Issue 20 rankings:

Tier 1 (Great):

1 - Ichi The Witch (yeah this was peak for me. Great worldbuilding and lore, funny as hell, new characters looks dope, and a surprise twist at the end! I can already see a Desscaras and Minakata rivalry over Ichi developing lmao.)
2 - Akanebanashi (Love the art in this series, and Akane's version of God of Death is pretty good - just let the audience come to their own conclusions. Very risky, but fits her)
3 - Shinobi Undercover (funniest chapter of the week by far. Every time i see the little Yodakas in his mind, I think of that Spongebob moment. The new Yodaka variant, Rational Thinking, is hilarious as was Yodaka's dramatic goodbye to the fake OP)
4 - Kagurabachi (I mean, it's more aurafarming, but the good kind. The last page is a fantastic way to build tension. Mashiro's sorcery and fighting style is cool....shame he's about to probably die a horrible death)
5 - Sakamoto Days (I said last week that Shishiba's fights/chapters are always a highlight of the series, and this is no different. Fantastic art and emotions, the best SD chapter in a LONG time)

Tier 2 (Good):

- Under Doctor (a pretty good chapter imo, I enjoy that it feels like both a fight and an examination, i like Maxell's backstory too)
- Witch Watch (hilarious way to deal with you being linked to your opponent damage wise....worst opponent ever for him lol)
- Kinato's Magic (Yeah he's just Deku again, but that ain't a bad thing. I really like Talius's magic, it's like Todo's ability but a bit more versatile. The double page spread for the final punch was very very cool looking, I love how "gritty" it looks)
- Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi (Good fight so far. It's funny how immortal enemies always lets authors go a bit more crazy with the violence lol)
- Blue Box (Finally a bit more on the younger brother and his backstory. I've always liked the sports focused bits of the series)
- Alien Headbutt (The two new aliens look dope and the spiky one is a vibe.....also we've rescued one sibling! Result)
- Someone Hertz (Cute, like nearly every chapter of this series lol)
- Roku (I see opinion of this second chapter is not the best on here, but honestly? I quite enjoyed it. I thought it was funny, it's comforting to see them all play games together and rather wholesome, especially to involve Altra more. Actually I can see this becoming a very comforting series for me if it goes on for a while. Also them coming up names for Johan because he wouldn't give them his real name was humourous. I can see what people mean by this shouldn't have been the 2nd chapter, more like a 5th or 6th, but I thought it was good)
- Drawn to the Fire (Yeah this was pretty good. It's basically just the same as the one shot, more or less, and I enjoyed that a lot as well. The art's nice, the story is so far engaging....I've always loved sports manga, so I'll always root for new ones whenever they appear kinda by default, but I truly feel like this could actually be good. Now to see how the author does with this beyond one chapter!)

Tier 3 (Ok):

- Nue's Exorcist (Kasha summoning bodies to walk down them like stairs was really funny/awesome)
- Hima Ten (Cat's ok, that's all I care about)
- Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits (Fine ending, basically just seeing everyone again one last time. I thought the series found it's footing eventually but it was too late unfortunately)
- Me and Roboco (I've never seen a gag character go back and fix themselves from an earlier panel lol)

Tier 4 (Bad):

N/A

Tier 4 having N/As is becoming more and more common on my ranking recently, I think the magazine is in a pretty ok place for me right now overall, just gotta hope for some of the new series to survive lol.

"Current development with Kinato is too much like Deku from My Hero Academia"
Has there been online chatter in how Jump can get hits or what 2025 series were missing? I guess I’m curious what the JP audience is looking for in my favorite genres of battle and action adventure.

Everyone, I’m curious. Did the author of Kaedegami get the notification of getting cancelled at chapter 7?

And thank you.
After Kaedegami's axe, Jun Harukawa joined a twitter space for Nue's Exorcist (it seems she's a fan).

- Harukawa love her dad as she can't stop mentioning about him over and over again.
- Harukawa used to watch horror movie/show with her dad back in middle school.
- Back in the middle school, Harukawa used to think Santa is a fat monster who kill everyone during Christmas so she always keep a box cutter under her pillow.
- Harukawa got the idea of creating a Chinese-themed manga after being inspired by Yoshika Miyako and Koihime Musou.
- Chiyo and Kou’s dynamic was heavily inspired by 100/Yao and Nue/Gakuro’s relationship, but with a slight twist.
- Kou was originally meant to be a timid, nervous boy with a heart of gold, but the editor asked her to change it to avoid overlapping with other manga.
- After the change, Kou was Harukawa’s least favorite character, but she eventually grew to love him.
- Kou and Chiyo’s relationship was initially planned to develop into something more romantic.
- She learned that Kaedegami was canceled right after completing draft for Chapter 7.
- She only got about three hours of sleep a day during Kaedegami’s serialization.
- She sometimes forgot to eat, which led her editor to check on her every eight hours.
- Huazi’s character was inspired by Reimu from Touhou and Rin from Fate.
- Chiyou was originally meant to be a silent and cool type, but Harukawa later decided to change her personality.
- Harukawa got her dad to become a fan of Nue's Exorcist and MAO.
- Harukawa joked about making a Yuri harem manga with straight protagonist."

I think is important to clarify, this part about the series getting axed on ch3 or 4 is just a assumption, she supposedly mentioned (and we also don't even have actual proof she said that, only from some person that was there) that she got the notification when was drawing ch7.

It's sad but not too surprising. We've known for a while now that authors get notified of cancellations about 2 months in advance, so for U19 series it makes sense to have such few chapters released. Always made me wonder how bad a series' metrics (that Shueisha have access to) must be for a cancellation to be decided on so early.
