Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

You mean when X series that sell less gets placed higher than Y series that sell more? That has happened since forever in this magazine, happens every week, i'm failing to see the problem lol

You want the ToC to be literally every week just this?

That would be incredibly boring, also unrealistic since sales are just one of many factors influencing the placement order, and sales are also not exactly correlated to how many survey votes a series receives every week.

Considering the hype around it I didn’t expect it to be this low by 2026, I think the anime came out waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too late, should have been some time in 2023

The anime was a really bad adaptation. I don't think airing earlier would make any difference.

Yeah this too, more sales u would expect from a successful champion or magazine battle manga from 2010s, for jump this is pretty low

I think even with a fantastically well-made anime, sales would have stayed the same.

Sakamoto doesn't strike me as the kind of series capable of truly breaking through and becoming a phenomenon like Kimetsu or Jujutsu.

That's a good surprise I didn't expect, UxU is so underrated

Issue 35 2026 (I don't feel like doing other reviews):

1. Nue's Exorcist: What I think this chapter is trying to do is humanizing Yagyo, and I do not simply mean his nuclear BOMB of a reveal, but rather his entire behavior during the fight: his sword sryle, unlike Gakuro's more freestyling/wild one, is pure, disciplined Kendo, with all the footwork that follows. You can tell he experienced genuine training in the martial art in his life. Then, his reaction to Gakuro's sneak attack on Aka. Besides the absolutely horrific expression, it makes sure that the reader KNOWS the affection is genuine, in spite of all the dark implications behind it. But regardless, as Gakuro says, Yagyo's a complete hypocrite who can't possibly comment on family and human connections- except he can, he WAS human once! Due to whichever reason, he came to detest humanity, to the point where he calls them MONKEYS (Geto, anyone?) and transformed into a spirit leading him where he is now. How exactly? Who knows! The only people we knew could BASICALLY turn into spirits were the Fujino, but unless Yagyo's also revealed to be a Fujino, which I doubt, then there IS a general way for people to become spirits, and that opens MANY doors. The theory that he's a dark reflection of Gakuro feels more and more real.
Speaou know who I think Yagyo was? A Yajima. His hair's the EXACT same as Gakuro's in the color page, he knew of Gakuro ever since he was a child, and Gakuro was to be the heir to the whole Family. And clearly, the Yajima Family was VERY secretive, knowing of Nue WELL before the Bureau, and why would such an unassuming family be seemingly erased by Raisei's group? Because their devotion to Nue was ratted out by SOMEONE. That someone, I think is Yagyo... Ok, enough theories and back to the actual chapter.
Crimson Midnight Sun seems to have a LOT of Types. Last chapter Gakuro used Bind to create a chain, and now we see him create shields from it and even elongate the blade. It might not be spoken, but I think that, holding the powers of light, the blade is also MADE of light, and can change forms at will. It might just be an assumption, but there is clearly a LOT being revealed even without text here. Still, new powers or not, Gakuro's BADLY outmatched here. I wasn't wrong in saying that he is about as strong as when he fought Wanyudo. The only hit he managed to land was a surprise counter, and even then Yagyo just regenerated it right away (we still do not have a way to kill Level 4s besides Haruhi's Jutsu and Natsuki by the way). The only thing keeping him in the fight at this point is experience and grit. That new Soul Armor will need to be insane and QUICK if he wants to close the gap with Yagyo alone, let alone Kasha. And a new Zanbo in the mix?? I fear that Shitotsu's gonna carry this fight HARD.
I did NOT expect the first new Shikigami since chapter 87 to be summoned by Yagyo of all people, but damn that is a good design. And speaking of designs- what an absolute BANGER last page! Shitotsu, as well as all of Squad 6, has been in need of a power up for a while now, and this is the perfect fit for her. Metal, brutal and merciless. It warms my heart seeing her able to tell Gakuro to back off again, as she is absolutely way stronger than him currently. That "Take a breather" was a long time coming, and now she'll be kicking ass in front of his awed eyes!
Amazing choreography, insane reveals, and Shitotsu goodness- 12/10!

That is something I think of Blue Box and Akane-banashi. If those series had gotten really good animes, they could have seen good growth. To be fair, from 2020 onwards, the only really well-made anime is The Elusive Samurai. Despite some scenes in 3D, they really had an artistic view that elevated the material they had on hands. Undead Unluck is good too, but not in the same way as Elusive Samurai. Now we wait for the Ruri Dragon and Kagurabachi anime. Both have really high expectations, although I think KyoAni is gonna make a stellar job enough to be the best Jump anime of the decade, even better than CSM or JJK.

As if anyone ever thought Kimetsu no Yaiba could become even a 1 million seller series before the anime exploded in popularity, let alone a phenomenon outseling One Piece by 2x the sales, so it's not like we can predict what will or not become a "phenomenon" by simply "intuition", saying Sakamoto Days could have fantastic well made anime and nothing would change feels like just a biased take because the series did have a boost in sales even with the anime people complain, it got a boost by even a Live Action, so why would a anime by either MAPPA or ufotable for example not do anything for it? Would Kimetsu no Yaiba have become the same phenomenon if the anime was produced by some lower quality studio instead of ufotable?

It always comes to what resonates with the audience or not. Nobody would believe that CSM, by Mappa, with that level of animation, would just crash on its season and not become a hit like JJK or KnY. And yet, we got Bocchi the Rock as the winner of the season with a bigger reach than CSM.

The anime literally put all Chainsaw Man volumes in the Oricon Top 50 through is entire run making each of the former volumes surpass 1 million copies, it was a success, meanwhile Bocchi manga sold 100k ~ 150k in its peak and quickly dropped after. Of course not saying Bocchi isn't a big success i know how popular the anime became.

The number of volumes available is irrelevant, if anything having less volumes is technically easier for the general public to buy all together instead of having to buy a dozen copies at once.

What you're saying about MAPPA is just a assumption by your part, nothing official, so in the end of the day what we have as a fact is that the anime, independent of the hardcore fans opinion, gave it a pretty good boost at the time putting all volumes every week in the Oricon pushing the series backlog to over a million copies per volume, that's a great result on its own, far from crashing.

Not only they got god tier adaptation, they released at the time where most of the world are trapped in their homes with nothing to do except watching shows and play games. Plus, the early ep clips of Gojo Satoru domain expansion went extremely viral.
