Eh a comedy series getting an earlier anime isn’t exactly a big surprise. There was only a 6 month gap between it and bachi too.

Well, Kill Blue is getting an anime on April too. And it is not a comedy series at its core. It is somewhat a battle shonen.

And Kill Blue was 4 months before KGB, and clearly had a quick turnaround because of its veteran author.

Issue 10 Rankings:

Tier 1 (Great):

1 - JJK Modulo
2 - The Elusive Samurai (Matsui really knows how to nail finales huh? What an author, even though he's not everyone's cup of tea)
3 - Kagurabachi
4 - Someone Hertz
5 - One Piece

Tier 2 (Good):

- Akanebanashi
- Ichi the Witch (She really said he could be any kind of creature and she would have fallen for him the same way?? What in the bestiality??)
- Shinobi Undercover
- Witch Watch
- Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi (GOOO Tosaka and Cook, GOOO!!)
- Kinato's Magic (Ok, I REALLY enjoyed this. Finally, a new proper fantasy world adventuring WSJ series. I'm heavily bias to this kind of series so that's probably why I rate it SO highly, but yeah, I'm really looking forward to the rest of it! The MC has a unique bit of magic to him and Jien seems cool, the girl is just seemingly there for fanservice but hopefully the author can find actual uses for her beyond that lol. Overall, strong start imo).

Tier 3 (Ok):

- Under Doctor (found this a bit weaker than the first chapter, but still a solid start overall...it IS funny we have two "medical" series starting at the same time but there's such a big difference between them that I don't think it's a problem tbh)
- Himaten
- Blue Box (finally this arc is over. I'm sorry Taiki and Kyo, your final match against each other deserved better than to be overshadowed by this Taiki/Hina nonsense lol)
- Me and Roboco
- Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits (this series is slowly finding it's footing for me, I'm enjoying it a tiny bit more each week)
- The Mage Next Door (I think this series might be dead, but I still quite like it)
- Sakamoto Days (oh yeah, they're still fighting lmao)

Tier 4 (Bad):

- Nue's Exorcist
- Gonron Egg (this was actually better than last chapter, but still pretty meh. The art is hilariously shocking in some places, good lord. Quite clear with a potential 3 year timeskip that this is heading towards an end already imo)

Overall I think this was a bit of a weaker edition of the magazine, most of the big series were kinda worse than usual but eh, it's fine.

Regardless, people should only hope for a great adaptation instead of having it before something else. Sakamoto waited all those years and got a pretty underwhelming anime, even with a good studio, like TMS. So, just hope for it to be good. It is not like every manga gets a renowned studio, like KyoAni.

They just take forever with anime, it's ridiculous and basically ruins the boost their series can get. Only Ruri and Kagurabachi I'm sure will benefit more from their anime, the others are getting screwed over by this lateness.

I gotta know what's going on behind the scenes for this late push. It's not as if it's to have generational animation or anything since Sakamoto was fine, but not top tier animating.

It genuinely feels like the biggest magazine for manga is somehow the least aware of how to properly support their series

Well, at least it got some attention regarding the anime of RuriDragon, since it is being done by KyoAni.

I mean it's not only WSJ is SHUEISHA itself... BORUTO just had it's first promotion for TBV and it literally got more then 20 million views adding everything... the only thing i could think about was: "why haven't you done something like that sooner"

Talking about Boruto, with the release of Two Blue Vortex volume 7 today, the Naruto franchise (mainline story) has reached 100 volumes released!

I don’t think SHUEISHA will count gaiden on that one (if they ever have the idea of making a commemoration for it), i think they’ll wait vol. 8

but either way, what a great milestone

I'm sure they count since it's 100% canon and entirely done by Kishimoto, the chapter counts are "700+1" to "700+10", and is technically a sequel of the original manga & prequel of the original Boruto NNG manga.

So, is it safe to say I'm betting Elusive Samurai to get the cover for the next issue? If not, then I think Akane Banashi is the likely one

Reminder that Chojo is having its anime premiere on October, while being a 2024 series. And High School Family is having a live-action. It is quite embarassing for Kagurabachi to not have its anime already being aired at this time.

