You know, i think there's is an author that i think is more than ready for an official debut in this year and that he is called Shinosuke Toujo.
He is an author who has managed to launch around three one shots in the span of one year with his official debut with Zombie John in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Here is the first one shot he launched as a newcomer in ther form of Zombie John, that launched in Weekly Shonen Jump 2024 issue 40
His next one shot would be Naraku no Kyoshiro in Jump Giga 2025 Winter
Finally there is Tsuchi Ningyou ga Yume no ato in Jump Giga 2025 Autumn
The amount of improvement within the span of a year is pretty wild to see. So i say this dude is a high target to debut sometime in the year if he is that consistent. Also the fact that all his one shots are of a variety of different genres do help him out greatly.
Sorry, thought i would share this given that what i did share is trapped in the other thread so i might as well bring this here for those to enjoy and all that.
You should have seen how this thread was when the chapter in the actual manga was released. I think it trended for quite a bit and was talked all over social media.
Its going to happen the same thing here and its going to be there for a quite a bit, i give it two to three weeks until it dies down a bit.
Oh right Kren, are now able to see things in the thread with your vpn? I know this was talked about prior but wanting to just make sure you are not left out previosuly when i post one shots using imgur.

Yeah, thanks! I don't have it on all the time cause it slows my internet to a crawl but if there's something I wanna see I at least have the option to switch it on now It's crazy how I didn't notice how many things were hosted on Imgur until I suddenly couldn't use it anymore

Rip Harukaze, genuinely an incredibly disappointing return from this duo considering how Phantom Seer was my first cancellation experience and I really liked it. I dropped this early on and stopped pretending like I liked it, the games were unfollowable for me, skipped around so much and the Baseball Jargon made it borderline impossible for me as a non baseball fan, not to mention how simply boring it was (why did they make Ibuki into the basically main character when the brothers ARE so much more interesting AND the namesake, I don't get it).
Nue's STILL out of bottom? I hope this lasts a bit longer and not just one more issue and then back to the shitter.
Yeah the whole batch was a flop, we could all see it for weeks by now, let's be honest. It will be sad to see JK go, but the other two? Bye lmao.
Color pages are fine, Under Doctor's has some cool factor to it, but very, very neutral otherwise. I still have not mustered any real hype for this series besides Amemiya's art.
JJK today was WAY better than the manga. And I LOVE these chapters in the manga

Oficial synopsis for Under Doctor from Jump's twitter
Under Doctor by Kyo Tanimoto joins the weekly lineup on Sunday! Haiji was born with a special ability that would make him the perfect assassin, but he chooses to save lives, not take them!
Really enjoyed Iikagen Kizuke. The girl was cute - Komi knows how to draw em. Would happily read 300 chapters where they hold hands in chapter 298. Please serialize!

