Excellent issue as always! Nue was phenomenal this week. Hertz was also sooo cool! And, Mage is just so fun, I hope the author van return soon, I love their art style. Kinato is also a lot of fun, I'm rooting for it a lot now! Same for Alien, it's crazy and fun. Ichi was super emotional. And I love my trio Kiyoshi/Shinobi/Hima-Ten!! I kinda liked Gonron btw... I'm sure the author would fit on a monthly series, ngl. And Under Doctor is... Interesting? Idk, I need a real arc now...
And KGB .5 was very interesting too.
Modulo is JJK, I like it but eh
And finally, HGDL is cute, for sure.

Hyped for next week chapters!! (tomorrow lol)

I've always wondered if Usazaki specifically requested to be paired with a female writer, after what happened with Act-age. They are WSJ's first all-female duo, right? It's quite the coincidence for one of them to be Usazaki, someone who previously worked on a series cancelled for such a reason. it'd make total sense to me if she did.

At any rate I'm glad Ichi's a hit so that she can get away from the scandal and be associated with something different.

Issue 13 2026 chapter reviews ( I am getting lazy with these, but can you blame me?):

1. Nue's Exorcist: We start with an amazing color page, as usual. The whole resurrection scene has fantastic imagery, lights going out as Soranaki absorbs ALL of the electricity, his speech begins (and regarding this speech, that line about a lost purpose and "floating through space" tingled my foreshadowing senses A LOT, we do not know where the Hyo came from to begin with, so this might be the biggest clue yet) and then BOOM, all the light comes from HIM! Love Kota's creativity, just as I love the new weapons: Hollow Rank is super Xenoblade 2 coded and has incredible weight story wise (as well as the potential to expand the power system evwn further?), while Thunder Vortex makes Soranaki look even more like a Dragon and they both look and attack in such cool ways. The whole chapter is, as twitter would describe it, aura and hype, but I want to also focus on the storytelling at hand, specifically regarding Nue's legacy, and how it is why we are seeing Gakuro and Natsuki overwhelm Soranaki. Starting from Gekka and then moving from generation to generation, we finally arrive at the two individuals who've sown the seeds planted by Nue, the two who CAN kill the Hyo once and for all. That, combined with the page itself showing all of Nue's contractors (and god I hope we see more of them in the story, Raisei and Gekka alone have been so good) is absolutely incredible. I also adore Soranaki's exagerrated expressions, as he keeps overemoting to make up for his inability to actually relate to human emotions. It's so subtle but so brillant. And finally, no I really, REALLY doubt the fight is over here. Only one hollow weapon shown? No monster form dyring the fight? No resolution to his real feelings for Gekka? Yeah no, I really doubt it. Phenomenal chapter as always, in spite of a few art errors such as the lack of Soranaki's ornaments and Gakuro's mysterious Katana in many shots, but hey, 25 pages with a color page will do that.

2. JK Yuusha: Using this series' last stretch to think about the implications of turning DL back into a human is the best thing it could have done with the remaining time. It emphazises Asuka's kind nature and how she is worthy of the "Hero" title.

3. Ichi The Witch: A little way too late to actually develop Kizashi's character but hey, I did not hate his existence in this chapter so that's already a plus. What made this chapter truly hit is the culmination of Chro and Minerva's love, literally fighting against the predetermined rules of all Majik to grant them a few more seconds together, something so little yet so crucial for them.

4. Someone Hertz: Hateful Eight was a great introduction, much better than the rest of the Koshien participants for that matter. He is relatable and a reminder that there is a life behind this silly hobby, as well as being somewhat of a mirror for Mimei to look through.

5. Kagurabachi: I hate Soya as a character, but I like him eating shit in life. Atta Hokazono!

6. Kinato's Magic: Nice to see Seitai being used for support, was afraid it would devolve into purely battle magic, a pitfall that a depressing amount of series with similar premises fall into. Kaminagi continues being hot and we move.

7. Alien Headbutt: It's alright.

8. The Mage Next Door: Major axe vibes, but surprisingly I did not hate that conversation between Osoegawa and the guy. Good on the series I guess.

9. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo: Did... Did I miss something? It feels like we skipped a whole chapter after the first half of this one. Mahoraga and Dabura's fight? Stopped off screen. Yuka, Cross and Tsurugi? Healed in like, one panel each. For as someone who was praising this series so much after its rougher first volume, this is an insane disappointment of basically a finale, the fuck, Gege...

