Welcome to the 2026 thread for news and discussion of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine!

Shonen Jump is a weekly manga magazine published by Shueisha since 1968, It's the biggest manga magazine in Japan, the home of many of the biggest manga & anime classics in Japan history with the current print circulation around 1.026 million physical copies per Issue and a average 700k digital copies being sold every week (According to the last report from 2022). Despite being a magazine part of the shounen demographic which focuses in the kids & teenagers audience, a very good portion of the current readers are young & older adults, also many female readers too.

WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP 2026 - PREDICTIONS!

Yo guys & girls, feel free to make your official 2026 predictions for the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, mangas and anime! You can of course include Jump Festa predictions for December since it falls into the beggining of the 2026 fiscal year, don't be afraid of making some wild predictions, it's just a fun game we're doing and who knows, some wild predictions actually come true, so be creative if you want but of course take it seriously too

Important: Do not mock or criticize any prediction from others, each member has the right to make whatever prediction they want even if is something almost sure to not happen, okay? so let's go!

OK. Here comes my predictions:

One Piece finishes the flashback it is in and manages to finish the arc as well.

Blue Box and The Elusive Samurai conclude by around the middle of the year.

Horikoshi comes back with a new series, which will be a horror manga, or at least a horror-esque manga.

Hokazono is given a more regular, and more frequent, chance to catch breaks to improve his performance.

Gonron Egg is the first of the last batch of 2025, and likely the only one, to be axed, and will be axed around the start of the year.

The Mage Next Door survives and continues into 2027.

Otr ends up concluding early into the year.

Ichi continues to keep a steady placement in the TOC and reaches 100k sales in a month at most at some point with one of its future volumes.

HXH returns with its latest batch of chapters before going back into hiatus.

A Gold Future Cup winner gets published.

Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call it Quits manages to survive but keeps around the middle of the TOC.

WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP 2026 PREDICTIONS​

One Piece

• Continues like in 2025 - Won’t start a new arc but will be at Elbaf’s Climax at the end of the year. Also Eustass Kidd will return lol
• New Movie announced by Toei - New Trailer for The One Piece and will start late 2026
• Live Action Season 2 will have much less motion than Season 1
• New Game finally announced

Hunter x Hunter

• 10 new Chapters in Winter / Spring
• Togashi will dip after that and start posting again late 2026
• 1 Leorio panel

Me & Roboco

• Only series I don’t read so I have nothing to say about it lol

Sakamoto Days

• Will stay the entire year but they will be fighting Uzuki at the end of the year meanwhile most Order Members are defeated
• Season 2 announced with a late 2026 release

The Elusive Samurai

• Ends in the first couple of months of 2026 with Tokiyuki dying at the end
• Season 2 will start in the middle of 2026

Witch Watch

• Part 3 will be shorter than Part 1 & 2 and we will start the final “serious” arc and finish it
• Will be in its final arc at the end of the year with the pairings getting together / final SoL chapters

Blue Box

• Won’t end in 2026 and instead will continue to get dragged out, we will get Taiki’s final Nationals Tournament Arc with Taiki losing against Shuji again
• Season 2 will have a similar effect to Season 1

Akane Banashi

• Will continue like in 2025 with the final arc of the series being set up (100th Anniversary for the Rakugo Federation Arc)
• Season 1 will give the series a small boost - probably bringing the sales back to its peak
• We WILL see a Rokuro performance

Nue’s Exorcist

• Anime announced in the first half of 2026 - First Popularity Poll announced later this year + an actual LV game similar to the browser game
• WILL get an anniversary cover this year and one for the Anime announcement (could be combined but im investing in two Nue Covers)

Kagurabachi

• Sword Bearer Assassination Arc concludes in Spring and we will start a new Arc with the 2 remaining Sword Bearers getting their debuts
• Gets 3-4 Covers - 1 is already confirmed - 2 for the Anime announcement in the first half of 2026 - 3 for its Anniversary (Optional 4th if it gets one for the Popularity Poll (Chihiro, Hakuri, Shiba, Hiyuki & Uruha will be Top 5) but that would probably kill Hokazono so most likely just a Color Page) + a Jump Giga Cover
• Sales will continue to grow slowly and the series will hit 5M copies in circulation (grass is green ahh prediction)

Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi

• Will continue like in 2025 - Won’t get axed
• Gets a Cover for its second anniversary and some Color Pages but thats it

Hima-Ten!