I vaguely recall another Jump manga (possibly on Plus) with a similar premise to Under Doctor. Maybe I'm just mixing things up between 'Drunk Bullet' and some other series
I have the same feeling. Wrong MC: it should have been Ibuki. Of course, the name of the series would have been different.
Also: make Aokaze more of a villainous brother for Nagiharu. The pace in the beginning of the series was not ideal too.
There are tons of successful baseball series nowadays, that's though on Harukaze as well.
Speaking of which, @Dongus, did you manage to read Strikeout Pitch?
I've been summoned? Sorry for being late to the call. Yeah, I've started reading Strikeout Pitch. Certainly not because I got baited by a big mommy coach woman from the previous chapter, no sirree. It's a lot more zany than Mound, but that zaniness makes it a more delightful read. I guess I would describe it as having a much greater force of characterization? The dialogue, exposition and exchanges is just dripping with character. I don't care one bit about baseball but I do find myself entertained by these characters and all the mad shit they get up to. I'll try to go more in depth in a few days when Mound gets the axe.
Speaking of axes, guess that's it for Otr Of The Flame.
I never believed Otr was doing a career resurrection when it got its color page and I guess a broken clock is right twice a day. And we went from the smithy arc to the boat arc, both of which weren't anything spectacular in any way. Sure we got the elf arc which was designed to cater specifically to me, but it didn't really break any grounds either. The only interesting part was the ending where woe, the ice kingdom are NOT the baddies! Though they did have an army of very toxic people. I'm sure Kawaguchi had these developments ready on the onset, and congratulations to him for being allowed to explore these ideas, though I wasn't exactly wowed by it either.
Is Kawaguchi like Horikoshi and would probably hit it out on the third pitch?
In my opinion: No. Kawaguchi repeated the same mistakes as he did with Red Hood, where he halted the plot development in favor of exposition that he found interesting, but nobody had the guts to tell him it was boring. The training arc was a killer. And it's immensely hilarious that Heroic Willpower, the power system, gets shoved to the backside in favor of spirit powers barely an arc later. Could you imagine if Luffy decided to park his ship in Chapter 2 to learn about Haki, only to keep to his rubber powers till the timeskip?
What Kawaguchi firmly lacks is a charisma. There's some semblance of it with his later characters (The scribe and the elf have very distinct character traits) but his core cast early on didn't have the kind of interactions or characterizations that made you want to tune in to see what they get up to. That's killer. You can make any premise work as long as people want to see those characters do, well, anything.
Do I want to see him return? I mean, I won't ever say people should give up, so yes, I would like to see him try again. But unlike with Otr's publication, I'm not holding my breath and I won't expect anything nor will I have hope.
As for the three newbies... They're all doomed, as expected.
Gonron Egg sucks but has the decency to provide tanned tomboy with thick thighs so this is a plus. If anyone's about to break a record and go U13 to get axed next week, he has a huge chance. I do think some ideas were good and the focus on the MC's relationship with his egg was a positive, but it quickly went all over the place without any aim nor direction.
The Mage Next Door cycles between being worse than Gonron Egg or better than Gonron Egg, but it's a very low bar to pass. It clears on characters and interactions, but in terms of shonen action, I feel like it falls behind Gonron's, which at least makes the effort to build some blocks towards some stakes. Osoegawa having whatever magic he needs disguised as everyday magic really drags the experience down, and I feel like the magic police having not magic superpowers makes it hard to figure out the world's setting. I do solidly think that out of the three, this artist needed another 3 years before he was ready to publish. Though, it has no shortage of dangerous women in power who act nice, so this is a plus.
I'm weak to dangerous women who stare at me like this.
Hero Girl and Demon Lord is the best of the 3, but still not what I'd call good. I know it's meant to be SoL, so there's no need for any kind of arcs whatsoever, but there's this taste that I don't really have anything to look forward to? Someone Hertz has that romantic angle going for it, and I expected that to give it a push, but the Hero and Maou in this story have what I can only call an uncle and niece type of dynamic, which makes the romance angle hard to digest. I like that the chapter 1 villain is coming back as a bratty loser. These are the funniest archetypes. At the very least, I can look forward to shenanigans on the weekly.
So with this stream of failures and Otr and Mound failing to prove themselves, I can firmly say it was a total waste to axe Syd and Chojo who at least performed better than anything they were cancelled for. Not that anyone would know at that point and time...
New publications, what I came back for.
Under Doctor looks good. Looks confident. Looks like someone who's ready for the grind. It's another assassin manga, but it's a doctor manga because he's a pacifist or something, idk. Love that Black Jack inspired aspects to his design, and if the author can back himself up, I expect some informative points to this. Definitely expectant of this. It has the appearance befitting that of a hit series, now to see if the meat is as good as the well-crisped skin.
Kento Amamiya of Shadow Eliminators (in)fame returns with a concept unlike something titled, "I Got Kicked Out Of The Hero's Party, But Now I Will Defeat The Demon Lord As The Strongest Support Mage?!" Conceptually bankrupt and with an author of an axed manga that's terribly bad. On the other hand: Kento Amamiya had the dastardly talent to draw some of the cutest girls I've ever seen, and decided to be a fujoshi-catering artist. So while his portfolio is in the negatives with his first outing, I just gotta see how he plans his second publication attempt. And so soon too!
If the MC's a little bitch boy who plays support, his natural partner would be something like...
If it's Kento Amamiya, he could awaken every corner of my brain...
Alien Headbutt exists. I have zero expectations and it looks like Toriko. It could be really good or it could be horrendously bad. There is no inbetween with a manga that looks like that. I pray for the second coming of Chagecha.

Speaking as someone who has not consumed Nisekoi: It was a decent one shot. I’m not sure how well it would stretch out into a full series to be honest, and I imagine the height of the main character’s obliviousness would end up shattering all suspension of disbelief if left to continue scaling off of what we saw here, so it would probably need to take things slower from the get-go to not have the main guy look like a complete doofus. It also seemed strange how he made a point of making sure she was able to go to the concert but didn’t do anything like attempt to meet her there since they knew each other? Almost like the author couldn’t think of a way for her to talk/act her way out of that very normal follow-through and thus decided to ignore it.
All in all I enjoyed it but don’t have a ton of immediate faith in it’s ability to be adapted into a full series. If it does, I’ll be interested to see what changes between the one shot and publication.