10. Under Doctor: So the author introduced a mute, masked character, only to make them NOT mute, NOR masked. Cool.

11. Gonron Egg: Cheese omelet

A French classic, this fluffy cheese omelet can be whipped up in a matter of minutes and served for brunch, lunch or dinner, accompanied by fresh baguette, toast, a salad or whatever you like. The bistro version usually comes with French Fries, but as they’re a bit of a production to make at home I generally give that a miss. For best results, use very fresh free-range or organic eggs. For the cheese, the traditional choice over here is Comté or Gruyère, but this omelet is also delicious with aged cheddar and many other cheeses. I like to sprinkle it with fresh herbs, such as basil — as shown in the photo — or dill, cilantro or parsley. The quantities below will serve one person. If there are two at your table, you can double the recipe and either make separate omelets one at a time or make a giant omelet and cut it in half before serving. If you’d like to have wine with your omelet, red would go nicely.

2 ounces (55 g) Comté, Gruyère or another cheese (about 3/4 cup loosely packed)
3 eggs
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. butter
1 tsp. olive oil
fresh herbs: basil, cilantro, dill or parsley (optional)
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Grate the cheese, using the larger holes of your grater. Set aside. Break the eggs into a bowl. Whip with a wire whip. Add the water — this lightens the omelet. Whip again until frothy. Heat the butter and olive oil to sizzling in a well-seasoned omelet pan. Let it get good and hot before adding the eggs, swirling it around to coat the sides. Pour in the eggs. Swirl. When the omelet starts to set, lift one edge with a wooden spatula to let some of the liquid slip beneath. Working quickly, repeat several times at different places around the pan. This will make the omelet fluffy. Scatter the cheese over the entire surface of the omelet. Turn the heat down to medium and continue to cook until the cheese starts to melt. Sprinkle with salt (not much, as the cheese is already salty) and grind on some black pepper. Scatter with fresh herbs if using. Slip the omelet gently onto a plate, flipping the top half over the bottom. Serves one.

I'd personally use more butter in an omelet like this, a tsp seems a bit too little.

Nope, it was Nishi that specifically requested Usazaki because she liked her art and saw she was still active under Jump. Usazaki was unsure, but they had a meeting later and agreed to work together.

I can back that up cause not to long ago, there was a post or an article talking about it.

Funny how i just realised now when we talk about promotions and stuff we kinda just completely forget about Blue Box lol It was the 2nd best selling manga in the magazine until just a short time ago but somehow it barely gets any cover & lead cp, it literally just 2 covers in 2025, same in 2024, that's really low for a flagship series and i'm sure it has nothing to do with health stuff since Miura has pretty much pumped out color pages each 4 chapters for years, so she's perfectly fine, i guess even when you're literally the magazine 2nd/3rd in command being a romance/romcom on Jump will still means getting less covers...

It got the second most color pages outside of Akane (tied with Shinobi). If the point is it should get more than like 2 LCPs in a serialization year, maybe but has there been a genre outside of action or fantasy in recent years that's gotten 3+ covers?

I know in the past gag manga have and if there was a successful Spoken maybe they would too

Sport is the other genre alongside action that gets more than 3 covers when you have a big hit, but outside that there's not much since on Shonen Jump is always either action/battle shounen or sport that are the best selling series going on, a romance being the 2nd/3rd best selling manga on Shonen Jump is a complete anomaly.

Sorry for the silence, I've been busy with my mentorship.

Anyhow, there has been a question that I have been curious to ask all of you guys:

Would it not be very interesting to see a manga series have its own take on Scooby Doo, of all things?

Like a group of teens traveling around with their pet, solving all kinds of strange stuff, whether supernatural or not.

(This is a joke post)

Ryuhei Tamura must be a curse that makes publishers go into controversies.

All that watsuki stuff happened a month after hungry Marie got cancelled.

Act age got discontinued only weeks after hard boiled cop and dolphin started.

And now that he moved to Shogakugan with Cosmos , this happened.

Detective manga (supernatural or not) are very common, even WSJ's had a few.

I mean, around the stuff I said, I know it has detective manga, whether or not it's supernatural. It's mostly about it being a group of teens instead of just one protagonist or duo doing the whole solving scheme that normally happens.

Yep, The Mage Next door is 100% ending after Gonron Egg in like 3-ish issues, still not 100% sure about JK Hero since this chapter was just a regular one but this kind of series can just end like nothing too.

Kota popped the fuck off these past few weeks with the imagery holy shit
Don't know if it was just me but Kawae's art felt like different than usual, at least more cleaning with the imagery which usually is so detailed and i say that as something positive, Soranaki design with the hollow weapon is badass

Well Roboco had a very normal chapter, so it's not rushing to the end it seems. Really solid issue, actually feel motivated to vote again.

Issue 14 votes:
1. Akane
2. Witch Watch
3. Nue
4. Ichi
5. Kiyoshi
