Feels too early for this, Sakamoto Days episode 1 hasnt even aired. The anime isnt even out, Theres more to an adaptation than visuals.
--

Not sure why the overwhelming view today is just negativity. Start 2025 off on a positive and uplifting and encouraging note, folks.
Because the productors and studios oftenly use the best animated parts of their works for the trailers and the anime openings to sell the product, so Sakamoto trailers and opening look so meh is a worrysome thing

So I have been having this thought about Akane, mainly for it going into that recent transition from the latest chapter. People have been saying that this is part 3. What if this is a 5 part series with it following the Jyo Ha Qyu (I know I am saying it wrong).

I think whoever storyboarded the Sakamoto Days OP actually did a good job. I see potential, but it really is let down by the lackluster animation. I am very sad. I was holding onto hope that at the very least the OP would have some sakuga.

That's not true across the board, there's many OPs and EDs with styles that are not at all similar to the actual anime though (Attack on a Titan season 4 final season OP or Tokyo Ghoul Op Unravel and in Fire Force OP1 with visuals that weren't at all in the anime) or staff who directed and storyboarded the OP but didn't work on the show at all or OPs completely outsourced.

Now give an example of an anime season 1. Amd wtf Fire Force? Fire Force had one of the best openings of last decade.

Not to mention World Trigger’s first season op.

S2 is the RAWEST, they did the show so much justice with this season.

How the visuals gave throwbacks from the earliest events, highlighting every squad, smooth ass animation, how the song played through the emotions of the characters, CHIKA,

If it's any consultation, the YouTube audience seems to like the Sakamoto anime opening.

They consider it 'Gintama-Like'
And people love the 2000's era vibes too. Interesting that the mainstream is positive while the niche mangahelpers thread is negative.

Will be an interesting divide at the end of the season to see where it stands

Issue 6-7
1. Akane Banashi
2. Ichi the Witch
3. One Piece

4. Kagurabachi
5. Syd Craft

Regarding Sakamoto, could it be that its type of action is harder to animate? All those over-the-top choreographies can't be easy to make them look as good as in the manga, where you can simply draw the cool parts and ignore all the unfeasible transitions. And the harder it gets, the less resources you have to make it shine.

On the other hand, Kagurabachi should be much easier, given that it takes so much inspiration from movies. So many of the scenes already feel cinematic, like the metro one from the previous arc or the katana-grab of the latest chapter.

Looks like Ichi the Witch is going to survive; I should pick it up again and not let my personal issue with Iruma-kun stop me from reading it.

While we're on the topic of Sakamoto, all of its backlog is on Shoseki for 1/1,1/2, and 1/3 with no anime. Of course, holidays mean that backlog generally does well, but it's one of the only ones to get all its backlog on with no anime. My hopes are still there for a good boost.
