So, I started to go back to an old Jump title called Outer Zone, and after I finished a chapter the author wrote about how they did some work on video games. The thing that shocked me wasn’t that he did games, but that he mentioned about a video game that he didn’t remember but I knew what it was. It was a Taito game for the arcade, and it was for a fighting game called, “Violence Fight.” I was like, “No, it can’t be.” Then sure enough it was as it was only one of two fighting games that were mentioned that Taito worked on.

Jesus, i understand that it's the schedule but at this point Yuto Suzuki is just publishing storyboard art with the background done by the assistants, and this is the final battle of the series, it should be the climax of the series, not look this bad...

Class 2B had its funniest chapter so far this week, the sequence of events with Valaris losing her memory and joining the hero side had me dying

Nue at least seems like it'll be an easy series to keep up with weekly, which is good because its batchmate Kill Blue was a miserable weekly read

Haruhara and 22i looked at Himaten and Blue Box ending and said "that's where we come in" to great effect (to me at least)

Hertz had a joke about the libero in volleyball, which I decided to take as a Beelzebub reference despite that probably not being the intention

Unless Miyazaki completely runs out of ideas I could see Roboco surpassing Jaguar's chapter count, or even Gintama pre-final arcs (though there's always a chance it could end sooner than later)

Issue 34:

1. Hunter x Hunter
Originally I was going to rank this second because as interesting everything was, it's one of these chapters that makes me wish we could have a version of the story with better presentation, but then that ending happened. It's not that I'm specifically happy to see them back, but about how this was delivered at the perfect point.

This arc is all about the worst of society. How much of it is rotten and how low things can sink. We're talking about family killing family, struggle for powers and even the idea of killing a baby. And I could see Kurapika falling to it as his desire for revenge could sink him as well. But everything that happened before gave him a light that can lead him out of this situation. As bad as things can be, there's still hope out there.

2. Nue's Exorcist
This is also a chapter I love everything that happens in it, but I would love for a slightly slower version of it. Shounen Jump isn't kind to anyone, so I get why Kawae has to keep moving. That said, this was the battle we needed to see as Yagyo was always the villain Gakuro didn't have the strength to beat back then.

As we keep showcasing Gakuro's growth, seeing the siblings again getting their rematch is great enough, but giving some spicy bits of characterization to Yagyo made this even more fun. lol

3. Someone Hertz
Is that Mizuo being possessive of Mimei?! I don't cave relationship progress every chapter and I'm fine just enjoying the laid back vibe of the series, but it always balances well these moments to give even more meaning to the beauty of their daily life.

4. Animal Signal
And somehow this is also progressing romantically. This is the first hint of interest for Tsubasa. He already admired her, but this date moved things forward.
It's a simple chapter playing it as straight as possible and that's good when you have a duo that mastered how to bring out maximum cuteness from both writing and art.

5. Under Doctor
Surprisingly strong chapter and I probably would rank it higher if I cared more about the established characters. I originally wanted this manga to be a medical drama, but accepted it as an action series with a medical background, so finally getting something like this was surprising. And not just ssurprising about it happening, but about the operation being engaging in how it show actual treatment and how much it emotionally heavy it is for doctors as well. Please do more of this.

As for the others... It's a huge shame that Sakamoto Days is going out like this. It's a long running manga and a pillar, so I wanted Suzuki to showcase his amazing art again before going out, but it's rough to say the least. Cannon Master continues being enjoyable, but makes me wish Ur wasn't as strong as he is, Bharat is a good protagonist. I get how the dynamic of a master weaker than the disciple is relevant to the story, but maybe they could have toned things down a bit in the first chapters. Both Destroyerz and Roku were pretty funny as well, but this was a strong week!

That he can just just reject, so while the editorial definitely should just ask for other author to do it, Suzuki is also at fault for accepting it instead of doing like Shinohara.

Nue’s exorcist might be the most strangely paced and plot structured series in manga history lol. I look forward to rereading the series in its entirety to see if it’s just a weekly reader thing, but Yagyo showing up out of nowhere in the middle of a different battle with a Hyo during the middle of the chapter is just so odd lol.

It’s also very odd that Suzuki (who is really good at creating unique and intimidating characters) created such a lame final villain in Slur. Like i get Slur is going to kill Nagumo (or think he does) and then Sakamoto fights Slur-gumo only for Sakamoto to win and have Nagumo survive so Slurs personality kind of folds in itself, but it’s just so disappointing. Even Slur’s fighting style is kind of bland; he should have been someone who fights like Sakamoto. I mean really someone like Takamura should have been the final villain (series started to slide with his death).

Under Doctor chapter was great, it's what people have been "wanting" for all this time and it delivered, so i hope to see people actually praising it lol The manga is slowly finding its own foot and i have the feeling it will eventually become consistent in the ToC if it continues like this.

Sad to see Kinato much probably going out next round, this chapter definitely feels like rushing but also at the same time doesn't really feels like "finale" worthy, so who knows, maybe some miracle can happen and only Sakamoto ending? But not holding my breath because all the circunstances say that is getting axed and it's a shame really, a manga with such a potential and that even sold pretty decently but in the end it just feels like it never stood a chance with how Saito & cia has treated it.

Nue chapter was amazing, you just can feel Kawae is thirsty after all these non stop serious battle chapters, when i was checking the chapters on Friday and i turned the page and that Yagyo page with the 3 girls came i was like WOW!, it was almost like a jumpscare, sooo unnexpected

Agreed about Under Doctor; I’d just like to see how Tanimoto crafts longer arcs. I’ve never been a fan of an episodic “case of the week” type series.
