RIP Alien Headbutt, you were okay-ish I guess. Mei should've been introduced in chapter 2 instead of it spending so long on some kid.

I think there's a lot of issues beyond that though, the MC here felt like he already finished his whole character arc off-panel and didn't have any room to grow as a result besides occasionally getting new powers. Add that to the lack of side characters (seriously we had 2 up until it went it rush mode to get cancelled, and one was just a kid around to react to the fights) and the nonstop fighting with no room to breathe, and it was a series that never had much of a chance.

Akane: A guy with "live" in his name performing God of Death huh
Alien Headbutt: Kinda reminded me of Reversi's ending
Ruri: So... Ruri's mom... and uh... that very big dragon?
Under Doctor: ... A 20 years coma (yeah may as well be coma) patient with no feeding tube nor fluids ....

Oh interesting about Nue. I feel like the goal though is to have Gakuro eventually make a decision; maybe they do an elusive samurai ending lol or maybe it just ends as a cliffhanger. Frankly I don’t even know who I’d have him choose to be with… maybe Suo?
Idk to me it feels Kawae is definitely setting up the harem ending, with jokes about Gakuro marrying all of the girls, and earnestly proclaiming how he's going to make them all happy.

Really great issue of Jump, most excited I've felt reading the mag in a while. After a couple of meh chapters Hero Destroyerz really won me back with the comedy and the plot setup. Also Ichi really elevated Fujimine's threat level this chapter. And Ruri is back! Choosing a top 5 was tough.

1: Roboco
2: Hertz
3: Roku
4: Destroyerz
5: Fire

That spread in Ichi “Boy, I love you all sooo much // and I hate your rotten guts” went hard as fuck.

Finally the arc gets good again. Fujimine is peak

I swear it's always one step forward and three steps back with Kinato man. Kinato’s problem was being unable to use magic on himself, so the solution was to use magic on himself.?? Like what am I reading??????

Woooooo. So I guess its a summer return? On that note, both Blue Box and Himaten seem like they have under a volume's worth of content left, so maybe thats why its a 3 batch rn.

The way i see some commenting about Tsutsui (not necessarily here) you would think the guy is some terrible writer or something, weird thing...
Well, for me, I just feel fatigued, mainly because we just had an all-returnee batch and would've preferred the June batch to be more rookie-centric rather than being vet-heavy...

Who was the all-returnee batch? This one and the last one both have a rookie, and then the UD/KM/AH was two rookies and a returnee.

Roku/DttF/Class2B is the all-returnee, Nakamura was Agravity Boys's author, Satosho did Momiji no Kisetsu in 2018 and of course Sorachi with Gintama.

Oh huh, for some reason I assumed satosho was a rookie. Thanks for clarifying.

So HxH is likely coming next batch or when one of SD/Himaten/BB ends.

UD's editor should have told hime to make Haiji a martial art genius but is clumsy and inexperienced at medicine (or vice versa, but I think the weak at medicine would be good edutainment) or set it in a more psuedo-fantasy world with diseases inspired by real life ones. Haiji just being this genius medicine god and martial arts god just kind of strains progress and development.

I really don't like how Hima-Ten! is wrapping up.
Now I was never a Honoka supporter tbh (Kanna deserved it, but we all knew that wouldn't happen), and didn't really mind that Himari would end up winning in the end. However, I can't help but feel that Himari is putting Iemori in a position where he has to choose her. Feels kind of manipulative. Not really intentionally on her part, hell in this chapter she seems to reveal that she had given up hope. But forcing him into the public eye with her through this magazine shoot & cover, especially after the debacle that one Twitter photo caused, only results in the two of them being further linked.
Yes, he has feelings for both Himari and Honoka, however Honoka just doesn't have such assets to compete in such a way.
Just rubs me the wrong way tbh.