• Pretty much the same as Kiyoshi
• A new 4th Main Girl will be introduced

Ichi The Witch

• Will continue to dominate the TOC and get the most Covers (after One Piece obv), a Jump Giga Cover & 3M copies in circulation
• 100 more tweets from “leakers” that the animes production will start soon (the sky is blue)

Shinobi Undercover

• Continues to get tons of Color Pages & good TOC placements + 2 Covers
• Volumes will start to comfortably hit 20K in their first months.
• Suzume gets a 1v1 fight

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

• Ends with chapter 23-26 and with its ending Hunter x Hunter will return to the mag

Someone Hertz

• Will survive and join Kiyoshi, Hima-Ten! & Shinobi with its first Volume selling around 15-20K and grow after that -> gets 2 Covers

Axes

• Harukaze Mound, Otr of the Flame, Gonron Egg, The Mage Next Door & Hero Girl & Demon Lord Call It Quits (hope im wrong with that one)

New Series / Returning Authors / Other things

• Returning Authors: Ken Wakui, Hajime Koumoto & Tadahiro Miura will return with new One-Shots or series’s
• Axed Authors: Minya Hiragi will return with Naual and it will be a hit, Shinpei Watanabe, Yuuji Kaku, Gen Oosuka & Masayoshi Satoshou will return with either a new Series or One-Shot
• New Authors: Mujina Muji (hopefully with Use Mono Sagashi…), Natsuki Osonoe & Taisei Tsujita
• One of the GFC winners will FINALLY debut with a series and a GFC loser debuts with their first series
• Jujutsu Kaisen will get a Gojo vs Sukuna Movie announced
• Black Clover ends
• Some news from Kubo after TYBW Cour 4, be it a new Bleach Arc or Burn The Witch Season 2

Likely Bets:

• Sakamoto anime S2 announced, still no sign of the manga ending
• Elusam ends in spring
• WW ends maybe in summer or fall? Depends on how the story goes
• Akane Banashi anime does decently
• Kagurabachi anime finally announced later the year
• Harukaze and Otr is axed in February (freebie lol)

Plausible Happenings:

• JKHero lives around 5~6 volumes
• Tsubasa Miyatake debuts
• Shirokuma Shirasaki finally debuts but it’s neither Sezaki-san or Ikeizu, maybe mildly inspired by one of them though.
• Hunter x Hunter returns
• Reiya Machida debuts but flops, everyone outrages
• Gray Keys serialized
• Osoegawa will have Kiyoshi/HSFam moment and people moan because it doesn’t grow in sales
• Kiyoshi begins to struggle more and gets soft-axed before the second anniversary

Weird but walk with me ok:

• One new series will have really passionate fans but is eventually axed, much like P6 and Cypher Academy
• We get a batch that entirely consists of GFC winners
• No exorcist manga is serialized

As one of the firsts to make their first post in the new thread, here are my personal predictions for 2026 in terms of weekly shonen jump

Starting with the official series:

