For me the Fullbringers as a group and individually left a lot to be desired, especially given how strong (character wise) all the other antagonist groups had been up to that point. They are a huge stepdown as a group from the likes of the Goeti 13, the Arrancars, and the Vizards. So you go from antagonists that the fanbase really liked loved and could get behind ,to an antagonist group that many could have cared less about.

The arc itself felt a bit disjointed from everything else we had gotten previously as well. It doesn't help that it came on the back of the finale with Aizen either. It was never going to be as well received as what had come just before it. So, I guess the Fullbring arc was doomed to be seen as subpar coming off the back of Aizen.
the Fullbringers arc is a worldbuilding arc more than anything so is normal that people don't like it. It only fit the series when you know everything behind the it (in the novels) and why it was important.

Going back to the Kagurabachi thing, I droped in the second vol so I cant talk more than that but the thing that I find bad about Chihiro was that he lacks the ability to transmit his hate and vengance when I was reading it and obviously that make it really boring as a protagonist and the rest of the characters doesn't cover for it. the character can had a big personality (Guts in Berserk) or a really bland one (Goblin Slayer) but they need to show that the hate and vengance in every action they do (mostly) to demostrate it or they just end up looking as something do with AI.

Im not really a Nue fan by any means but I think I think it’s fairly obvious Nue is going to be huge hit with the anime. The artwork lends itself well to being animated as long as they don’t fuck up the animation like Blue Lock, OPM or Sakamoto. If the anime is done right I legitimately believe it could hit JJK levels; I genuinely believe it could even hit KnY levels in Japan.
Those are really lofty expectations lol. Even doing Sakamoto numbers after an anime adaptation would be really good and make it a pillar of the magazine.

I think a battle harem has an upper limit to popularity but that limit is still high enough to be considered a big hit. But I def think it automatically stops it from becoming some kind of national hit

You guys created hype around Undead Unluck and the anime wasn't successful.

So, you should tone down the hype around Nue, since the manga doesn't sell much.

No current battle shonen will come close to JJK or KnY.
Most current Jump manga try to use slice-of-life as the sole means of character development, and end up following the same path, leaving a feeling of "I've seen this before." Knights of the Year and Joker didn't need that and were successful.

But Jujutsu Kaisen and Kimetsu no Yaiba were full of these "slice of life" moments. There were chapters like the one in which Yuta and Todo become "brothers" and some of the chapters of Kimetsu no Yaiba like their training arcs.

But none of them spend more than 50 chapters just on that. Yozakura, for example, took more than 50 chapters to introduce the main plot. It would have been much more successful if it hadn't taken so long.

An interesting thing about the Chojo OP is that it's being done by what looks like an insanely popular idol group
Their tweet about it has over 30k likes so that could give the series some momentum

Also the anime looks amazing, will be seated day 1

Well, it really goes with which manga. Frieren does countless episodic chapters in which they do lots of non-battle stuff and it is a really big hit.

Frieren is a fantasy, and the characters are constantly changing settings; the series doesn't repeat the same school settings as if it were something innovative.

I'm sure nue will get a pretty decent physical sales boost with it's anime but saying that it could be a jjk/demon slayer type of success is crazy lmao I don't even expect bachi or ichi to do those types of numbers with anime.

Was there a lot of hype building up for kny and jjk after their anime was announced? Feels like kagurabachi is getting gassed up harder than them and it'll still be a real uphill battle to hit 50 mil circulation lifetime after the anime airs.

For JJK? yeah, definitely, specially because it started airing exactly 1 year after Demon Slayer 1st season ended and all the craze was going on, and the series was already doing pretty well anyway, so there was this "awareness" vibe that JJK would kinda of carry that DS hype going on, still of course predicting it would also outsel One Piece was kind of pushing.

With DS? Nah, it was popular of course but it hasn't made any waves so far at the time, even after knowing it was ufotable predicting a boost like Bleach was already considered "pushing it", DS phenomenon was truly something no one could ever predict since DS was pretty much a regular popular series on Jump.

Not even SpyxFamily got to 50 million copies in circulation.

Not a fair comparison, SxF has only 17 volumes so far and is already at 42 million, thats basically a average of 2.5 million copies per volume, technically if it was a weekly series it would have over 30 volumes and likely have reached 100 million already

I don't think it would have reached that, but my main point is that people think that any manga that is popular and gets a good adaptation will reach 50 million copies or above in circulation, which hardly ever happens.

My basis for it is the art is great and I think them taking this long to announce a date means they’re taking their time with it. I think Jump is well aware how much of a cult hit Nue is and they have the same idea. I think SD was rushed out and we saw the lackluster results. Will it do big numbers like that? No probably not, but I think the ingredients are all there especially because of how strong a MC Gakuro is. I think he can be a Tanjuro for Japanese youth.

Yeah, but SxF is not the example to use since it only didn't reached that because the volume releases are super slow even for a monthly manga :grin

The series itself is a major hit well above the 50 million copies level.

I think it only depends on the studio/staff, if the studio/staff is good/great and can deliver a pretty good anime adaptation Nue has all the ingredients to go big viral in Japan, btw, it already did by chapter 1 with Zenno briefs going viral on social media, while the west was "what a awful 1st chapter", Japan was "Wow, what a crazy first chapter, loved it" lmao! Not saying its going to beat Kagurabachi or whatever but a good hit is totally viable with good production value.

KaguraBachi will do well in Japan it’s just impossible for it to do jjk/demon slayer numbers. Maybe it’ll get an anime boost similar to Black Clover who knows?
Also KGB is getting gassed up a lot because there’s a lot of excitement towards it’s anime look at all the likes the teaser trailer got on all social media sites plus the reactions towards ep 1 are extremely positive.

Damn, you guys are going really modest with the predictions if you expect "maybe" a Black Clover boost level for Kagurabachi :grin
