Terasaka getting 3 axes are painful
As much as I like Terasaka, I can't feel too bad for him. Beast Children just wasn't good. GGG was amazing, but the combination of being a niche sport and the pacing issues at the beginning meant it just couldn't get enough eyes on it. Hal Formula perplexes me. He clearly learned some lessons from GGG, but he once again went with a relatively niche sport, this time with an adult MC that readers might not relate to alongside action and concepts that just don't seem to translate well to manga pages. I think he simply returned too quickly, his next work needed more time in the oven.

Shinobigoto reaching chapter 100 and 2nd anniversary despite being one of the Jump action series with less buzz I've ever seen. I'm glad for Yodaka
The story has good action, good cast, a funny protagonist, great choreography

i mean it does everything better than Sakamoto Days lately, idk how it’s still not popular

Now you understand how Kaedegami fans felt about Otr. lol
Otr>>Kaedegami. Kaedegami had a good premise but failed to meet any of that promise or the fan's expectations and the characters were pretty forgettable as well. Combine that with a world that felt dead and hollow and that is how you get cancelled 17 chapters.
Otr had a much richer world and definitely had a much stronger cast of characters. A better battle system too., with better fight choreography.

Not really a good choice of comparison if you are asking me.

Good art but the action and choreography could be better. The cast is probably its weakest selling point and the reason it isn't as popular. The main plot was only revealed in the last handful of chapters (if that is actually it at all) which means with such a lackluster cast of characters many people who tried reading had little to nothing to latch onto. I would dare say it's the opposite with Sakamoto Days, the characters are so well done that the lack of an overarching plot early on is mitigated because people had so much fun with the characters. Then when SD start to reveal the villain group (and their characters are also well done) it just made the series that much more popular and enjoyable.

The point was complaining about something that sells more being ranked below something that sells less. But Kaedegami was even axed before its volume release meaning sales would be even higher over Otr if it was on-going and with digital Animal Signal may even be tied with Hal, so Kaedegami fans have more to complain than Hal's.

Anyway, Otr was a manga about nothing, barely any care about themes or character writing, with generic battles and confusing art, while Kaedegami had things to say and characters with some actual nuance. Shame Saito didn't allow it to live for a few more weeks and instead gave Otr an undeserved extension considering it was even worse than Red Hood, at least that had some interesting aspects.

Congrats Nue's Exorcist fans. Let's see the staff and studio and if that elusive tweet proves to be a foretelling another way that Nue fans can be annoyed at Saito.

Akane-banashi continues to be a league ahead of the rest of the magazine. What an amazing performance by Issho. Delicious, delicious panelling. You can feel the weight of his stage presence thanks to the detail of the artwork as well. Stupid good. Fitting that it's doing another consecutive 1st place run in the magazine.

People were being ridiculous/annoying/overdramatic/unfunny/insert negative adjective here about the Sakamoto Days' cliffhanger last week, which was obviously not going to be what it was set up for, and obviously played for laughs - even better, the reveal fuels Sakamoto to have his last minute power boost to wrap up this final fight in a way that just feels so on point for the series. I've not been a big fan of this final arc, though (artwork aside) I do think this final fight has been a fun brawl with the expanded cast - having this reveal be the thing that speeds it up to the finish line is perfect, actually.

Kumugi reaches a milestone on chapter 100 of Ichi the Witch, which only makes me think that this series is going for 300/400 chapters and that sounds just right. TOC-wise, it's a shame that Cannon Master and Hal Formula hit rock bottom a week after I'd put both of them in my top 5. Those were two really solid, competent, fulfilling chapters that kind of make me sad to see them likely go this upcoming round. Meanwhile, Under Doctor (good chapter!) is in the clear thanks to its colour page and Animal Signal (not that good) will have enough good grace this round despite shoddy sales. My ideal scenario would be that Class 2-B: The Hero Destroyerz leaves the magazine (alongside Sakamoto Days) and that's it for now. I'm still not loving what Sorachi is doing now, just all feels too late and removed from the initial failed premise. If I get Bleach back I won't care anyways, lol.

I also love when Roku gets 6th place in the TOC (it's most common placement, now for the 7th time).

Oh, also read Cursed Case, last week's Golden Future Cup one-shot. It was really boring.

Top 5 of Issue #45:
1. Akane-banashi
2. Ichi the Witch
3. Sakamoto Days
4. Hal Formula
5. Cannon Master
Also top 5 worthy:
6. WITCH WATCH
7. Roku's House of Oddities
8. Under Doctor
9. The Ura Files
10. Me & Roboco
11. Graykeith: Translator Daemonica

Also good:
12. Kagurabachi
13. Someone Hertz
14. Shinobi Undercover

It's fineeeeee:
15. Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi
16. Animal Signal

It's (still) a no for me:
17. Nue's Exorcist
18. Class 2-B: The Hero Destroyerz

Gintama bounced off a lot from comedy to action arcs, so I have the impression this RPG adventure stuff would always happen eventually. But maybe you're right that the poor reception is why we went from "slowly going through the cave until they reach the world" to them just getting teleported instantly to a village and meeting a hero. I think I'm in the minority that liked the initial stuff better, the hero being straight up fully evil like this (he literally tried to kill a little girl and her dog) is a bit boring.

