Never got the impression the last batch was doing well, numbers were mid to low and only Kinato had some online support, but it still was divisive. I'm more surprised he pushed Under Doctor under Alien, but all 3 will be gone at some point.

I think their best bet short term is to bring back an extremely big author like Sorachi per batch, and hope the wave of excitement for said author coming back is enough to carry multiple series in the batch until they have a full lineup again.
Not that I disagree, but Roku's views numbers were bad enough it didn't get any Sorachi boost. We'll see with the TOC, but I'm doubtful it won't go straight to bottom like this batch and the last one.

I mean, did anyone here legitimately expected hertz to be a hit? Much more a 40k seller hit?

As soon as the fanarts started dropping by the dozens, that's only when most people started being optimistic about it's survival.

I look up old comments on it's jumplus views, and the people here even say it had bad view numbers. 🙄

I'd be surprised if the Jump Press unveils Kagurabachi anime. It is a weird move to do that before a magazine break. But Saito is so ilogical I can see that happening.

The level of success? not, but Hertz was good from start and just kept getting better and better, also the reception online with comments and fanarts was like Nue level, so at a point it was predictable it would be well received in the ToC.

Am mostly curious about the toc of the Sorachi issue. Mostly to see how things are by thenand whether Kinato is truly doomed as certain people say.

Also, am I the only one who noticed that some of the recent posts kinda were extremely pessimistic around any new series in jump or just jump in general? I thought I was a bit crazy when I thought of it first but after the toc launch and some posts here, well I can't help myself but be kinda eye rolling my way and having to see it constantly.

Now I get the feeling why some of the more experienced posters wait a few days or hours to post anything just so that they can get past the more annoying or pessimistic posts. Am sorry for having judged too soon.

Anyway, ignoring for now, but I do have plans to posts some one shot raws here and there as we go through the usual month until the issue of jump giga. So stay tuned for that.

Having a lot of fanart always makes me think the series is safe. It's not a rule because somehow Ping Pong Peril had a bunch and didn't perform well, while series that don't get almost anything like Himaten, Shinobi and Kiyoshi survived just fine. But Ruri, Nue, Bachi, Hertz all got a fanart following early.

A hawk? An eagle? Maybe an owl?
Shinobi Undercover no doubt. Everyone has bird-based codenames. Nue fans need to accept their place as Saito's unfavorite child. Why would they get anything at this point?

Mashle and Undead Unlock had similar issues when starting, and given how winter batches work, I would not be at all surprised if this is another of those moments once again happening. We shall see, not gonna go the negative. Its too overbearing and annoying to a dude like me.
Going by the TOC, Mashle didn't start out like this current batch at all. It got a color page at ch 12 (which wasn't late for its time; it was still relatively fine if a series got one that late), didn't enter the bottom 5 once during its first year, got a cover and lead color page before its anniversary, and was generally in the middle of the TOC when it wasn't getting color pages.

Undead was closer to these three, but it also never reached the bottom 2 in its first year and went on to win the Tsugi Manga Award (which would imply it always had good online support at the very least) while I'm not even sure any of the Under Kinato's Headbutt batch are getting nominated this year.

I'm all for still believing in series that look like they're doing extremely bad before volume sales, but the past year has been new series that dropped to the bottom 2/3 before volume 1 come out all dying before their first volumes even release. Otr is basically the only one that did drop to the bottom 2/3 that didn't immediately die (Harukaze didn't start falling into the bottom 3 until its batchmates started getting axed and its first volume already came out and flopped), and most people think it didn't deserve that chance to rebound. At some point you have to be at least somewhat realistic, even if you still believe in the struggling series.

Not that I disagree, but Roku's views numbers were bad enough it didn't get any Sorachi boost. We'll see with the TOC, but I'm doubtful it won't go straight to bottom like this batch and the last one.
Yeah, I said it was their best shot, not that it was a guarantee to work (I pointed out Hakutaku didn't get the outside audience that came to check out Ichi since it wasn't good at all). It's also possible Drawn to the Fire is the one that gets the Sorachi name benefit instead. I think the one shot was high quality, so I believe it could theoretically get people who read it on a whim to stick around too, but obviously can't prove that yet. It could also have no chance at all because Jump readers clearly aren't interested in new sports series at the moment.

Nah, humans are lazy as fuck and love accessibility. We're on our way to becoming literal Teletubbies.
Okay, that’s funny. And next we will have a baby sun smiling down on us.

Oh its not a rule. I can confirm that as I was in the thread during Teenage David-kun Renaissance, I say some good fan art but that did not save it.

Also, there are series that don't get much fan art much but are successful, it happens often in other magazines as well.

Shinobi Undercover no doubt. Everyone has bird-based codenames. Nue fans need to accept their place as Saito's unfavorite child. Why would they get anything at this point?
Honestly, I really curious to see how things will be when either or ends in the future. Cause frankly, the amounts of posts around either or series has filled the past and now threads most than ant other series. Its both impressive but kinda frustrating when one wishes to talk about any other series. But its kinda understandable at least. Although I hope nuesmoker remains here even after nue ending primarily cause the fellow knows how to play around and give some solid comments for other series despite the bias, which he admits without shame. Kinda jealous actually.

