WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP THREAD RULES​

#5. Don't post news about series from other magazine or publishers in the WSJ thread, post in the series own thread, but it's fine if you're mentioning other series or magazine to express a opinion or reflection about Shonen Jump.
#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

Speaking of which, I'm enjoying DttF. I love basketball, so it would be easy for me to like it. The chemistry between the main characters is great, their team has potential to go dar in the tournaments etc. I guess there will be a 3rd main player to help them soon enough, let's see.

A spokon that I liked but was axed in M+ was Rugby Rumble. I hope the author gets another chance, and I wish it is on WSJ. Not necessarily another spokon, of course, as much as I still want to read a new truly good football (soccer) series.

I’d like to see Tabata take a break but come back in a couple years. Never read hungry joker but people praise it so it’d be cool if he did a dogsred kind of thing but with a jump+ schedule. I know he’s had a rough few years though

What 10’s mangaka do you think would come back? I’d like to see horikoshi back for sure. Any axed series guys like genki ono you’d like to see back? I loved the art from zipman and golem hearts, would like to see the back one day.

Kubo is busy with the anime but has teased manga things, so do you guys think Kishimoto could come back? I know samurai 9 was a big blow to him but he might do better with a jump+ series.

I've seen a lot of the shonen kiddies on Reddit praise it, the same type who love Otr.
Tbh tho, Hungry Jokers start was terrible, but it did seem to start to find its groove by the time it was cancelled. I think Tabata is just terrible at beginnings.

The power system was pseudo intellectual/pretentious solely due to the name dropping and misunderstanding science shit. However, it still had some really cool powers. Plus the whole haunted house aesthetic was really neat for a Jump series. Also think the cast was a lot more interesting than anyone in Otr.

Like, I don't think Hungry Joker is a good series so I don't really care to argue which shit is more shit.
But like, Otr was around the same level of "deserved to be cancelled". It wasn't good, man. Never will be.

It feels like you're always saying the same thing to try separate the "terrible" thing you like from the "terrible" thing you don't like as if being pretentious or something else is a consolation prize or makes anything better.

I mean, I've been consistent that I don't really enjoy bland series. Especially when the characters aren't interesting. Otr is both bland and has empty characters.
I've also been consistent that I respect series that try to do something unique, even if they fail.

I like Hungry Joker more than Black Clover actually

I much prefer the 24 chapters of Hungry Joker to the first 24 of Black Clover.
Black Clover eventually became interesting, but god did I find it unbearable up until around the arc the castle got invaded the first time.
Hungry Joker was an incredibly flawed series and often very grating, but at least you could tell Tabata was trying to do something interesting. Meanwhile with Black Clover he tried to play things way too safe at first. Same issue with Otr tbh, but Tabata has always been more passionate than Kawaguchi.

I want a part of this, but I need some time. Also I will have a strict rule regarding authors on age, success and failure rates, and finally it has to have been an author from 2016-2026. Since we are getting authors return (successful and not who have returned after 7-8 years), I have to keep it within a ten year rule with all of these considerations and where everyone is now if they left Weekly Jump and are doing something else in a different publication.

Of all the "main" team sports, I think basketball is probably the best suited for sports manga.

I'm honestly surprised that basketball was ever look down as a spokon manga until slam dunk.
Since forever did i think football (soccer) has always been the hardest one to adapt.

Another thing i'm surprise is the lack of skateboard or rollerblading manga. Early Air Gear was so much fun.
Maid to Skate is the only thing i can think of.

Sometimes an axed manga is better or at least had more potential than the series the mangaka later got success with.
I mean, nobody really thinks Nisekoi is better than Double Arts.

But ya, Sensei no Bulge was not very good. I didn't really care for OmaZoo either tbh, but I appreciate how weird it was. He struck gold with MHA.