• One Piece: The Flashback ends and Elbaf arc will continue till the very end of the year and go to the next arc, we will see a new crewmember join the strawhat crew.
• Hunter x Hunter returns and posts brand new 10 chapters before going back to hiatus
• Kagurabachi: Will continue on as always, however Hokazono will have a much better schedule than before as well as an official anime annoucment
• Ichi The Witch: Will continue as always but be more prominent just as it did in 2025. I expect lots of color pages. I also anticipated that there will be a wooping three story arcs of some kind in this year counting the chrono ship arc that started this year.
• Me and Roboco: I think it will continue as always, i suspect that two of its volumes will be on Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi. I think it will be glorious.
• Sakamoto Days: I think it will end around the new batch in spring or summer but not without having many fans cheering for its successful run as its live action brings in more fans of the series.
• Blue Box: I beleive it will end as well either between summer or autumn.
• Witch Watch: I suspect that it will end by the end of this year or early in 2027.
• Elusive Samurai: Ending within the winter batch of new series.
• Akane Banashi: The anime is a hit with people and it increases volume sales for the series. Also, it would be nearing its end by the end of the year.
• Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi-Kun: I suspect it will continue as always unless something drastic happens.
• Himaten: Will continue on as always.
• Shinobui Undercover: Will continue as usual.
• Nue Exorcistt: Anime annoucement and it will continue as always.
• Harukaze Mound: Ending by the next batch
• Ort of the flame: Ending alongside elusive samurai and harukaze mound in winter.
• Gonron Egg: Will be axed sometime early in the year.
• Mage Next Door: It will increase the stakes in the story and gain a good amount of fans, earning its place in the magazine.
• Hero girld and Demon Lord Call It Quits: It will gain a good amount of fans and become a hit for jump.

Now for my favorite part of the prediction, who will make new series either veterans or newcomers.

Lets start with the veterans(Successfull or otherwise):

• Kazu Kakazu makes a comeback and returns
• Hajime Komoto returns with a new action comedy series
• Shinpei Watanabe returns with another fantasy series
• Daisuke Enoshima returns with a new series
• Tadahiro Miura returns with a new echi romcom

Now for newcomers i expect to debut(This one i expect some folks to be surprised):

• Shinosuke Toujo, he has managed to debut a whopping three new one shots in the span of two years. I suspect him to debut sometime this year if all goes well.
• Yuu Odoraiba, i suspect he might finally debut a series and i suspect it will fall in line with either Bad Tripper or My Little Mars.
• Hirokoshi Ame, i anticipated him to debut an action series this year.
• Shirokuma Shirasaki(Winner 0f 2022 GFC) debuts finally with the distorted heads short one shot he made this year.
• two GFC constestants debut(Reiya Machida, Senki Chiki, Arisaka Akira and Yuufoo Gakuji i suspect are the most likely candidates, i could be proven wrong here), suspect they will be tryign to find replacements for the likes of Sakamoto Days so they will debut authors who might have a similar artstyle of Suzuki.
• Taro Kaneko debuts a series
• Osonoe Natsuki debuts a series(Inspired by Tate Roll)
• Fukamori Shou debut a series
• Mujina Muri debut a series
• Kongon debut a series
• Shou Shiromoto debut a series
• Aohi Kosuke debut a series
• Ameri Kanigimo debut akaiju like series

2026 Predictions:

-Nue's Exorcist and Kagurabachi both get their anime adaptations announced, A-1 for Nue, Cygames for Kagurabachi.

-Otr, Harukaze, Gonron Egg, and sadly JK Yuusha all get axed.

-Mage Next Door outlives its batch mates but will struggle to survive regardless.

-Shinobi gets above 20k in 4 weeks, Kiyoshi drops under 10k. Himaten stays more or less the same.

-2 new gag series debut, 1 of them sticks around for more than 20 chapters at least.

-Tate Roll debuts.

-Blue Box, Sakamoto Days and Witch Watch all end this year, "Jump is dead" discourse gets even more annoying.

-2 returning authors, veterans or not I won't say.

 

[Kiaida]

Happy 2026! I'll start with my predictions, saving the best for last, of course.

One Piece: This is finally the year we go under 30 chapters released in the magazine. But no need to despair, a brand new movie will come out and bump One Piece volume sales back to at least 1.1M! This new movie will get close to Film Red, outdoing it in yen, but not in dollars.

