iirc it is banned in certain states outright, like I don't think you can get it all in Texas and some other places? feel free to correct me here I'm being lazy and not googling to verify
It is not banned in a single state. You can search a Texas zip code on the Barnes and Noble website and its in stock available for pick up now at Texas stores. Some schools removed it from their libraries which really means nothing (most manga series won’t even be carried by a school library anyway lol) but people like being sensational and calling it “banned”.

You were the one who brought it up.
I made a joke post about Sakamoto gun model, not a serious one about how AC was banned in some school library :grin

Talking about the next batch, I really think both Otr and Harukaze should survive, while Gonron and Hero Girl should be axed. There's nothing they can improve on Otr and Harukaze, so they should just go. Let Kawaguchi and Matsuura showcase their visually appealing art. Let us enjoy the technique. At least that.

I didn't include Osoegawa on the line because I see a bit more potential to it. It could survive a bit more, in especial because Elusive is ending next.

I have a comment on that, but much later since I am going to get some sleep soon.

Talking about next round, we should predict at least a success, looking back, nearly every year since 2000 the serialization round that happens between issue #8 ~ #15 had either a hit or at least a series that surpassed 1 year of serialization:

2001

-Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (Issue #12)

2002

-Ichigo 100% (Issue #12)

2004

-Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run (Issue #8)

2005

-Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (Issue #12)

2006

-Maison Du Penguin (Issue #11)

2007

-Samurai Usagi (Issue #14)

2008

-Nurarihyon no Mago (Issue #15)

2009

-Beelzebub (Issue #13)

2011

-Magico (Issue #13)

2012

-Haikyu!! (Issue #12)

2013

-World Trigger (Issue #11)

2015

-Black Clover (Issue #12)

2016

-Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Issue #10)
-Kimetsu no Yaiba (Issue #11)

2017

-We Never Learn (Issue #10)
-Dr. Stone (Issue #14)
-Robot x Laserbeam (Issue #16)

2018

-Act-Age (Issue #8)
-Jujutsu Kaisen (Issue #14)

2020

-Undead Unluck (Issue #8)
-Mashle (Issue #9)

2021

-The Elusive Samurai (Issue #8)
-Witch Watch (Issue #10)

2022

-Akane-banashi (Issue #11)

2023

-In 2023 the first round of the year started super late in the issue #19, so if you want to count there's Kill Blue & Nue's Exorcist

2024

-Super Psychic Polceman Chojo (Issue #11)

Also noticeable is that plenty of veterans have returned in around this round, so i'm gonna bet on Iwashiro Toshiaki returning with a series in the next round exactly 10/11 years since Kagamigami started on #11 of 2215 🙏

Don't bring something like Netflix or other stuff with movie or animation in this conversation. Also Shinuki is correct to say that the anime industry produces well over 50 different series in a single season and that it usually has a variety of different genres to choose from, if you think its just isekai stuff coming out than you are not looking hard enough. This is coming from a gent who has not watch much anime in recent years but even I know that is bullocks to presume nemu.

Also, remakes are like small compared to other things in the industry.

Sorry for the long term of silence, been traveling for a bit.

Anyway, is it just me but doesn't it feel like we are entering quite possibly a new Renaissance of fantasy genre within manga? I have been noticing that less and less sci fi like series are talked about as much as fantasy series in manga and even then its fewer than before.
Hmmm.... I take a look at each season chart and there are mostly isekai, tensei, LN adaptations etc. Maybe just a feeling?

EDIT: yeah, after checking some charts, just a feeling. The problem is that even if there are a lot of them, there are others but, I don't like the other genres, or it's continuation of titles I don't like, so I get this feeling. I'm lucky if I get one or 2 titles that I want to watch. Biais.

Coming in here to say that modulo has been getting better and better since ch 5 ish. Probably the manga i look forward to the most now.

Meanwhile, i'm starting to feel a bit indifferent on kagurabachi. Chihiro/ samura vs Yura is suppose to be the most hype fight of the series yet somehow i'm just not feeling it but i can't point it out why.

I'm really enjoying Yura x Chihiro fight because i can see a lot of pain/nagato in Yura's character

Even his response to Chihiro this chapter felt like the response pain gives Naruto about the cycle of hatred, pure peak stuff

It needs a bit more drama for me. All of chihiro's past major battles (sojo, kyora, samura) all had bits of story and dialogue interjected in between that amps up the emotional weight of the scene. So far, its just been mainly fights and not enough drama. Then again, the battle is just starting, so I trust Hokazono to give this arc a satisfying conclusion.

