After going through numerous trials and tribulations, Gon finally comes face to face with his father. During their conversation, Ging shares his adventures and recounts how he fell in love with Gon's mother. Ging presents an item to Gon and asks him to follow in his footsteps to find his mother. He also adds that she is eagerly waiting for Gon's arrival.