Considering how long a manga needs to get ready before serialization (from 3 months to half a year, maybe even longer if we count the brain storm phase), I think Nakano might have been the one that got Ichi
I had that discussion with some friends about that.

I have seen some Alien Headbutt fan art, so you’re not wrong. It was one of the things another person I know outside of this site told me, and I wanted to ask people like Shinuki about it. Well, I guess it might be true.

Am a fan of Kinato, does it suck doo doo balls to see its placement with zero color pages thus far? Absolutely. But guess what? Mashle and Undead Unlock had similar issues when starting, and given how winter batches work, I would not be at all surprised if this is another of those moments once again happening. We shall see, not gonna go the negative. Its too overbearing and annoying to a dude like me.
Mashle didn't enter the bottom 5 until ch.30 and when undead unluck was doing badly there were always other series doing worse.

Man, some folks really yearn that Under Doctor and Kinato's magic to be axed that is want am seeing in some of the previous pages, Jesus Christ. Also some of you folks are incredibly pessimistic, ain't calling names but jeez, can like we relax? Any new batch is likely going to be at the bottom, jump has no cushions left and if a series does not meet an overall expectation then well it sucks. Also I expect next week's TOC to be a tad more telling. Although cannot wait for who incredibly down in the dumps some of the future posts are going to be like, yay! Everyone wants to heard it constantly. Like it did in some of the previous days. It wasn't annoying to see it constantly at all.
You are probably talking about me but it doesn't change the fact that I am right lol

There are litteraly no other series to freely axe except the new batch.

And as we can see from the toc , excluding the series that just ended , kinato and under doctor are bottom 2 .

When I read "rings and necklaces" I immediately thought of Kiyoshi too (since he has like five rings) but the necklace isn't related directly to kiyoshi and i say.. "If could be a reference to Tenma Sakaki?"

Then, though, I saw others writing HxH, and I thought to myself:
"Assuming there might be an anime in the works (fan copium moment haha), would you really prioritize Kiyoshi over HxH?" No way...

I really just have to wonder if there’s an apathy around new series in jump now. Like unless there’s a big name returning, or the series gets lucky and goes viral, we’re getting like record low viewership for each new batch. You know it’s bad when like dead anemone’s viewership from 2 years ago is something that most new batches can only dream of attaining.
And so I wonder if that lack of viewership translates into a lack of votes. This decline did seem to match up with jjk and mha ending, so it very well may be that people only stick with jump to see their existing series off, but they don’t care enough to check out the new series. This is just a vibes based take tho.
My apathy comes from the lack of originality (or punch or whatever) in the charadesign/settings/pitch/concept/type of characters.

Like "Oh yeah, I've already read/watched something like this. NEXT!". When it buzzes on the internet, then I take a look at it.

Believe me. I do know when to be realistic and I have been quite blunt about past batches if you seen some of my previous comments over the years you would know this, but I also now that am only human. So nothing can really be done about that, not when you want something to be achieved. If this turns out like another David-kun scenario I will take it, however I will say that Saito is a massive moron for it cause its quite evident that it has indeed an audience, especially when we have something like Hiimaten speed dialing its ending from all the stuff that happens in the story that in all honesty would not shock me if it ends around after its second year anniversary.

Not to mention that Alien Butthead is also ending in the summer batch as it was the worst launch on this batch and its quite telling when see the newest chapter.

Then there is Blue Box that is heading towards its ending as naturally as one can and with a much better developed cast of characters than nisekoi could have ever hoped to achieve.

Mashle didn't enter the bottom 5 until ch.30 and when undead unluck was doing badly there were always other series doing worse.

Not you, you were not being insufferable about it on a constant basis compared to others. So relax, but I can see your point but I kinda wanna wait a bit, since I kinda wanna see what happens this issue to see what happens in terms of story. Because I was a fan of Mage next door but after some chapters I could see its end quite clearly so I tapped out. With Kinato is far harder to see that to be honest.

Well with HSF, I’m sure it was in the pipeline for some time and for it to find people who would adapt it is courageous. Kill Blue and Chojo on the other hand must have had some strings pulled and offers to Nakano to get those greenlit sooner. I guess Saito is becoming more aggressive and won’t settle for mid tier titles while opening up more space in the magazine to push for his series to be hits.

Do you know any reason on why they got greenlit and will be airing before a Kagurabachi anime? It still makes me impressed.

I have an interesting opinion about that, but before I can answer it, I have one main question. Of the new wave of artists, how far back can you say the new wave has been where the stuff they are putting out is disappointing?
I’d say we actually got quite a lot in the previous decade. Just look at Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutusu Kaisen, Boku no Hero Academia, Chainsaw Man and others. That’s a ton of interesting titles, and honestly, some of them could easily have been published even in past golden eras.

But in this current decade I don’t really see any major title emerging yet, and we’re already past the halfway point. That’s concerning.