I think the Yura stuff so far works mainly because Chihiro has essentially already proven Yura's point for him by taking down the Rakuza-Ichi where the Kamunabi wouldn't. Rather than current drama per se, although we're absolutely getting some of that next chapter with Soga and Chihiro, it lets you go back over everything Yura's already done and said in a new light. Still human scum, obviously, but you can kinda connect the dots to his conclusion. Like, yeah. I'd probably be pissed off too if some random guy opened pandoras box and ran off into the mountains never to deal with the consequences.

I've been saying this since CH70 so I'm happy to be proven wrong but familial drama aside I'm starting to see how this might lead to Samura dying and that scares me, lol. I don't think Soga would want to hurt Chihiro but his opinions on Samura are completely up in the air, especially after 20 years in the slammer.

Issue 2 2026 chapter reviews (fantastic issue!):

1. Nue's Exorcist: AEGSYTARWTSGSUEU WHAT THE FUCK?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE JUST GOT TO SEE THE FIRST CONTRACTOR???? WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE ALSO WAS FRIENDS WITH BOTH NUE AND SORANAKI??? WHY IS NUE IN AN ONMYOUJI FIT THERE??? AAAAAAA-
Let's calm down. Soranaki's exit was so damn energetic like everything he does, offering his True name as a prize for a challenge is so off the walls insane, I love it! My boy Gakuro not taking any more of his shit also!! I need to write down a bit of a character thread for this Hyo cause it even calls back all the way to chapter freaking 2. Kota is a MASTER at foreshafowing, or rather making the reader loom back at all the previous pieces of dialogue. Nue just casually revealing that Natsuki is her, you know, DESCENDANT, is so funny, even funnier when she just refuses to go in depth with her story with her ex- I mean Soranaki. And amidst all this, lots of implications she had, you know, canonical S*x and maybe even biological children is such an insane thing to allude to. The portion with the three of them sneaking around was so nice: just Nue, out shopping for offerings, in a casual outfit, tailed by Natsuki Holmes, Gakuttson... & Shitotsu! Kota is totally about to start the Impure Children arc I just know it. And finally, that ending is gonna lead us into some of the craziest reveals next week: WHO IS GEKKA???? WHY DID IT CALL OUT TO GAKURO SPECIFICALLY?! So many damn questions for the next bunch of chapters to answer. My guess is Gekka is the first contractor, Nue buying dango for them makes me lean towards that as we see her and the contractor eating it in one of the panels. Anyways, 11/10 oh, lore, gimme more!

2. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo: Man. Remember Gojo and Geto? Not the SAME thing, but you get what I mean. Two brothers wanting to protect their siblings at all costs, even if it means losing any possibilitybof coexistence. Neither side is good or evil, just a product of cultural differences and dumb mistakes.

3. Someone Hertz: Instead of reviewing Hertz normally, from now on I'll write my own answers to the prompts instead!

"Name some fun fake facts about disposable cameras."

-They aren't disposable at all, someone get them a therapist!

-If you dispose of too many of them, they'll come back to dispose of you...

-They worship GoPros like gods.

4. Kagurabachi: Notice how Yura kinda mirrors Chihiro from chapter 31? Really needed backstory hint for Yura here, finally we start to understand his motivations and it's not like he's without a point. An Enchanted Blade stopped the Rakuzaichi, not the Kamunabi. We will see Soga (kinda) in action proper for the first time and I'm glad!

5. Ichi The Witch: I would say I didn't like the lack of actual stoey progression here, but I like that Kizashi and his relationship with Chrono are actually being expanded upon even if just a bit. Makes him feel like an actual character. And yes, Gokuraku, PLEASE punch the octopus.

6. JK Yuusha: I think the funniest thing in this series is the fact that Demon Lord can just do anything ever (Lol). We are building what will likely be our main cast for the foreseeable future and I sure like these new additions (Diet must be working). Subspace is honestly a great "straight man" for when Asuka isn't around. Sweet page spread and ending too! Please let this stick around.

7. Shinobi Undercover: Kasasagi is a weird character. On one hand, I actually kinda like some of the humor she brings, her calling out to N.9 got me a bit, but on the other she is SO undeniably creepy. Neat plot twist at the end aside, she keeps being such a mixed bag for me.

8. Gonron Egg: The losing part of the battle got largely skipped, but we actually got a moment of struggle and resolve to show off Gonron's own character. Was it rewarding? Not really, it feels like we've skipped a full chapter of story, that last page doesn't feel earned to me, but what can you do. Also, hey, the characters actually kinda look to be on the same plane of exisyence as the background this time! That's something!

9. The Mage Next Door: Now we got ranks for mages. Yeah author wants to go the battle shonen territory already, and they're doing it pretty shoddily. Also if I read "capture evil mages" one more time I swear to god. Also also, is it just me or has the art gotten worse? Like, that face shot of Osoegawa looked WEIRD. One good thing this chapter did was set up a proper direction though, so that's something, but again, could have been much smoother.
