At the very least I want him to go wild. Give Himaten a LCP, give Nue one, give Kiyoshi one. Don't only push shinobi.
I know this is very complicated math for this thread but those three series lose readers nearly every volume, while Shinobi gains readers every volume. Hope this helps.

Kiyosho surviving over Astro, Kill Blue and Chojo always felt like editorial had a bias for it. Only Chojo sold less and that had an anime in production. But now, there's no way to axe Kiyoshi because there are too many series naturally ending and newbies rarely sell 10k+, so it's pretty much safe.

It's literally stagnated even though it's promoted as a pillar and sells less than both Hima-ten and Nue digital. If it was so popular, I'm sure all companies would be running to make merch and events for it, but no one does unlike Nue.

And no one is saying to axe it or give no support, but to give some of its support to other series as well.

Someone on Reddit said that Gonron Egg will probably end with more chapters than Kaedegami.

There really is no justice in the world.
Gonron literally matches Kaedegami’s chapter total this week. Yeah, it sucks but its just how it worked out with batch timing.

According to the spoiler on 4chan

The second part won't start anytime soon Now there is a flashback arc
So we may only get something like that on May, for the anime announcement.

That's why some shitty manga shouldn't even start. Gonron was DOA.
They could have let Otr survive longer for example.

Gonna blow your mind here: Nue STILL sells more after 6 Shinobi volumes. Hope this helps.

Kill Blue and especially Astro were dying, they both peaked in v1 and had dropped in sales significantly. Sure they were still above Kiyoshi but they're also by veterans, so if they're not only failing to grow but losing fans that early on then they're probably never going to grow further (compared to a total unknown like Kiyoshi which is starting from zero).

Getting rid of Kill Blue at the same time as announcing an anime is definitely an odd choice however, even if it's a couple years awaye and they don't want it taking space in Jump for that long, surely they could've had it end after the principal's fight and rebrand the council stuff as Part 2 on Jump+ (like how CSM switched for part 2) or something to keep it ongoing until then. Jump+ isn't WSJ's dumping ground, sure, but a series with an anime in the works surely is worth keeping.

Chojo's cancellation would've been completely normal and sensible if not for the anime. The series was mostly dead in the ToC from ch 20.

It's kinda funny because Astro's sale actually became stable at 14k after the axe with no real bleed, the number that Kiyoshi still couldn't achieve even now despite all the push
But I will take the poll thing

I know I've had my criticisms of Saito, but I don't think this Shinobi push is that bad? Sure it's a bit much, but when you compare it to when Kiyoshi, Kill Blue, and even Zumou got pushed in spite of their relatively low sales, Shinobi is actively showing results. It has a consistent growth trend every volume, and volume 5 even reappeared on Shoseki when volume 6 released. Like, if pushing Shinobi a lot makes them more money, why shouldn't they do it?

I also have a hard time believing that Nue, Hima-ten, and Kiyoshi would be showing similar results if they got the same push Shinobi got, Nue hasn't shown any meaningful audience growth since volume 4, which is odd considering volume 1 sold very well and was understocked, showing that Nue appeals very well to a particular audience, but has trouble breaking outside of that. Hima-ten also hasn't had stellar growth since volume 1, backlog has been lackluster, and what it sells now is just what volume one sold but frontloaded (it's why Shinobi and Hima's week one's aren't far apart but in the long run Shinobi sells more). It's not even like Hima-ten is even ignored, especially not in its first year where it got 1st place ToCs and regular color pages (and a cover) so I don't buy that Hima-ten is super ignored or anything, when it was pushed, it didn't grow. And I don't even know how Kiyoshi is getting grouped in these conversations when Jump is treating it extremely kindly when you consider how popular it is (I can accept Nue and Hima fans being mad about Shinobi, but I promise Kiyoshi fans that the Shinobi push is stealing nothing from Kiyoshi).

Meanwhile Shinobi has basically always grown, even before the big push, it has the best backlog and growth out of Hima-ten and Kiyoshi. Maybe Hima-ten and Nue have some sort of potential I'm not seeing, but considering how when you compare their push and performances in their first year, it's not like Shinobi was treated much better in its first year than Hima or Nue, yet it showed consistent growth. Also, regarding the merch sales, it's not like they're suddenly going to go up if Nue starts getting better rankings, it's clear that Nue's audience, while devoted, is outside of the magazine's usual demographics, the merch would still sell even if Nue got transferred to Plus.

This pretty much leads to a simple conclusion, pushing Shinobi makes them more money. Shueisha is a company. While I'm sure Nue and Hima-ten are profitable in their own rights, I don't think a traditional magazine push would make any more money than they do now. Sure, I may be biased, as a Shinobi fan who plans on buying volume 1 when it comes out in English, but I also like Nue! I got miffed when it didn't get the cover and locking it to the bottom 5 is dumb! But it's not abnormal in the history of Jump itself, plenty of very high sellers never got meaningful attention in Jump and ranked low. P6 literally sold the same as Nue and got axed! Saito isn't uniquely bad for having his favorites and ignoring other series. I think a lot of his serializations are bland and uninteresting, but that's another issue.

Also, I think people underestimate how much of a machine Mitarashi is, on top of doing color pages every other chapter, the dude somehow finds the time to post animations on his twitter account, it's clear that the dude is very productive, even more so than some of the other duos.

Nue is on a downwards trend. Shinobi is on an upwards trend. They care about these things. Hope this helps.

Also, I like Nue. I regularly vote for it here. But its not rocket science to see why they are pushing Shinobi right now.

If all they cared about was pure sales we would still have series like 6P, KB, Ichinose, Cipher and Astro instead of Kiyoshi.
