Discussion Best 7 Man lineup of Japan Team (Assuming Everyone is healthy)

This is the best that Japan can offer!
Duke/Niou can't beat Oni/Kin.
I don't see any alternatives.
Kin practically is among G5 and combination with Oni they became Ultimate Double!
Duke/Niou and Atobe/Tane are close but the potential of most improving during the match is belong to Oni/Kintaro!

It's hard to say. In doubles strongest singles player stack up doesn't mean the strongest doubles. Duke/Niou has the advantage of beating #1 pair that Konomi officially state.

That said, Ochi/Mouri is strongest strongest doubles pair after the praise they try to push for this doubles 1.

S1: Byoudouin
S2: Tokugawa
S3: Ryoma
D1: Tanegashima/Yukimura
D2: Oni/Kintarou

But the one that's most confirmed in the manga due to "double bonus" is probably this.

S3: Ryoma
D1: Ochi/Mouri
D2: Niou/Duke

Not sure which one is stronger between the two pairs tbh. I'm more leaning on Niou/Duke because both Konomi himself and the manga say pro pair are the strongest pair.

I feel like Niou/ Atobe would serve as a better pair. Niou/ Duke did beat the German pros, but 1) The Pros three the first game by holding back. Not even to acquire data, they just held back for no good reason. 2) Niou is a natural counter to Bertie's AI and still barely won. Granted Duke has since unlocked Kijin but i think a synchro'd pair of HS2 Atobe's who can share Atobe Kingdom should be a lock against most teams. The only real stickler is we lose the Duke/ Camus Howling

I just think best pair in the tournament is something so strong a makeshift pair cannot randomly beat.

Now that I think of it, Ryoga can technically be in Japan and he was actually in it for a very short bit, so wouldn't the line line-up include Ryoga lol? It would take a HS slot though.

I think this is the strongest team. It does break the MS rule though.

Ryoma/Tokugawa/Byoudonin are the 3 strongest single player imo. And Ochi/Mouri is the strongest pair we know of and Niou/Duke beat the pro pair.

So to fix it, we can just add someone who manage to look even more impressive than Duke during the final that just also happen to be a MS, handling 2 G5 level player with Ohmagari as handicapped.

I hate the idea that Niou abandoned his Illusions. He transformed from being an elite doubles player to an average Yagyuu Tier like player.

Even if Niou can only copy 20-30% Camus/Byo. It is still stronger that Base Niou/Yagyuu.

I actually prefer Niou without Illusions and would rather see his own trickery style. At the end of the day he stops being a character by copying others and is just there as a placeholder for other proper characters.

I don't think him with Illusions is that good anyway. He had already seen 60% Byoudouin and yet his copy was under 50%. If the Pro doubles hadn't thrown a whole set the story would had been different, he only had tricks to win a few games until he got Howling with Duke.

So who would you personally replace Niou with that you believe will make this D2 pair the strongest? Without Illusions I highly doubt he should be in the pairing

Probably Atobe whose time limit won't matter as much since he will be sharing the workload with Kintarou. His natural style is all attack too so it sort of fits the 2 chasers doubles. Both of them should easily keep their service games too.

I mean Yagyuu/Niou and Sengoku will be the ones receiving losses for team Japan in Tokyo Olympics. Others are OP.
