So we know that Baam is invulnerable to spells.

Arlene cast a spell that prevented the boy's body from rotting.

Are we considering whether Arlene's spell, which essentially made Baam invulnerable to spells, is the same one that prevented his body from rotting, or if it is merely one of the powers implanted in Baam by the outside god?

One important point to consider is that the ghosts of the 13 months claim they have been waiting for someone capable of collecting and igniting all of them. They also hate Zahard. Was this anti-spell thing done because Arlene knew he would have to collect all 13 months?

Unlocking the Final Door = All 13 Month Weapons (as the key) + Defeating Zahard + An Irregular’s presence to override contracts.

Aren't we also requiring rings and thorns in addition to the 13 MS for unlocking the remaining door?

Additionally, as far as I remember Baam is not invulnerable against spells, like he can get burnt by Gustang, he is just breaking spells like they are nothing. So you can just kill him with a spell if you want to, but of course he keeps returning alive somehow for plot armor reasons.

He isn't really invulnerable, he has a good resistance against them.

I think it's probably something he inherited from Arlen herself. Genetic trait.

Yes, Key's one half was turned into the 13-Month Weapons, the other half into a set of Zahard rings. The reason I didn't mention the rings is because there is no spell cast on them, as with the 13-month weapons.

But Gustang's fire is not a spell. It's one of his Shinshoo quality.

I mean, the spell is cast on him; it shows a reaction in his body, but then the anti-spell ability kicks in, and the spell wears off. I don't think you can kill him with a spell. There is no basis for this in the story, from what I remember.

Was it resistance when he touched the door of the nest for Yama's carrier, which carried Augustus and Love to sneak in? He touched it, and the spell dispersed.

Spells are not shinshoo quality that can be inherited. They are learnt and practised. The only thing Baam inherited was tension.

Spells can never be inherited. They are cast,, and when their job is done, they vanish. Mages/witches learn them. Whoever has a high affinity towards magic can cast much higher spells. Talking strictly about TOG, Luslec learnt from Arlene, because he cannot inherit it.

I seriously don't know anymore what is counted spell and what is not xD. If Baam would consume FoD souls he seemed to be not leaving there either.

I think he could if he wanted; also, at that time, SIU probably wanted to give Gustang a cool-ass moment. The dialogue in question that you're referring to was made by Gustang towards White. Also, Gustang doesn't know about Baam's anti-spell thing.

It's impossible to say. Spells are framed in a variety of ways through the story... Sometimes as powers granted by higher beings and other times as sort of glitches in the towers rules. The 13 months were said to be incredibly high ranking spells items so it is possible imo that arlen did something here. I am not sure a genetic trait is possible since spells are sort of not shinsoo based.

I said the same thing in my point above! They will play a larger role in the story moving forward than Shinsoo's attacks. Luslec only used spells against Urek and some martial arts (ok, he did floral butterfly, but when it did little, he switched his tactics to using spells)

Now for me that was interesting from a fighter of a caliber of his level because you cannot go against FHs in a battle of shinshoo. They'll outclass you.

Given FHs also know about spells, but to outcast them, you need to know about them. We cannot assume that FHs are familiar with all of the world's or tower's spells simply because they climbed with Arlene.

Yeah as demonspeed said it is possible baam inherited it from arlen. Spells are OP in TOG even luslec was holding his own against urek thanks to it and even escaped from him.

Arlen's spells will be on different level 😎

If Baam was invincible to Spells, some of White's abilities wouldn't work on him. And do you think he can take Luslec's attacks, which have all been Spells so far with zero damage?

We don't know how Luslec became a Sorcerer and we are pretty much in the dark regarding Spells in general. What we know is that he was V's servant too, he never mentioned Arlen once.

When Luslec was said "the thing Lord Grace seeks almost in our hand now" or something along the lines, it was hard to think someone other than V, as the Jyu Viole Grace may also come from (v)iole grace. Not surely, but most probably.

Which ability of White concerning the spell worked on him? Enlighten me.

How does White absorb souls?

Fenryl also has a Spell on its teeth.

No. That's not true. Souls are used as fuel for more shinshoo-based attacks. No direct spells. Fenryl is the same. It's an anima shinshoo-based power, not a spell.

If Baam was immune to Spells, then the wound would have stopped bleeding. Fenryl has a Spell on its teeth.

Finryl's "fangs" were not a traditional shinsu spell, such as a curse or enchantment.
They were a special enchantment that was directly bound to his teeth and was designed to have a long-lasting physical effect.
That meant Baam wasn't under an external spell, but was being struck by a weapon whose nature had been magically altered.

Baam continued to bleed because Finryl's teeth possessed a unique, inherent magical property that caused wounds to not close properly. It wasn't a "spell affecting Baam" (which would have failed), but a special condition built into the attack that overcame his irregular spell resistance.

That is my understanding.

So, is Baam immune to Spells or not? What's on Fenryl's teeth is still a Spell. If he was immune, the blood would stop. Items can be enchanted with Spells, I don't see the difference. You didn't say Baam was only immune to external Spells when you created this thread, you said he is immune to Spells.

We don't even know the characteristics of Spells to begin with. Do you think he would be immune to Luslec's Light Charge and other Spells?

That spell was intended to kill; I believe Baam would have died from blood loss if it hadn't been for his anti-spell buff. When your skin is pierced, blood flow will undoubtedly continue; this is a natural consequence of the injury.

No, I don't believe he would be immune to Luslec's spell, but he would not have the same problems that Urek did. That's my belief.

Spells will work on him; I am not discounting that. But sooner rather than later, his anti-spell thing will kick in.

Long story short, he is not immune to the spell, but he is pretty damn invulnerable to it because it has no long-term effect on him.

Well, we actually had one instance of Baam getting inflicted by a poisoned cut, probably in name hunt or whatever, that "kicking in" you mentioned took place. But again, if your spell is something like kill-o-zap Baam will die.

Baam won't die.

Let's say, for example, Luslec's spell, which was a sure-hit kill. Do you think if Baam gets caught by it, he will die?

He also has Shinwonryuu. Please keep this in mind.

It causes some damage to him, but he will recover and will not die..Trust me, we'll see a lot of this in season 4.
