It does not require a further training arc, and most likely will not happen, for the sheer fact that the manga has to conclude at some point. Could easily see Sanjji and Zoro, barely managing to incapacitate or "defeat" their opponents right when there would be losing and maybe forcing retreat...

Think Oda, lost track of that it needs balance, and some more serious moments. Luffy can keep fooling around, but what makes the story great is also these contrasts. Against Crocodile it was a case in point, the goofiness was great and well introduced, followed by a final match up very serious...
