A large indicator I think if the series has legs is Kinato being away from the other two now. Asta, for example, doesn't need Yuno or Noelle to make the series fun. So far, Kinato (not necessarily to me but def others) feel that way. So even if he's not the most interesting, if Amemiya can make the others around him fun, then that's a good sign
That's a common trope actually, the "not so interesting shounen mc that actually enhances all the characters around it", it happened with Reborn too.

It's how I feel about the series too. Just been seeing a lot of people say, especially on JP places "Kinato is too boring or timid". I think it does a great job of being the audiences eyes and ears tbh

Just finished Kinato's Magic 3, got pumped up from the ending pages. Really awesome perspective and fresh new face. I like the traditional feel of the series, great vibes.

I don't know if true or not... but is true Kagurabachi anime will be announced on April 6th 2026? I found this post on istangram
And 6th April is also on Monday... so it's the day of the week when the magazine is published regularly

Let's wait and see what Cyagames will announce

I don't know if there's like a specific credible leaker saying that or something, but there's this:

Basically, Cygames Pictures (the assumed studio for Kagurabachi based on the original "announcement" last year) is doing some restructuring and is being renamed CyPic on April 6th. The studio's 10 year anniversary is April 5th. So combine that with a rebrand, and the natural assumption I guess would be that they're announcing a new project April 6th to go along with this rebrand, and Kagurabachi is the natural assumption since we all know it exists.

It's nothing concrete though, so don't take it as confirmed. Just keep this in mind that it's possible (again, not confirmed).

This Cygame Pictures restructuring also might be why it's taken so long for the Kagurabachi anime to be announced to begin with. This wasn't some spur of the moment decision in the background, and company restructuring is chaos incarnate for the inner operations of businesses usually. Probably wanted to wait till things cooled down.

Yeah, hate to admit it, but good point on Alien Headbutt. It seems like it wants to be two things at once, but the way it's being handled right now isn't good. It needs to stick to one side to improve. I also wish to point out one thing that bothered me, I think it would have been better if we were actually shown more of Shirokiba's time with his family and a better emphasis on his true desire to see them again, while also explaining why he has truly not communicated with them at all for the period of five years, cause i do feel like there's is more to it than that, but that last part is just a guess at this point.

For Kinato's Magic, it's still pretty good. What I would love to see, though, as you said, is some kind of goal for Kinato. I believe it would bring in more potential story arcs and all that stuff.

Lastly, Under Doctor. While I admit I still like it, my biggest critique of the series is how text-heavy it is at times; in my opinion, it should be dialed back.

Now to something else, it's a new week, so another one-shot and its author to talk about. This time, I know some probably won't like the art at all, but I did enjoy what the story could possibly bring if Jump were to allow this kind of setting to appear in the magazine proper.

Personally, the art needs a lot of work, but from what I saw, the world seemed interesting to explore, and the enemies in the story are very different from what you usually see in Shueisha.

I think this author has potential, but needs to REALLY improve the art so that it could reach more readers in and draw their attention to other bombastic one shots.
I already gave my overall thoughts on the current batch. I'm pretty sure, as of right now, Kinato's Magic is going to stay for the long run if it stays this level of consistency. For Under Doctor, yelp if it can tone down the over-explanation and focus on character development and be more show, don't tell; then I think it could have staying power. Alien Headbutt, to me, needs more than just fights, and I think Aqyurs nailed my main issue, and that the protagonist has not shown much care for his family if it took him five years for him to finally come back, like did he not at least send money or a dang letter during that time? I find it hard to believe that. Sorry, it's me being nitpicky here. I hope it changes and actually gives a reason for this to occur, rather than him just wanting to return after becoming champion.

Now, as for the one-shot I posted here, I want some overall thoughts on it if you all could. Mostly asking because I found the world of the one-shot quite interesting and want to see something similar in the main magazine, if possible.

The big 3 doesn't and never existed, but if it did, rn it should be Ichi/Kagurabachi/Nue.

It'd honestly be hilarious if once all 3 are adapted, Nue absolutely explodes in popularity and becomes the highest selling series currently running (sans One Piece if it's still around). It'd be hilarious because I can see it feeling exactly like being a One Piece fan in early 00's America.
I can't remember how many middle and high school arguments I'd have with my buddies at school or online defending being a One Piece fan who wasn't all that fond of Naruto Part 2 or Bleach.

The term don't exist, but the concept have always existed, it's nothing more than the magazine flagships (Not necessarily the ones who sell more), right now its pretty much One Piece, Sakamoto Days and Blue Box, with Kagurabachi and Ichi right there to be promoted right after both SD & BB finishes.