I Think it will be announced after Nue's anime announcement on March. Maybe May or next to it.
In the past most of Shonen jump manga used to have an anime announcement before 100 caps... some of them even around 70s...It's incredible with the passing of time the announcement average time has increased so much

But only for Jump, Shonen Magazine is making anime announcements at the speed of light today, even faster than older Jump :grin

And I think WSMagazine is doing the right thing. I think it's good to have some faster announcements, and having the anime airing while the manga is around 150-180 chapters. (This precision is because of Mayonaka Heart Tune lol, too soon imo) But for example, Gachiakuta had a great adaptation while manga isn't near to the end, that's a pretty good advertisement for it, helping to have new readers. While on another hand we have Sakamoto Days, still a good adaptation (imo) but too late to make new readers. In a good world, Kagurabachi is airing this year. But I think Shueisha will be too late again. Maybe not as late as a Sakamoto but still late.
On a third hand, Ruri will probably have a good timing for its anime. A lot of hiatus, so it will not end that fast or be near to the end, big studio, yeah I think Ruri got "lucky".
Now, I just hope Shueisha will start to do faster announcements now. I know it's very hard with the current situation in anime productions, because there is already a lot of things waiting to be produced buuuuuut if WSM can, they probably can. I can see a super early Ichi or Shinobi anime, while Nue & KGB are the last to be adapted a bit late.
Anyway, we will see. Anime is a great ad for manga and a good fan service for first fans. Let's just wait.

ToC day, we'll finally reaching the 3rd new series! My predictions:

-The Elusive Samurai will have the cover & lead color page for its 5th anniversary and story climax!

-Color pages will be Alien Headbutt, Nue's Exorcist for volume release and Someone Hertz for popularity & volume reprint.

-Bottom 5 will be: Gonron Egg, The Mage Next Door, Hirl Girl and Demon Lord, The Elusive Samurai and Hima-Ten!

-Top 5 will be: Ichi the Witch, One Piece, Someone Hertz, Sakamoto Days and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

-Alien Headbutt will be a crazy action wrestling series, a mix of Kinnikuman and Toriko, specially the art with big muscular guys.

Also, lemme do some predictions!

So, for issue 12, right?
I can see two options.
First one:
WITCH WATCH anniversary cover, EluSam ending color page, Alien (Head)butt 2nd chapter CP and Nue CP (please)

Second one:
TES anniversary cover (that means it will end in issue 13 with a consecutive color page), Allen (Head)butt 2nd chapter CP, Modulo CP or Nue or Hima-Ten! (please)

I think the first option is the most realistic one, but we will see this night (yeah leaks are usually released between 4am and 10am for me, lol)

Issue 10 chapters review (weak issue overall, gonna save my brain power if I got nothing new to say for the more boring series):

1. Nue's Exorcist: God how I love how this series does whatever the hell it wants and still makes it exciting. The Mr Beast style challenge streamer being one of the first opponents is so creative and feeds even more into the genuinely unsettling ability of Level 4s to blend into society: first Tamayura having insane economical power and connections to celebrities, Tougotsu/Gocchi entertaining possibly hundreds of people online and getting support from there, Shie literally infiltrating the Bureau without issues, Wanyudo being a doctor in spite of his natural cruelty and disregard of life, and so on. I love this attention we have been giving to level 4s. Tougotsu himself has already shown so much character: he likes to show off to a crowd, hence his position as a challenge streamer, and gliats even on his own meaning it isn't simply an act, ge enjoys this attention. His multiple lines to Gakuro regarding not being able to rescue Reina, remembering Volume 5's inner cover I feel like he is referring to himself staying in the back lines and not rushing in to get Hakutaku back from Nue, like he knew he couldn't do it so he stayed home like he told Gakuro to do, but he seems to regret it a bit feom his expression. Anyways none of that matters to Gaku right now as he is just raring to beat the shit out of him. You can "subtly" feel the frustration Gakuro has here: making a hole through hard plastic by throwing a goddamn stick, in his human form no less, is insane work, he is NOT playing around. Had Machida not been kidnapped he would have actually tried to entertain the game a bit so not to alarm anyone, but he just said "fuck that" and is going for the kill. And YOZORAY GIRL!! I love her bratty nature and now she has a new form to booth, YESSS!! I just wish that the rest of the swuad gets to do similarly against the other bosses and it isn't just Gakuro, but that is for the future. 11/10 once again!!

