#5. Don't post news about series from other magazine or publishers in the WSJ thread, post in the series own thread, but it's fine if you're mentioning other series or magazine to express a opinion or reflection about Shonen Jump.
#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

The character designs are fine to me, it’s just so detailed that it feels more Senin than Shonen. It’s their writing that really needs to be focused on.

Until now? It has 14 chapters and wasn't eligible for cancellation yet.

Ur is fine the way he is being used right now. Half of Bharat's character is him feeling inadequate to be the tutor/master to a superpower kid who looks up to him. If he didn't exist or was changed dramatically within the narrative or just didn't exist then that would alter what makes Bharat as the (current) lead more enticing. Design-wise, sure, whatever. Ur is a little bit too try hard visually, especially compared to all the strong side characters introduced in the past two weeks. It'd be a real shame if that was a legitimate reason for it not clicking with people since he's not all that bad.

Every Cannon Master chapter has been better than the last for me. There hasn't been a new 2026 series that I've wanted to latch onto but the way it's going this is the one for me. IMHO it's not made a major misstep or showing a red flag that often exposes itself as a potential issue like other battle shonen titles do within their first volume. The fight this week was really, really strong. By measure, Id say it was better than the Akane-banashi chapter this week, even (but then again I have complicated feelings about who won, even if comparing the two stories, I agree).

I'm waiting for the Big Thing to happen in Hal Formula... volume ender is next issue. That and Roku's House of Oddities are looking like my top three 2026 newbies by this point now. Class 2-B: The Hero Destroyerz is kind of getting embarrassing to read; the poop jokes have been absent for weeks now but what we're getting is just really boring and feels several levels below Gintama standards. It's got to go. Drawn to the Fire is also slipping into territory where it becomes a real drag to read each week - where is the spark of magic that the one-shot and first chapter had? Nowhere to be found in the actual serialisation, at least. Those two and Kinato's Magic are likely going to be the next ones gone, though Kinato could be in time with this next batch around the corner.

Anyway, Hunter x Hunter was the best of the week again. I do think this one was a bit overlong in the middle, but more than anything the translations read clunkier than usual, which didn't help. But I also think the sheer amount of dialogue and detail building up to those final two pages makes the simplicity of the reveal all the more satisfying: like a crisp glass of water after a long night's sleep. So good to see the boys back, even if they probably won't be narratively focused on until the letter makes it back, which may be a while away. Togashi having submitted up to 423 now, and with two double issues coming up soon... dare I become too hopeful that this 10-chapter batch won't end on #41?

Also recently caught up on the Akane-banashi first season in the anime. I'm glad the Karaku Cup got more love than the previous episodes did. On balance, I think it's a good adaptation of a great manga and so far the rakugo scenes haven't been the highlight (except Akane's last one). It's much more competent in the scenes where there's downtime. A part of me is a little disappointed that it doesn't exceed the manga in the way an anime adaptation of rakugo could/should, but that's the way it is. Meanwhile, The Elusive Samurai's returning episode for season two was fucking incredible. The storyboarding and the framing of just about every shot, the vibrant colours, slick as hell animation. By contrast, it's the perfect example of a good manga getting a great anime adaptation.

You can really see the difference even compared to 2025. Last year had 4 series that were clearly successful and would last, while this year's is Someone Hertz then just 3 series from the previous round because they're not confident in anything newer than Hertz.

Yuki Kawaguchi illustration and announcement for his new one shot he describes as a "occult sci-fi coming-of-age romantic comedy" which is confusing because is different than what is described in the WSJ preview that says a "Coming-of-age horror battle" lol