Issue 27:

1. Nue's Exorcist

Considering how her name is the first thing in the manga's title, Nue was always, surprisingly, a mysterious character, always planning and being the brains of the group more than the emotional core. There are a few scenes here and there where she showed emotions, like when she thanked the group for surviving Raisei's attack during the Ritual Blade arc.

But this is the first major chapter where the focus seems to be on Nue behind her facade. Her reaction to Gakuro wanting to be stronger, her seeing Gekka's party on the squad, how her usual trust on Gakuro seems to be shaken. As Kasha has a deep hatred of Nue, she has a deep fear of him and sees this Hyo as the most likely to do another massacre. Is she feeling like she might be leading everyone to death?

A major theme of this arc seems to be trust. Gekka didn't think they needed more than her and Gakuro, so she ended up losing her weapon and arm to Kasha. But Nue is on the same side, she doesn't think they can get stronger and win as a group. The idea of everyone working together to show they can is exciting, but so is also the idea that Nue's plan next chapter might be rejected by Gakuro for the first time, if she's going for something risky to herself. It's time for Nue to be explored more.

2. Ruri Dragon

Ruri being back would be almost enough to be ranked high, but the chapter itself is Ruri greatness again. The dialogue with her mom feels both casual/natural, but also significantly emotional and sincere. Hitting right on this point is the best aspect of Shindo's writing. Ruri is on a journey to understand herself more as a dragon, but in that cave, she understood more about herself as a human and her mother's daughter. Both sides exist and make up who she is.

The dragon at the end is a fantastic closer to the chapter.

3. Hero Destroyerz

Best comedy chapter, by a lot, so far. I'm not that against the toilet humor as many are, but it's impossible to deny Sorachi is much funnier when he can expand his range of topics and bring more characters to the fun. Everything about the dead hero, the criticism of the PTA, the lazy spell, etc, everything landed.

It also fully shows us the manga's basic concept and how things will be from now on. Everyone becoming demons and having to fight the light kingdom warriors is a cool concept and better than what we assumed this would be.

4. Roku

This was pretty funny as well. Maybe the "everyone actually loves these guys" gag could get old later in the manga, but so far it's funny. It's also a different type of character bringing up two specific curses and letting them dynamic define the chapter.

5. Himaten

When Himari mentioned she fell in love because Tenichi understands her work mentality I was happy. Work was always the core of their relationship and what they have in common, not that they worship the idea of work itself, but they're both young and dedicated to their craft and doing things in a way to bring happiness to their client. Basically, earnestness is cuteness.

As for Alien Headbutt, it was an ending, alright. I don't want to be too harsh, but this never felt like it tried to say much or bring anything new to the table (with wrestling being more of a gimmick than story element), but I also didn't think it did the basics well enough to stick around. It is what it is, good luck next time, but anyone saying this getting axed means "Jump will die" needs to take a step back.

But forcing him into the public eye with her through this magazine shoot & cover, especially after the debacle that one Twitter photo caused, only results in the two of them being further linked.
Funnily enough, many japanese comments complain that he's wishy washy and gives signal to all girls instead of sticking to what he says. lol I don't mind both of these things anyway, they're all messy in how they deal with their feelings and don't notice how they all make things more complicated this way. But that's just teenagers being teenagers for me and yes, that means they may manipulating each other some what. I dig it.

No way Sakamoto Days ends before like this fall at the earliest imo. Suzuki clearly has another volume or so left in him for these final 2 fights.

That is a good point tbf. The messiness of all the characters is one of the things that most endeared me to the series. They do feel like real teenagers for the most part.
But like, while I love the insecurity and erratic nature behind the thought processes of the characters. Like Iemori being wishy-washy doesn't bother me, because that's just being a teenager.
It just feels iffy for it to be the way Himari gets to actually be the final girl, regardless of if manipulation is also "just being a teenager". I wouldn't mind this development much if it blew up in her face in some way. To be a learning lesson in how she uses her privilege. However it feels like this is gonna be how it wraps up.
Although I guess y'never know.
Just Himari's lack of awareness over her privilege has always been something that has bugged me.
