Sounds like either a game or a filler movie? I guess it could be something smaller like a stage play or something though

If I had a nickel for every september hit Jump launched in the last few years....

You'd have 3 nickels. That might not sound like a lot, but it suggests a pattern.

Ooh, we’re placing bets? I’ll choose game! Maybe some mobile one…I’d love to be surprised and for it to be on Switch 2, but I have my doubts.

I shudder to think what this could do to anniversary covers if they all line up at inconvenient times…
Just look at the #8-15 area of the past few years if you want an idea. You had a large combination of:
  • Haikyu
  • Black Clover
  • Kimetsu no Yaiba
  • We Never Learn
  • Dr. Stone
  • act-age
  • Jujutsu Kaisen
  • Undead Unluck
  • Mashle
  • Elusive Samurai
  • Witch Watch
  • Akane-banashi
Getting their covers at around the same time, resulting in at least one of these series getting an anniversary cover months late. And that's not counting things like Yuuna which didn't get anniversary covers basically or Chojo which probably could have gotten one with hindsight.

Assuming a miracle doesn’t happen to save Harukaze, this is winding up to be the worst performing 4-batch since 2014’s sequence of Illegal Rare/I Shojo/Stealth Symphony/Tokyo Wonder Boys. Heck, if Harukaze ends within the next 6 chapters it’d be worse than that batch, since from what I can tell Illegal Rare made it 30-31 chapters and the others about 20, whereas this batch had a bunch of 17’s and another probably about 30. To find a definitively worse 4-batch, you’d have to go back to 1994 issues 40-43, where from what I can tell all 4 series U19’d (two of which were only… 9 chapters?! Dang).
Shame too, because Illegal Rare and iShoujo were both fantastic series.
Although, tbf iShoujo was transferred to Jump Live (the predecessor to Jump+) rather than being outright cancelled.

Also worth noting, that a series lasting 17-18 chapters is probably equivalent in popularity to a series lasting 10 chapters back then given how lenient Jump is now with clear failures.

I think its a exaggeration, series getting axed at 10 chaoters were pretty rare even in the 00's and 10's, it would be more of the equivalent of series axed at 12 ~ 14 chapters.

They were rare, yea. I was exaggerating how common it was; moreso just trying to prove a point on how lenient Jump is with failures nowadays.

That was moreso around the mid-late 10's, like 2014ish is when I started noticing it. When it came to massive failures prior to that they'd typically end at 10 chapters, then more typical failures around 14 chapters.

I know this is off topic but it’s interesting: HAKUTAKU author will publish a new one shot in Monthly Shonen Champion

hope he also finds his way there just like Naba-sensei
