So it seems what happened is:

Shine thought something had gone wrong since Maschenny was no longer responding and reported this situation to the Family.

Eduan heard that and decided to come in person (his message to Maschenny: "I will be there soon").

Maschenny herself couldn't ask Eduan for help as messages can't leave the barrier (but they can receive messages from outside).

So Eduan hadn't received any reports about Mago or the like when he decided to come in person.

The only thing Shine had reported was that Maschenny was no longer responding.

In my opinion, whoever Maschneyy's mother is, Eduan loved her, pitied her, or cared for her in some way (my hope), and as a result, he likes Maschneyy because she resembles her personality and appearance. Her being a powerful princess and a major influence in Zahard's force is one reason, but I'm hoping his feelings for her are similar to Gustang's for Enne.

Also, if I may add, perhaps Eduan does not want to make the same mistake with Maschenyy that Gustang did with Enne. Eduan is aware of Zahard's truth, and he is conspiring with Maschenny, as evidenced by his sending her to aid Baam in the nest, despite the fact that she represents Zahard's army there.

I honestly can't imagine Edhan being a caring father, i voted that he cherishes Mas as a prized possession. I think he likes her mainly for her attitude and talent but he still keeps emotional distance as FH / Subject. I don't see him putting himself on equal grounds with her like he would with the other FH's.

Nevertheless i wouldn't oppose the idea of Edhan actually being a caring father for Maschenny in particular either.

I believe Eduan does not want to repeat Gustang's mistake with Enne and how Gustang was broken as a result, or how that incident completely changed Gustang. Eduan is a very calculated man, and I don't think he ever erased his memories. He simply drank his sorrows away.

You stole my poll's idea! Voted for the third option. I don't think he likes her as a person. But it's impossible for her to not have a special relationship with him. She is a Zahard Princess with a 13MS after all.

I don't think Eduan is that pathetic of a man. Traumerei was a lost case. He wanted Nen Neya and Wang Wang to mate immediately after 3-4 days and was watching them while they were having sex. LOL.

I believe that her calling him "father" even now (in the main story) reveals everything you need to know about their relationship.

Close but not quite.

Option 3: is Maschenny being someone he has designs for and she only matters insomuch as she is useful for such plans.

Option 4 is more like: "Maschenny is the crown jewel of Khun Eduan's collection", "the apple of his eye", "his greatest treasure", etc.

But the emotion there is "fierce possessiveness" and not "paternal love" or the like. That's what distinguishes it from option 1.

The off limits doesn’t apply to Family Heads. Traumerei can revoke the twin’s princess status whenever he wants to.

In addition to the potential inbreedings, we also have newly introduced Koon halves like current accompanies of Eduan, as well as Shine obviously not fully a Koon member. We also have others like Lyborick, so they may not force inbreeding fully still, but maybe "only among great families" like.

What bugs me is that, with eugenics, you need to have sharp excellent, best qualities ever seen. While many Koon members are highly skilled and cool, I have yet to see a one with that bestness (maybe I forget). In previous Koon AA and Koon Ran team, we had a scout with very high running speed for instance, or at the beginnings Phonsekal Laure was so badass on shinsoo wavecontrol. Maybe the best we can say is shrewdness of Koon AA but it feels like a plot armor, too.

I don't believe it is a case of plot armor per se. I believe that every best Khun export in the family inherited at least one key aspect of Eduan's skill, intellect, and personality. I mean, I can see Maschneyy as a carbon copy of Eduan, minus the power disparity, but personality-wise, I believe she mirrors him, which is also why Eduan prefers her in terms of the number of children he has. Do you feel me? AA is the same; Data Eduan was very impressed with AA based on what he showed him in HF, and he also said he had a lot of potential.

Maschenny and Ran are the best of their gens in their family. The Lightning Spear attribute is among them.