Hunter x Hunter: We'll get a single batch of chapters, but at least 3 members of the Phantom Troupe will die by the end of it. Rest in peace you crazy bastards.

Roboco: Shocking everyone here, Roboco WILL END. After the recent chapter about low sales, Saito won't forgive Roboco and will try to replace it with a new referential gag manga. It was a good run...

Sakamoto Days: Ends, but gets a bigger boost from its live action movie than it got from the anime. Ends up the year in the top 15 of Oricon.

Elusive Samurai: It'll actually survive the next batch and Tokiyuki will also survive his fate. Matsui will break realities.

Witch Watch: Ends. Bossun and Himeko will get a cameo where they'll finally be shown dating.

Blue Box: Jump will milk it, but it also won't go past this year. Miura will actually imply a sex scene in the last chapter, Dongus will write a 10 paragraphs review of it.

Akane-banashi: Another surprise, Akane-banashi will announce its starting its final arc after the anime ends. Fret not, rakugo connoisseurs, it'll be one of these 100 chapters long "last arcs". The Thousand Year Bloody Ochi.

Ruri Dragon: A Ruri Dragon chapter will be published on the magazine this year. The reason is simple: they'll announce a Ruri Dragon anime by Cloverworks! 2027 may not be a Year of the Dragon, but it's the Year of the Goat, that also works for Ruri.

Kagurabachi: Anime announced for 2027, Cyberagent studio, etc etc. The stuff we know. But what will truly come out in 2026 is the collaboration where Chihiro will join the worlds of Granblue Fantasy and Shadowverse, being a new character in Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising!

Kiyoshi: Will last the whole year again because we'll only get 2 new series to outsell it the whole year. Sorry, fellow Kiyoshi averse, we lost.

Hima-ten: Survives the year and will announce its anime before Shinobi Undercover and Kiyoshi! And Miku Ito WON'T voice any of the girls... Also, Himenono will start showing interest on Tenichi and erode this series' reputation on Mangaplus. Yatta.

Ichi: Will announce its anime at chapter 99, being the first early announcement in some time. There will be more on screen kisses, with lips touching shown, in this than in the overly puritanical Blue Box.

Shinobi Undercover: Another safe manga for this year. Sales will start dropping though to the point Hima-ten will regularly outsell it.

Otr: dead next batch. Harukaze Mound: also dead next batch.

Modulo: All the most annoying people in the world will be posting slander on the X dot Com social media because it will "only" sell 220k in a month for its first volume.

Someone Hertz: 15k seller with great TOC through the year. Natsuki Hanae will voice Mimei in a vomic and japanese fans will complain about him again.

Gonron: dead in the batch after the next one. Mage Next Door: also dies there.

JK Yuusha: Will outsell Kiyoshi! Not by much, it'll do 12k, but it'll be enough to live as the bottom TOC gatekeeper through the year. Other Dragon Quest archetypes will show up in the story, such as the Fighter, the Mage, the Monster Tamer and, of course, the bunny girl. Dongus will write 8 paragraphs about her.

NEW SERIES:

- Mamayuyu fans rejoice, Yoshihiko Hayashi will come back! But he's different this time, his new series will be an urban themed battle manga, but where characters are powered up by FETISHES in a binding vow/nen restriction style. Yes, he's not here to get axed again. Of course, because it's Jump it'll all be tame stuff like zettai ryouiki, cosplay, etc. A feet chapter will make Mangaplus and western X Dot Com turn on him though, claiming "I bet editors forced him to change", "what happened to my GOAT?!", etc. It'll sell 15K and survive. Dongus will writ

- Gray Keys no Makai Goyakuroku gets the full serialization. It also gets axed under 19 chapters when readers hate the second arc about gnomes.

- Momose Nao will show up with a brand new idea, a manga about a konbini employee that fights other konbini workers past 2 AM. Each store has its specific Jujutsu Kaisen-like domain that changes each combat based on who's attacking who. It'll be beloved, but struggle just like Ping Pong Peril. Will still survive a batch or two and last until 2027, but at high risk...