I find that interesting and agree with the lead male to not risk him looking like a doofus. I mean compared to Tenichi in Hima-Ten! he can be dense at times but still not be a doofus, and it makes me like him more. This is a part of why I don’t like this trope as much and more of a reason why I’m turned off from Nisekoi sometimes. I like the general idea still, but it’s the character work that I have a problem with in Komi and prefer how Ono is doing it in Hima.

That's kinda of a standard ToC tbh, not much to talk about it, Witch Watch in 1st is a surprise but if you check the ranked chapter would be 225/226 which would definitely make sense.
Someone Hertz still with the fantastic placements which i doubt it will change anytime soon with how well vol 1 is performing.
Kiyoshi keeps ranking well and a new color page after only 3 chapters since the last one, so it feels like it returned to its usual form, this is why i said that 3 weeks ranking in the bottom was just a brief moment due to the lack of anything else to be placed in the bottom, now is to see if they're going to give a 2nd anniversary cover, if that happens, the manga is set to stay in the magazine and has a anime in the works for sure lol
Yay for Nue still out of the bottom but we need a new color page, this is already the longest gap since the gap between ch79 & 91 lol
At this point i think is actually Genki Ono the one asking for no color pages, maybe he's struggling with the schedule because 12 chapters (so far) without a color page for a manga that doesn't even stay consistently in the bottom 5 is definitely not normal, this usually happens when the author is unable to do these, so i'm starting to feel like it is, specially when the series has a new volume released and no color page to advertise.
We have the newbie trio literally together, yeah it sucks, at least for Osoegawa & JK Hero, these 2 are cool series at least, i do have hope with Osoegawa since the last chapters were pretty cool, so i could see it rising at least a bit but with Hero Girl & Demon Lord i'm not sure anymore since it's not like the series gets a spike of quality in the last chapters so if readers are already not much interested on it right now, i don't see they getting with the next chapters, but the question is if the 3 are doomed or we will have at least 1 getting saved.
Harukaze Mound ended as expected, its sad, the series started pretty well, had a decent reaction but i guess the chill nature of the series killed it in the long run? i think the worst thing is that you have a duo that isn't really bad at all, Matsuura is a amazing artist and Togo is really not a bad writer, both Phantom Seer & Harukaze Mound are faaar from terrible series, so it seems like it's just a matter of Togo finally getting it "right", getting "that" series, i really wish Jump will not try to break the duo, let them try for the 3rd time with another dark/supernatural battle shounen, maybe this time will be the golden series, i wish good luck to both authors!
EDIT: @Shinuki no Reborn do you have those polls about what do we think about new series' futures? If it will flop etc. I wish we could gather this data to check the good guesses and the misses.
I think Matsuura is safe; his art is amazing. None of this is his fault. The art in Harukaze was top-notch. Let's hope for a longer series next time.
Maybe Gege can become an artist's haven. Make him write another JJK spin-off, but with Matsuura.
Yeah I was just thinking how with this batch, and Modulo ending (plus if hxh returns and leaves after that), then its second anniversary + it hitting triple digits is pretty much guaranteed now. This has been a pretty fun run, all things considered.
Yes. The manga was decent after all. What I think is that it was kinda similar to Green Green Greens: those who were reading liked it, but there weren't many people reading. Comparing to Honomieru Shonen's presence online back in the day, thats why I think people were kinda disappointed by the manga itself, since they were expecting the duo for years.
But the difference is that Harukaze started decent and fell apart with time while Green Green Greens gained traction and popularity online with the pass of time, unfortunately wasn't enough for Jump, i still think they should have kept GGG for another round just to see if the support would grow.
Great Roboco cover, she actually looks pretty cute here kkkk
Good Kiyoshi cover and maaan, Otr covers are so good, it's crazy because it's technically pretty simple design but it just looks really good, in a alternative reality where Otr would run for like over 20 volumes, a collection lined up would look like a rainbow with all the different colors
How many volumes Harukaze Mound will have again? 3 volumes?
If Harukaze has 30 chapters in 30 volumes, then probably Modulo will have 25 to 30 too. I kinda have a feeling they wanna match Modulo ends right when the 1st cour of S3 ends
Otr has enough chapters for 4 volumes, possibly 5 if the epilogue is quite long and there's a bunch of extras.

So, do folks think Elusive Samurai will end next issue? Or will it take a little longer and end between batches like we've seen from time to time with long runners?

In my opinion: No. Kawaguchi repeated the same mistakes as he did with Red Hood, where he halted the plot development in favor of exposition that he found interesting, but nobody had the guts to tell him it was boring. The training arc was a killer.
I think is important to remember that Horikoshi 2nd attempt, Sensei no Bulge, was very inferior than Oumagadoki Zoo, so if anything Horikoshi got worse while Kawaguchi improved with Otr of the Flame in comparison to Red Hood.
