The point was complaining about something that sells more being ranked below something that sells less. But Kaedegami was even axed before its volume release meaning sales would be even higher over Otr if it was on-going and with digital Animal Signal may even be tied with Hal, so Kaedegami fans have more to complain than Hal's.

Anyway, Otr was a manga about nothing, barely any care about themes or character writing, with generic battles and confusing art, while Kaedegami had things to say and characters with some actual nuance. Shame Saito didn't allow it to live for a few more weeks and instead gave Otr an undeserved extension considering it was even worse than Red Hood, at least that had some interesting aspects.
It's interesting to me that we have completely different views on these 2 series. I do not remember Keadegami having "things" to say (maybe you can elaborate on this?) and the only characters anyone remembers from that series are the 2 protagonists. I would argue Otr was more deserving of an extension than Keadegami. The axe at chapter 17 speaks volumes to this in all honesty. The 2 MC's were the best part of Keadegami but they hit their peak in the early chapters and no one cared about them or the series plot from there on. That is what I rememeber from the discussion here on the forum and witnessing what happened to it in real time.
This is not me saying that Keadegami did not have any themes, I am saying they introduced a lot (maybe too many) and fumbled them by not being able to realize or execute them. Otr has themes and actually excecuted them where in Keadegami the themes are introduced but go absolutely nowhere
Otr Themes you may have missed - Hope in a hopeless world, life vs. death (living vs the glorification of death), family (Otr's promise to and bond with his sister), fire vs. ice (warmth and hope vs, death and isolation), and unity vs. division, just to name a few.
The biggest fumbled theme in Keadegami is one they should have been able to lock down due to the 2 MC's and that is coexistence. This has to be the biggest fumble of the series given we have a human and Keadegami protagonist group, these 2 should have been a shining example of coexistence for the world but by chapter 17 the author has done nothing to show the rest of the world what is possible. The solution was literally built into the premise but never capitalized on, the paring was a counterargument to the prejudice that already existed in their world.

Otr was better than Kaedegai, so it deserved to stay in the magazine while the other got obliterated with 17 chapters

Hal is better than Animal Signal so it doesn't deserve to be on last place while Animal Signal is 10th :super:super

Talking about the Hero Destroyerz thing, it may be real that he was "forced" into bigger battles considering:

- Nishi just said the surveys weren't as strong as she hoped and she looked into Bleach to know how to incorporate battles/action into the story.

- Sakamoto Days probably got similar feedback, right? The manga rebooted itself from a comedy with battle scenes into a battle manga with comedy scenes. Lu also got replaced because she was probably not that popular with readers and the bigger focus on the Order has to be part of the changes based on reader feedback.

Wonder what other changes were made to the current line-up based on surveys/feedback.

I mean a pretty obvious case is with Shinobi and Kiyoshi imo. Both basically abandoned their SoL chapters for the better part of a year, and focused all in on action, as those are what got the good survey votes. I at least know from Kiyoshi, his friendship list goal was basically dropped, as chapter 10 (the bowling chapter), is the lowest it ranked, and from then on, usui pretty much only focused on action. Only recently have those sorts of chapters returned for both series, and even then, that may be because they've lasted so long now, and they know they're at little risk of getting cut.
I really want to watch how Roku's recent "serious" chapters rank, as if they're low, we might stick to mostly unserialized comedy for a while. Roku feels like a Witch Watch replacement to me, so I wouldn't be surprised if the action/"serious" stuff remains sparse (and low ranked).
Also yeah Under Doctor is a pretty blatant case of a guy trying to figure out how to stick, even ignoring the pivot away from action. Do you remember that photography guy he introduced recently? I feel like he's done nothing since he was added to the main cast lol. Shuli and Chiwako at least get screentime here and there, but this dude was introduced in chapter 18 (basically half of what is currently out), and is kept out all of these new chapters.

When would they be ranked?

That guy gives strong Hitman Reborn Initial Cast vibes. He'll go the way of Dr. Shamal. People probably didn't like him much.

Yeah he sucks, but I’m surprised he was ditched so quickly. Like we had an intro arc (2 chapters) where he “joined” the main crew, I think he appeared in 1 or 2 later chapters, but he’s been gone for so long now. It’s so blatant.

I’m referring to the stuff from chapter 20-22 (the exorcist guys appearing). Considering last week’s chapter was 24, it’ll defo take a while. Around chapter 28-30 I guess?
But the battle one was already ranked and it ranked well.

Still think next September batch should be all of the previous 3 (plus this year) GFC winners
Probably not, if anything, they might do one GFC winner for every couple batches, that way if one of them struggles & gets an early axe, another is there to pick up the slack in another attempt to break the curse as long as possible.

Seems to already hit it's ceiling this early.

Feels a bit "polluted" visually to me, like, too many stuff going on specially in the background lol
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Hiroyuki(shaman king) is doing another collab with the west. Don't know how that panned out for ultimo

Ultimo flopped, kinda hart to be honest, it did sell at least 30k/40k on Oricon but we're talking about 2010, since it would be pretty embarrassing to axe a collab with Stan Lee they moved from JumpSQ to the former JumpSQ.19 spinoff magazine, basically the GIGA of that time,

This one isn't a manga bound to a magazine, it's a direct to tanko release and exclusive to the west so i guess it will be just fine.

This perfectly shows why a lot of people nowadays switch to digital

"I’m really glad I switched to ebooks now 🙏 Back when I was 15, I’d always spend over 10,000 yen a month on them without fail, and if I couldn’t hold back after watching anime and ended up buying more, I’d set a stupid limit of 20,000 yen max—kept up that nonsense for 15 years until my room was creaking and on the verge of collapse, so I reluctantly made the switch to digital—but now it’s cheap, I can read anywhere, and it’s the best 🙏"

Digital is def very convenient. For books, I still actually prefer the physical copy but storage is just such a pain especially when you move so I've always been limited in what I buy. For other stuff though, I switched to buying video games digitally almost a decade ago now