- We get a new work from Kei Kamiki, but unlike Magu-chan, it gets axed 18 chapters in for being too similar, but not as fun as his previous work.

- The only veteran coming back this year is Riku Sanjo, he'll partner with Kuzumi Taiyou, of Uma Musume Cinderella Gray fame, as artist. They'll make a high stakes sports x battle manga. First volume will sell 12k, but soon fall to 10k in volume 2, turning it into a point of discussion in these threads.

RANDOM STUFF

- Chojo anime will actually be a hit and they'll announce a surprising season 2 and a short Samon series of web anime.
- World Cup will be a theme for a group cover, with Jump collaborating with the Japanese National Team. They'll lose 3-0 in their opening match against Paraguay, making the issue's timing terrible.
- Celebrating 10 years, Yakusoku no Neverland will get a special oneshot.

Now for the important stuff: NUE'S EXORCIST

Anime announced and AIRS in 2026. Studio will be BIND that will assemble a horny, but also battle crazed Avengers team of animators, directors and artists.
The VN voice actors will be kept, but Shitotsu will be changed to Serizawa Yuu as they save Sasahara for Ishu.
Episode 1 will go viral over Zenno, voiced by Natsuki Hanae (AGAIN), and make the manga boost to around 45k~.
Because of the success, Kawae will take the story more slowly, but won't stop the chaos.
It actually gets 3 covers this year (announcement, anniversary and an extra one), deeply hurting Saito internally (I know this because the voices told me).

Otr, Harukaze, & Gonron Egg axed early in the year. Mage Next Door survives one round but gets axed the following one.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo, Someone Hertz, & Hero Girl & Demon King end up the only successful series of 2025. Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo gets a one cour season announced towards the end of the year to follow the final season of Jujutsu Kaisen, and Modulo comes back as a full serialization.

Hunter x Hunter returns following Modulo's initial conclusion. We get only one batch of chapters this year.

Nue's Exorcist, Kagurabachi, Ichi the Witch, and Hima-ten all get anime announcements.

Kagurabachi gets a stage play announced. Chainsaw Man: The Stage 2 is announced.

Ruri Dragon, and Blue Box get live action film adaptations

Kagurabachi has a natural conclusion towards the end of the year. People debate for years whether Hokazano ended it due to his health or it being the plan all along.

The Elusive Samurai ends early in the year, Witch Watch towards the middle, Blue Box, Me & Robocco, and Sakamoto Days towards the end.

Furudate, Komoto, Shirai (with new artist), Gotoge, Wakui, Matsui (Rin), Hayashi (Yoshihiko), Itsumo, Enoshima, Kaku, return with new series. We'll get around 14-15 new series.

Numa, Miura (Tadahiro), Shinkai, Kobayashi, Terasaka, Osuka (Gen), Maporo 3-Go, Kamiki, Nonoue, Hokami, Yagi, and the previously announced Kawada, and Kirazaka move to Jump+ with new series

Kill Blue gets a sequel in Jump+ that starts shortly before the anime does.

Towards the end of the year Leader Den Takeshi gets an anime announced for 2027 for its 30th anniversary.

First time predicting, here goes...