You mean November batch right? I could one or two gfc winners debuting finally. I just have no idea who among the three would.

We went from having 0 covers in 2025 to having 2 covers and a anime adaptation in 2026, feels good as a Nue fan right now...:hee
Now nue fans are happy now maybe we can direct into different discussions now since the anime is for sure announced.

Personally bet is that Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi kun and Ichi the Witch will have anime announced next year alongside shinobi undercover and possibly himaten. Any more than those four will surprise me greatly.

Man the color pages are great, but am impressed with Bachoism's color page. Kuroko knows how to make it work, its cool.

Golden Future Cup 2026 2nd wave of one shots ending on issue #50!

Issue #47: The Young Witch and the Teacher by Isshin Mineuchi

"Tamane, who aspires to be a witch, has a super sadistic tutor! A 47-page action one-shot with color page featuring a witch tutor's arrogant and educational guidance!!"

Issue #48: Inugami and Suzune by Wani

"Is it a god or a demon that is residing within the bell my grandmother left behind?! A 47-page one-shot suspense drama about a Inugami!!!"

Issue #49: Superpower Battle Fantasy Club by Tatara Kyo

"Young Hatori loves shonen battle manga too much! A 47-page one-shot school battle comedy in search of the romance of shonen manga!!

Issue #50: Shishikabane by Maki Gyujirou

"What did Shishi, the young hunter, see in the mountains?? A 47-page life-or-death hunting horror action one-shot!!"

Well, this is interesting.

Alright, first things first: Isshin Mineuchi has made several one-shots in the past, but I cannot be sure. What I can be sure of is that I found one of his prio one-shots, which was from a Jump Giga issue from 2024 titled "Somato"

As for Wani, all I managed to find was a one-shot in Jump Giga back in the year 2024 dubbed "Gekijo Tenshi", which was pretty much a comedy to be honest, so seeing something like a suspense drama from him is a surprise, to say the least:

Okay, so I guess I got it wrong twice now with an author from Jump Giga Spring 2026, now that Tatara Kyo is participating. Man, the editors must really like the first one-shot of Super Powered Battle Fantasy Club. I admit, Shinuki, although you have your reservations about Kyo, I'm curious to see if he made any significant changes to his newly adapted one-shot.

As for Maki Gyujirou, he is a genuine newcomer in that he's only published one work that earned him an award last year. Yes, he debuted LAST YEAR. This was the one-shot he won with:

That is all I could find for these authors. Personally, I'm kinda intrigued by Wani, just because he went from comedy to a suspense one-shot for the competition, and that got me interested.

Isshin Mineuchi is one I'm very curious to see, mostly because I think he has potential to be a worthy competitor for Jou Tanakura in terms of art style and action scenes.

Tatara Kyo is one I just don't know what is going to come out of; that is both interesting and kinda worrying, since he went with a previous work instead of a new one. Guess he must be confident with readapting the one shot i guess.

For Maki Gyjirou i genuiely have no idea what to anticipated, So that is going to be interesting to see what happens.

Considering how rough the recent chapters have been, I wouldn't be surprised to see the series straight up end soon, or in the best case, move to Jump+. But straight up, the last 2 pages of chapter 22 have blatantly unfinished art, I feel bad for Sorachi.

Agree with mostly everything you're saying but Animal Signal's digital sales are awful and likely worse than Hal's (which aren't good either).

I actually agree, the toilet humour was shit but I kind of crave for the way it was initially being set up, before or after the setting shift. This feels like an arc that would have happened maybe 50 chapters in by how it develops on the premise (and series title), but how it’s played out here feels more like an abandoning of its initial premise to a notable degree, which almost feels worse coming from a veteran.

It’s doubly painful seeing him struggle with artwork week-to-week + his instincts just not clicking with the audience/feeling like this was worth his time.

Yeah, this one shot ain't winning this gfc. I feel bad for Oku Takuo, but I just hope he realises the flaws he has and really work on them. He has potential its just that this was a good presentation if his craft I think. Feel free to disagree or agree Samu. You tend to have sound opinions on these things.

Now am quite curious to see if anyone if the other authors is going to beat Dog eat Dog world one shot in terms of popularity but we shall see. As for now its likely the winner of the batch, which I find a bit amusing given that Signal All Red was also the second one shot in their competition.

....Man, we are not seeing Signal All Red at all these next few years are we? I feel like we are likely to see Tabigoro debut before them! I say this cause of the amount of romantic stuff currently in jump. I mean the Ura Files is the largest one. So unless Witch Watch ends sometime next year then we could end up not seeing this be made for a while. Same for Shirokuma Shirasaki, although I have my doubts its gonna be a romantic type of series they debut.
