Konomi still have options.

He vaguely hinted that he might give us some spinoff anime or ova on what Ryoma did in between end of POT and Start of NPOT.

Though, Anime implied he played in US Open and beat Hewitt. But didn't became champion. It is considered non - canon.

Byodouin vs Ryoma was foreshadowed ten years ago and we never got to see the match, but by beating Ryoga and having his final powerup might be Konomi’s way of showing that Ryoma has surpassed Byodouin without directly facing him. Nonetheless, Ryoma vs Byodouin or any of the g5 would have been great, but Ryoga is already beyond g5 level so this is the closest thing we’ll get.
It won't happen now. The plot seems going forward if ever.

We saw the Tokyo WC 3 years from now is Japan VS Germany. And based on their positioning

Singles: Ryoma, Akutsu, and Atobe

Doubles: Sanada/Fuji and ???/???

We don't know who is the other pair. Maybe Kin/Yuki based on strength. But they could have been used in the Semis and too tired. It can just be Yagyuu/Niouu so we have weaker players losing to Germany.

-------
MY PREDICTION

S3: Atobe lose against Tezuka (Germany Win)

D2: Sanada/Fuji win against Frankensteiner/Siegfried (Japan Win)

S2: Akustu win against ??? (Japan Win)

D1: Yagyuu/Niouu lose against Bertie/??? (Germany Win)

S1: Ryoma win against Germany Future Secret weapon Ace (Japan Win)

(Or you can make Akutsu lose and give a stronger pair for Japan in D1 to win against Bertie)

Or Bertie can play S2 himself. Lol. Idk how they will rumble.

Well, we don't know how Germany will order their players except for Atobe will play against Tezuka based on both players Future insight and POV.

I hope your ??/?? are Toyama and Yukimura. I really hope they’re on the same level as teams like Germany, where every player is strong enough to play multiple matches in a row, rather than having a long roster where, even if the players take turns competing, some of them never get to play a match.

A Tezuka vs. Atobe rematch? They’ve already played a full singles match against each other, and they’ve even played doubles against each other. I’d much rather see Tezuka face off against Fuji or Ryoma.

Nah. It is already confirmed Tezuka VS Atobe again in our Future POV of Atobe's insight.

So, Ryoma should and would probably play against a new character. A new Germany Star that might be stronger than Tezuka.

Tezuka VS Fuji. Tezuka is always portrayed as stronger and better.

This new German star would have to be around Ryoma’s age at the youngest, so he’d be entering high school in three years. It’s a bit disappointing that someone supposedly stronger than Tezuka hasn’t even been introduced yet, unless he’s a transfer student or there’s a good explanation for his absence.

We already had Ryoga at the Finals, and a lot of us wanted to see more of Ryoma’s mysterious older brother. Introducing yet another insanely strong new character just for us to expect Ryoma to beat him anyway feels kinda boring.

Fuji’s entire development in New Prince of Tennis has been building toward facing Tezuka again and finally surpassing him. They also have an unfinished match, and both have expressed a desire to face each other in an official match during the main tournament. If Konomi managed to write a match where Fuji came close to beating Ryoma, a Fuji vs. Tezuka match can’t be that far-fetched.

And honestly, Tezuka vs. Atobe or Ryoma vs. pretty much anyone is predictable anyway. Atobe’s vision doesn’t guarantee anything; it wouldn’t be the first time Konomi contradicted his own setup.

It’s really just personal preference, not about who’s stronger or how predictable a match is. I’d rather see the established characters get more development and meaningful matches than introduce another overpowered character just for Ryoma to beat. Actually, now that I think about it, Ryoma vs. Tezuka would be a great matchup, especially since we already know Tezuka is heading toward becoming a pro with a Grand Slam title.

Well yeah. At this point, all of us will have preferences.

Tbh, even in POT, I am kinda got bored with Ryoma always winning. Lol. The only times he lost were against Tezuka and Kiko both in Practice Matches.

And ofc, Ryoma will beat Tezuka if ever they will play an official match. Ryoma never lose an official match.

And btw, I don't think Konomi will continue the story further anyway. Lmao.