2. Kagurabachi: I've seen people say that Samura won't die here and man, I just can't see it NOT happening, the death flags are insane. An arguement against his death I see is that it would make his character arc pointless (aka from suicidal and self loathing to striving to be there for Iori and relying on others) but I hard disagree. It is because he WANTS to rely on the future generation that he is pushing himself to death's door, him putting his faith into Chihiro and everyone else is literally the opposite of what he wanted to do before. He saw a spark of hope in him that he couldn't see before. Then again, he couldn't see PERIOD, but you get the idea. Really great chapter, admittedly I do feel some battle fatigue in this series but the core cast involved is carrying enough to contrast that.

3. Ichi The Witch: No Kizashi in sight, meaning a good chapter! Let's be honest, did anyone REALLY think Chro wouldn't rewind Minnie's time? It would go against the core theme of Human/Majik love being the key that has been pushed at the start, so I am very much not criticizing this decision. At the end of the day it is a simple relationship that flourished between them, but that's kinda the beauty of it. It didn't need to be complex, deep or distraught, they just gave each other the love that they have been missing in their lives and that was enough. And a detail I wanna point out is how both of them basically abandoned their own kind as soon as they got together, it further reinforces the forbidden nature of their love.

4. Kinato's Magic: I'll get the comparisons with Shadow Eliminators out of the way immediately. The comedic tone of Kinato fits Amemiya so, SO much better than the weird, forced "somber" one of Eliminators. Not to mention the art is as good as ever, and dare I say his paneling has improved significantly too?
With that out of the way, even on its own, I liked this first chapter! It really reminds me of Fairy Tail, exagerrated faces, classic RPG setup. Jien is really fun and Linae is honestly quite charming herself. Kinato definitely plays more of a straightman role, and I am willing to wait for his growth too, so I don't mind him as a main character either. There is also his innate kindness which was portrayed pretty well in my opinion. It's really not a COMPLEX story right now, but it is FUN, which is more than what I can say for multiple other series in the magazine currently. The characters are fun, the setup has potential in spite of how "generic" it is, And the art is great. My only real complaint is that the "twists" were really predictable and I wish that the dragin was a little harder to defeat. Not gonna pretend like this is some high art right away, because it isn't, but it also impressed me. AND Linae's hot and we got a bunny girl right away. Bravo Amemiya, I was right to bet on you (for now)!

5. Someone Hertz: I really like seeimg more of Mimei's "perfect" side, it is a big contrast compared to his Mon-Mid listener life that I don't think many appreciate given how Kurage focused the series has been until now. It gives us a good insight as to why he could not ever get read on air before meeting Eel Potato.

"What would be an unfortunate flaw on an all-too-perfect idol?"

-A smile so bright that aliens invaded earth just to see it.
-Needing to recharge with AAA batteries... A robot?!

6. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo: So I was wrong as hell about Yuji last week, he seems very much detached. Regardless, he is trying to both follow Gojo's example (trusting the future, hence why he is letting them fight freely) but also not become so centrilizing of a figure, ironically being LESS like Gojo besides being very much the current "strongest". Now I just wonder if he will be hailed as an honored one himself in the last upcoming bunch of chapters... Back to Tsurugi, he absolutely won the fight here, no shot he didn't. It begs the question as to how he will approach his own statement of "get the hell out of here" now.

7. JK Yuusha: Just a really cute chapter that builds upon Asuka's social life and how DL is affecting it for the BETTER. I liked the twist of everyone just kinda lying to make themselves more appealing, it shows how being honest matters to friendships above everything else. Also the bit of the escalating lies was funny.

--gap--

8. Shinobi Undercover: We get it they are your SQUAD and they aren't USELESS and they are your STRENGTH I get itttt.

9. Under Doctor: 2 chapters in and all procedures have been skipped... Walls of text that just kinda told us what we've already gathered during the first chapter, just with the addition of Haiji's services officially costing and Chiwa's family being unique. Chiwa herself is... Fine, I guess, nothing much I can say about her really. With the action still being very underwhelming, Haiji's simple kindness is carrying the series so far, and it can only do so much. Also, why is the patient's body just BLEACHED in that one page??

10. Gonron Egg: Gonron miraculously saves itself from the bottom by having Selga be kinda cute admittedly. Too bad the art is atrocious as ever and that sequence with the tortured drakarch was panelled really badly. Also, 3 year timeskip? Sure wonder why we got one so early /j.

11. The Mage Next Door: Sure.
