You're forgetting Boku to Roboco. It's also a potential success.

I checked the top average rating ranking of manga series on MyAnimeList today and... SpyxFamily is currently in 30th place, on par with Death Note. That's amazing for a series that started so recently.

You're right, Jump waiting so long to adapt a big success like Takeshi to anime is really weird and illogical. But, at the same time, it's hard to think it wouldn't have happened at some point if the manga had been able to continue normally.

From the 90s onwards, the ones I remember are: Rising Impact Mr. Fullswing Psyren I'm not sure those are all of them, maybe I'm forgetting something. There's also Rookies, but it got a live action adaptation. I don't count Takeshi because it would probably have gotten one if it hadn't been...

Because I didn't think Gotoubun would become such a huge success.

Why? Is it because of the story's progress or was it announced somewhere?

Thanks for the info! That's not a very good debut for David-kun, but at least it's higher than Jimoto. It seems the Amazon.jp ranking doesn't always reflect the total sales. I'll wait for shosekiranking and Oricon from now on.

Is the daily ranking already out for the first day of sales of the new volumes? I checked their positions in Amazon.jp sales ranking and Jimoto ga Japan is higher than David-kun, but I don't know if that really reflects their total sales.

And after that we saw Black Clover and Jujutsu Kaisen become successful shonen manga, despite being generic (what doesn't mean they're bad) and many people (at least in the internet) not believing they would survive, including me. Successes and failures can be very unpredictable sometimes in...

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2017] - Discussion and TOC Talk

It's interesting to notice that Jump will reach its 50th anniversary with a very fresh lineup. Currently, the only series left from the 2000s is Gintama, which will very probably end this year. So, if Sorachi doesn't stretch it more than expected, the magazine will complete 50 years in 2018 with...

Sometimes you say "good" and "bad" sales-wise and sometimes quality-wise, so it's hard to know what you're talking about when you use those words. For example, I don't know what you're talking about in the quoted comment. Nobody even mentioned Hero Academia, you're starting to look paranoid...

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2017] - Discussion and TOC Talk

I think you're exaggerating a bit when you say it was in its "last breaths" just before the anime. It was ranking poorly but there were always series that did worse than it. And it sold well before the anime aired (its sales weren't excellent but weren't bad either). I don't think Kuroko's...

I wonder how you are able to enjoy Shonen Jump manga at all if you have such disdain for the values they convey... :oh On another topic, I'm really happy for Kimetsu no Yaiba. At first, I thought there was no hope for the series to become a success, as its performance was disappointing in both...
