WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP THREAD RULES​

#4. Don't bring politics or off-topic stuff to the thread, this is about Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and mangas, so keep any conversation about topics that aren't related about anime & manga outside the thread.
#5. Don't post news about series from other magazine or publishers in the WSJ thread, post in the series own thread, but it's fine if you're mentioning other series or magazine to express a opinion or reflection about Shonen Jump.
#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

Alien Headbutt axed as expected. That series was too self-serious for a series about a pro wrestler fighting aliens which was titled Alien Headbutt. It really needed to be as whacky as it seemed to be for a better leg up. Oh well, till next time.

Under Doctor with another Color Page to say, "Hey, I survived!" While this protects it for another batch, it's hard to say if this is full on protection. They pulled the same stunt with Red Hood... Wait no, shit, what was the manga called? I only remember his first one. Anyway, I think we all agree that it's been taking a different direction, so it might be an attempt to see this change could shift it's trajectory toward better reception. Kinato's Magic is also interesting to talk about: Had it been axed, it would've been axed before Alien Headbutt, not after it. The likelihood it gets a Color Page to offer some protection is low, but it's got some legs to survive at the very bottom of the mag for an entire batch. Axed manga would kill for this type of luck. It's possible that there's an attempt to bank in on its potential as an ecchi series and take over for Nue's Exorcist's spicier bits as that one moves toward aura-farming or something. Hard to say if there's cashmoney to be found here.

Anyway, the new batch is super exciting. On one corner, we've got 22i teaming up with the 'tis Time for Torture Princess author for a work, both authors with successful series under their belts. One the other, the favourite underdog, Kento Terasaka, fresh out of a disappointing defeat from the underground cult-classic Green Green Greens going for Formula 1 (a very out of box concept for the current years of Jump) and Reiya Machida as the newbie with undeniable talent.

The batch before this with Roku, 2B and Fire Basketball wasn't as heated and intense as I would've liked it to be. So here's hoping this batch is white hot.

Man, with Kento Amemiya desperately drawing women in a bid for survival and 22i crawling back into the ring with writing reinforcement, for the next two months, I'm gonna be fed so well.

I think Kagurabachi is the only recent series where (a portion of) fandom is willing to work within the system by actually putting money where their mouth is.

Not that any voting from overseas will actually save AH. That series is too far gone. But yeah lots of people who cry over AH do not understand how axe works

Because axed series end in chronological order, so it has to end first, the content also pretty much confirms it's not ending too.

Animal Signal probably isn’t a medical series like Wild Life, but it’s close enough. For what it’s worth, I did enjoy Wild Life back then.

Because for axes, they go by release order. Since Alien Headbutt's getting axed this issue, that would mean Kinato is safe this round. It's almost definitely getting cut next batch, unless a miracle turnaround happens, but it's not getting cut this time.