2026 Predictions!

1. One Piece: We'll still be stuck on Elbaf, there'll be another clash with the Five Elders but this time, some of the Strawhat Grand Fleet will appear. There'll be another lengthy flashback, though not as long as Xebec's.
2. HunterxHunter: A dozen chapters at best, probably less.
3. JJK Modulo: Will emerge as the 2nd best seller (not counting HxH). Will continue longer than previously confirmed.
4. Me & Roboco: Situation doesn't change much, but will steadily outsell Kiyoshi.
5. SakaDays: It'll end of course, but not without at least one fakeout death. Will not exceed past the 170k mark unfortunately.
6. The Elusive Samurai: The series ends this December, though the epilogue might be released in 2026. Said epilogue will definitely feature the modern day.
7. Witch Watch: Gonna be close, but not ending just yet.
8. RuriDragon: Sales continue to fall. At least the dad will be revealed.
9. Kagurabachi: Anime announced, but no release date confirmed. Will surpass the 160k mark. Will have more unexpected collabs.
10. Hima-Ten!: All cards will be laid out as Iemori finally realizes the trio's feelings. Another girl joins the Iemoribowl. There'll also be another wingwoman. Best girl Kanna continues to suffer.
11. Ichi the Witch: Anime announced, will surpass the 90k mark. ToC average will initially fall to the middle, but the announcement pushes it back to the top.
12. Shinobi Undercover: Yodaka and Aoi will start dating, he'll unlock some power or Kekkai. Sales will improve just a bit.
13. The Mage Next Door: Struggles, but find its footing in the second half of the year. ToC position might still be in danger though.
14. Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits: Gradually solidifies its position being in little to no danger, best performer of its batch.
15. Gonron Egg, Harukaze and Otr gets axed.

Any new series debuting this year is gonna go through a slaughterfest, no more than 3 survivors at best and even then it might be due to sheer luck. There'll be at least 4 spokons and one returner who has been axed previously sometime in the past 3 years.

I didn't review my predictions from last year because I was far too optimistic about the success of anime, announcements, sales, etc. So, to avoid disappointment, here are my predictions for this year:


CURRENT SERIES:

• One Piece: No new movie, nothing about the remake, less than 30 chapters during the year, new vols won't reach 1M in a month.
• Sakamoto Days: Live Action creates no boost at all, end during the year, decreasing sales at each new volume.
• Blue Box: Some info about S2 but won't be half as good as S1, end during the year with constant decreasing sales.
• Kagurabachi: Information about the anime at the very end of the year, not by Cygames (the leak was wrong) but by a mid studio which will butcher it. At least seven breaks for Hokazono, bad TOC rankings, sales decreasing and the last volume of 2026 will barely reach 100K in a month.
• Ichi the Witch: No anime information, sales slowly decreasing, fewer first places than 2025.
• Ruri Dragon: No anime information, sales rapidly decreasing.
• Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi: Nothing. Stays in the magazine but nothing more.
• Hima-ten: Nothing. Stays in the magazine but nothing more.
• Shinobi Undercover: Nothing. Stays in the magazine but nothing more.
• Nue's Exorcist: Ufotable anime announced for early 2027, huge boost of sales (multiplied by 5) just from the announcement.
• Gonron Egg, Harukaze, Mage Next Door, Hero Girl, Otr: All axed.

NEW SERIES:

• Gotouge, Shirai and Horikoshi will start new manga in the magazine, they will all flop and be axed.
• Not a single new series will be a hit, at best they'll have a decent success (equivalent to Kiyoshi).
• All new sports manga will flop and be axed.

Elusive Samurai: Axed by March. No new seasons besides the second.

Witch Watch: Axed by July. No new seasons besides the second.

Blue Box: Axed after falling sales under 80K a month. Hina's ntr arc will be labeled as its downfall.

Akane-banashi: Will be axed on 2027. Anime does nothing for its sales and goes underwhelmingly bad.

Ruri Dragon: Axed by february.

Kagurabachi: Will enter an 6-month hiatus beginning July. It will get axed due to Hokazono's poor management of schedule.

Kiyoshi: Axed.

Hima-ten: Axed.

Ichi: Sales will fall under 50K. Will be axed due to creative misunderstandings between Usazaki and Nishi.

Shinobi Undercover: Axed.

Otr: Axed. Harukaze Mound: Axed

Modulo: Will end on chapter 26. Will sell 100K.

Someone Hertz: Will lose steam and get zxed by chapter 45.

Gonron: Axed. Mage Next Door: Axed.

JK Yuusha: Axed.

No new series will get stablished and Saito will be fired from EiC position.