Honestly, considering Nue seems apparently less important for Jump than freaking Roboco, we Nuefans are probably f@cked :biblethump

Is it concerning? This restructuring?

Well then what would we call the early 00's? What was the big 3 in 2003 when One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, Prince of Tennis, Hikaru no Go, Shaman King, Yu-Gi-Oh, Bobobo, Bleach, Black Cat, Rookies, and Stone Ocean were running?

Sure, we can exclude Bobobo, Bleach, Black Cat, Rookies, and Stone Ocean probably.. Especially given the latter two were nearing the end of their run. But One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, Prince of Tennis, Hikaru no Go, Shaman King, and Yu-Gi-Oh, which ones do we cut?

3 is just a dumb arbitrary number that stuck because Naruto and Bleach were so popular over here, and Americans vaguely understood that despite not being huge here yet, that One Piece was way bigger than the other two over in Japan.

But yea, it's so annoying how editorial treats Nue. Why I'm hoping it becomes a huge hit with the anime so they simply won't be able to ignore it.

Tbh this image makes total sense to me, it has all the 3+ year series, and then notable outliers Kagurabachi and Ichi for obvious reasons.

The way things are rn I’d say Akane is more likely than Nue to be a “top 3” contender outside of One Piece, but also I guess we’re focusing battle shonen here and Nue always has that chaos factor going for it (not to mention Someone Hertz currently outsells both of those right now).

I think the most predictable thing that happens is Nue continuing to endlessly teeter the edge of big and not big and all its narrow shortcomings/missed potential will forever be blamed on editorial for meddling with it. But that’s me just being a cautious pessimist.

WARNING: VERY LONG POST AHEAD, THE BLAME GOES ALL ON @WyldViolet! :teehee

3 is not a arbitrary number that stuck with Americans, Jump themselves have most of the time since the 00's promoted 3 series in their group covers (the most clear moments of hierarchy display we have) with some occasional Top 4/5, usually the Top 3 isn't as clear when they're in a transitional moment, for example from 2000 to 2003 they had a period of vagueness where they experimented many combinations, the usual ones being One Piece, Kochikame, Hikaru no Go, Hunter x Hunter and Takeshi as the flagship series in the group covers, with one or two of covers having Naruto already being positioned to the front, some with Yu-Gi-Oh or Bobobo, but none as trully official:

The first time Naruto & Bleach were promoted together in the group covers was in 2004 issue #6-7 but with The Prince of Tennis as a 4th one:

The cover that truly consolidated the iconic "Big 3" was #23-24 of 2004:

From here you can see One Piece, Naruto & Bleach being the clear Top 3 dominant of the magazine, with some Top 4/5 behind the 3 series, rotating between Eyeshield 21, Katekyo Hitman Reborn and others:

This went from 2004 to 2010 with the last time Bleach was part of the "Top 3" being the issue #36-37 of 2010:

We already had a tease of what was going to happen on issue #5-6 of 2011:

But the cover that got burned forever into Bleach fans minds at the time was the iconic issue #20-21, look at Ichigo face lmao!:

Bleach was officially demoted and Toriko promoted to the Top 3! From here it went like this consistently from 2011 to 2014:

But on 2015 & 2016 with Toriko starting to lose steam mostly due to anime ending and the ending of Naruto, Jump went into a kind of awkward time, they kinda decided to for mostly a "Top 2" with One Piece and Assassination Classroom and some mix of Toriko, My Hero Academia and Haikyu:

Until they finally settled up with the new Top 3 in the second half of 2016 that was One Piece, My Hero Academia & Haikyu, first cover:

From here it was this combination with Black Clover right there in 4th many times:

From 2019 they started pushing alongside the Top 3 & Black Clover series like The Promised Neverland, Kimetsu no Yaiba and etc:

Once Haikyu ended in 2020 Jump didn't really wasted time and already promoted Jujutsu Kaisen to the new Top 3:

Now unfortunately since the end of both MHA & JJK Jump has never got a truly definitive Top 3, they do make it obvious that it's like One Piece, Sakamoto Days & Blue Box but they still don't have the same confidence like with the former ones, i guess because they're not long term series and neither really big hits so they keep playing now with Kagurabachi and Ichi too, i do think once SD & BB are done they will be very direct with One Piece, Kagurabachi & Ichi since the 3 are battle shounens so it's like the Jump dream for a Top 3 lol
