#5. Don't post news about series from other magazine or publishers in the WSJ thread, post in the series own thread, but it's fine if you're mentioning other series or magazine to express a opinion or reflection about Shonen Jump.
#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

i don't think that

i think the point of huge success of DS is a mix of the anime + manga, the art was very compelling, cute characters, nice designs, a fun and good story. I mean, I don't remember a manga that didn't fall after the anime ended besides TR and KNY, and not only that but it selling almost 2 times everytime a new volume drop, i don't think is just the anime that did this.

but i also don't think that this translates to being the best manga of all time

Let's be real, Boruto is literally just Naruto with a different name. His dad is called Uzumaki Naruto, and the title is Boruto...Like, seriously, how much more obvious can you get? It even has characters like Sasuke, Hinata, Sakura, and all the others. I genuinely don't understand how nobody has noticed these blatant similarities, especially when the power system is basically 100% copied too.

Perfect year for comedy. We need so much, I get cracked up to tears week after week. Such a mood lifter if a magazine lineup.

Perfect year for comedy. We need so much, I get cracked up to tears week after week. Such a mood lifter if a magazine lineup.

I agree. I mean I remember when I started back in 2020 and going through the Nakano era and how much I hated its comedies. The only comedies I liked were hybrids and only one gag manga and that was it in Witch Watch and Chojo. Since Saito the comedies have gotten better and while some are done by successful veteran artists who I wouldn’t expect return, I was extremely happy because I knew we were in good hands. But even before that like last year with Nice Prison, say what you will about how bad it is, because yes it is. At least it actually made the effort to try to make me laugh and got a few from me. But it did enough to not make me rage quit where I could probably give it a proper critique to improve on than say more harsh words that would put me in the wrong.

 

[Discomusic]

1. Roku's House of Oddities: I liked this chapter more than the previous one, but I think it was on me because back then I didn't understand why Roku behaved that way at the end. Thanks to his Powerpoint presentation, I understand now, but please Altra don't enter a boy's room in that way, it can be dangerous.
2. Sakamoto Days: And we finally reached the climax, for this fight and for the whole series. Judging this final battle in its completeness, I give it a pass: good idea the throwback at the original themes of the series, and good action for the Sakamoto Days standard. I also appreciated that it was stretched out a little, it is the final battle so it can't last only two chapters.
3. Akane-banashi: I don't like this Akane, it's like she threw away all the character development she reached so far and I really hope it's "just a phase". On the positive side, I like this new obstacle brought in by the harshness of the real world, and of course I can't downvote a chapter with Karashi in it.
4. Under Doctor: Not as strong as the last chapter, where hell was truly unleashed, but still a good chapter that ends the first story relevant arc. We are teased to the real enemy organization, something that shows that the series is not going anywhere soon.
5. RuriDragon: What I liked the most in this chapter is the fact that the Slice of Life nature of the series was brought back at least for the time of a phone chat. And big news...the missing kid showed up when Ruri wasn't there! I always thought that he would be plot relevant at some point.
6. One Piece: Finally a good moment for Sanji, probably the closure for his character (but this is far from the final arc). I didn't enjoy a fight of his since... Enies Lobby probably. The miracle of when Oda focuses on a battle at a time instead of continuous context switching.
7. Witch Watch: The first part with all the explanations was lenghty, but the second part more than made up for it. Great idea to have all those filler spells prove useful for the final battle, se we don't feel like it was a waste of time reading about them. But it also means that it is more unlikely that we can have new comedy chapters after this battle, because they served their purpose now.
8. Shinobi Undercover: We all knew that Yodaka was not in danger, but there were still twists in this chapter, simply somewhere else. It was a good plot progression chapter and I am good with plot proceding chapters.
9. Hal Formula: This chapter was slightly different from the previous one, in the sense that against the previous opponent he didn't break a sweat, this time he felt more in trouble. But alas, even this new enemy is already defeated unless a twist is coming; it still works because it's cool, but the risk is of getting bored fast.
10. Ichi the Witch: The chapter was cool, but I had the feeling it was just aura farming for the sake of aura farming, just a roundabout way to give Desscaras more power, and a reason to move to the next plot element, that is Ichi trying to stop her.
11. Class 2-B: Heavy Destroyerz: Very quickly we are moved into the next arc, dominated by a character who I forgot but luckily Sorachi didn't, as he can be pretty interesting to follow. The beginning has worried me, I hope it doesn't turn into a "it was all a videogame" situation.
12. Graykeith: Translation Daemonica: Glad to know that Undead is doing fine and published a 2000+ manga series, maybe in collaboration with Unknown. But please girl protagonist, don't go that route. Everyone some manga character tried it, it ended in tragedy.
13. Nue's Exorcist: Someone read that character poll and figured it's time to give the fans what they want. The return was in grand style, with a rare chapter without Gakuro or Nue so that Shiroha could have her due focus.
14. Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi: The new opponent was supposed to seem menacious but he is already nerfed. The chapter wasn't particularly inspired, just another battle chapter.
15. Someone Hertz: Yet another awkward date, but with a twist: the focus is more on a side character and the story is about exploring her past. And radio shows are the most bonding forces of nature in this universe. "What is the World's most difficult cooking process?" "Datenseki stew".
16. Kagurabachi: The main news of the chapter is that the protagonist is back in some form, with such an aura that, as one Mangaplus commented pointed out, he "named himself". The rest is just waiting for the inevitable tragedy that will put this flashback to rest.
17. The Ura Files: A chapter where nothing happens, spending two thirds of it on girly talk is surely a choice. But I liked the Ashita no Joe reference, it honors the authors to pay the hommage.
18. Me and Roboco: My rebellious phase was something like this. The worst thing I have ever did is going to a school assembly in hiding when my parents wanted me to stay at home and recover some sleep. What? Oh, right, the chapter...not a good one.
19. Animal Signal: No girls in sight, two boys fighting to appeal their master, gotta please all kinds of audience.
20. Cannon Master: The series is ending and the author was unprepared, so they fill the pages with only action and no dialogue without any plot progression. It's a disappointing lack of effort, so I have to put it last place because even the series I don't like at least are trying. The translation team will be happy though.

i wish we get more UNDER DOCTOR and Hal Formula and less exorcist type of manga

me being kind tired of exorcists mangas doesn't mean i will hate every new exorcist manga that are published.

I'm just tired of it, but i still can enjoy some of them when they are good, like kiyoshi
