotic seinen series can sell hundreds of thousands of copies in digital, a mainstream shounen series from the biggest magazines must be pulling decent numbers at the very least.

I mean its erotic seinen, why would you ever want a physical copy of that lying around your home. But wait im confused, i thought u guys said that circulation numbers doesnt equal sales. Is that wrong or something?

Printed circulation alone is not sales, just the amount of copies the series has printed but digital numbers are copies sold since digital manga is just a archive, so if a manga that has its sales being 90% or more being digital, the circulation number (which includes digital) will be obviously made off mostly of digital sales.

Crazy that people are still getting queerbaited by shonen in 2024..... like the closest we've gotten to an explicitly gay relationship being canon is actually JJK to my utter surprise, everything else has been either just played up for the fandom by authors or exaggerated by fans desperate for something.

This is really interesting though, physical sales look a lot like Jump's bottom performers bar the really bad stuff, but I wonder how much digital is offsetting those. I'm obviously mainly thinking Kill Blue here, and maybe that's what editorial is seeing to keep it alive this long despite falling physical sales + TOC. Of course, someone mentioned earlier shonen manga tend to lean physical so chances are there might not be much difference, but I think for the middling series or newer stuff in general it's probably leaning digital heavy until they blow up a la Kagurabachi or were already huge like MHA/JJK/One Piece etc.

Everything I see of the final HeroAca chapter on there makes it seem like it should just be considered non canon, it seems so dissapointing and contrary to the rest of the manga canon and lore
This cope is really funny to see
