A note on this, Ch 173 shows a report that Akuto printed out with a date on it, December 18, 20XX. If the paper is printed the same day as when it's shown, then that means the tournament starts Dec 19. Counting the days that progress, then Finals occurs on Dec 28 (if I counted right). So seeing them celebrate Christmas would only be weird in the sense that it's a few days too late, but it would also make sense that they put off the celebrations until after the tournament finished.
(We also see Antonio write the date December 2[rest is cut-off] in the twins diary)
Edit: Saw someone else also count it, I think I misinterpreted "in 2 days" on one part, so it's probably more likely Dec 27 when Finals occurs.
One thing I just notice, which is another thing that makes the French team potentially even more impressive.
Ryoma's Glowing Shot and Super Sweet Spot was emphasize earlier in this chapter. Considering Konomi make it Fuji, who is directly shown how impressive his technique is even someone of Ryoga's level and take several games from Ryoga, speak and worry about that shot show how high Prince level is (Although Prince need to take several attempt to do the SSS and obviously isn't as nearly impress as Ryoga, but I highly doubt anyone consider Prince to be Ryoga level anyways so that doesn't matter much).
Also, another thing to note is Tezuka. It's actually "weird" in retrospect how much he gain if he throw away being pillar of Seigaku. If he manage to do this in the National Final, then Seigaku probably could win 3-1 before Ryoma even play. I understand the argument of how he would not being able to enjoy tennis and can't get PoP until the sequel though

I hate that next World Cup is 3 years from now instead of 2. That means Zeus (1st year HS now) will graduate, and wont be able to particpate in Tokyo WC.
I think 3rd year Zeus can potentially reach Camus/Ralph/Amadeus Level.
That will mean Ryoma and Kintarou are 1st year HS already. Instead of 3rd year MS.
Suppose this happened in the 2019 WC. And there is some kind of lockdown in late 2019 or 2020 in their universe. Then it can be 3years before the next WC.
On the 3 years vs 2 years, I'm currently theorising that it's usually played every 3 years BUT they did an exception in this world cup (which also had the MSer rule as another one time thing). Then for the next WC both rules were scrapped.

I just realize WoK still doesn't have any confirmation whatsoever to master Beast aura even now lmao.
Meanwhile, Ryoma who was directly highly doubt by many to be able use PoP back the beginning, was shown to be able to use it whenever all along.
And spin drive is Konomi way of shutting up anyone who think these two brothers isn't a level above the rest I feel.
Volk and Byoudonin isn't 16 times or 256 times or 256*16 times or 256*16*16 times above Echizen brothers before this match. Since it's the last match Konomi just give middle finger to scaling entirely.
Not only they got no confirmation but it was confirmed they didn't get it. They were selected to the team but they rejected their spots to keep training to achieve Beast Synchro (and I guess their spots went to Kirihara and... Ryoma, so overall it was great for Japan). Konomi said he wants to draw this so we might get to see this in the future (in a format like the pair puris or the next captain stories).
Tbf we now know that Kintarou is the only player with perfect TnK control. IIRC Ryoma said he lost to Tokugawa because of that? so that one point has an asterisk lol
Volk and Byoudouin can probably match to the brothers... if they don't get consumed. Volk can tornado or time loop the siblings and Byoudouin somehow managed to stay at his level. Same applies to Medanore and Tokugawa I guess. But yes Ryoma ends the series amongst the strongest.
Sort of. Mangakas do change their mind a lot. The MSers were always going to be in the NT, but Konomi changed his mind as to how it'd go because HE liked the HSers. So he went from having a single 1st string with mostly MSers, to having 2 teams, to having one huge team.
The one change he did because of fan demand was probably Ryoma going back to Japan, and he actually called this a mistake that made him rework the story. Maybe the Echizens were supposed to be the final bosses or something like that.
Ah, also, isn't the "Ryoga is now working as a coach. He tells his students that he'll play a serious match against them once they become stronger." is actually a bit cruel? He never lost his ability to devour another players. He basically is telling bunch of kids he will end their tennis career once they are stronger if they don't have the motivation to continue like Ralph

I mean... I would consider Spain team in the final overall stronger than Germany team, and I'm pretty sure Japan team in the final can also fight Japan team in semi final pretty evenly too. That is even with Oni/Byoudonin leading the semi final team.
I skipped it because the translation got super long but the little kids ask Ryoga to play with them (like Ryoma used to do). I reckon he's just being nice to them rather thsn threatening the kids lol.
With Spain having Ryoga, Romeo the Mser with the most accolades in Europe, the no.1 pair, and the "strongest shield and spear" in a single player, it's hard not to see them as at least as strong as Germany.
I don't think we'll get PoT 3. Konomi has health struggles and has already given us over 900 chapters and several fanbooks. He's also like one of the richest people in Japan, he's just doing this for the love of the game.
Gotta leave some things to mystery as well.
A final fanbook and One shot stories though? I can totally see it.

I like that the series ended with 3 of the 4 main "bosses" Ryoma had to go through in PoT. Only missing Yukimura who at least got a speech bubble.
If I were to guess the final lineup it'd be something like:
It just says he got engulfed in a Light of Hope. It may be a unique TnK you get from being on a pinch against this new Ryoma. It worked very briefly tho.

Would not Tezuka and Atobe be S1 going by Atobe's future vision? Since they're both the future captain and would be naturally placed last, so I see Ryoma being S2 and Akutsu at S3.

Bertie is probably ok in singles? He's the one that say Tezuka and Romeo are on par with each other as the strongest MS in this tournament so he's probably weaker than them
Bertie was mentioned to be "one of the most annoying players to play against in the circuit". I think it's noteworthy that it's specifically him rather than having this statement for the Pro Doubles as a whole, so I reckon he does play singles as a Pro, too.
That said I think it was also mentioned that he was pretty selfless and never cared about reaching the top on his own?
I'd keep him playing doubles, anyway. You got a star doubles player, might as well use him there.
We don't know how much players will grow, what unkown players will pop up, what players might move to Germany like Tezuka did, etc. It's stated that they are the best so it doesn't really matter if the current MSers appear to be a bit underwhelming.

Probably Siegfried? Tezuka pushed him to evolve so much. I do think Frankensteiner is pretty underrated, though. The accuracy he showed against Tokugawa/Yukimura was like the vest we've seen.
Ryoma only played the bottom ranked HSers in USA, right? It's the equivalent of him beating Hakamada. It's not like he wouldn't beat the Japanese MSers too, anyway.
