Btw, I just saw that in the newest volume of Roboco (27), Miyazaki mentioned "wanting to aim for a nice round number like 300". We're at chapter 293 currently, are we genuinely wrapping up in under a volume??
Can someone with access to his comment from volume 27 double check that what I saw was right? I saw he was also joking about it being the 6th anniversary, and that the 10th is only 4 years away, but I'm confused that no one has mentioned that we might be 7 chapters from the series ending.

I don't know. A while ago he was talking about volume 30, but like now he's mentioning 300 chapters as a goal. So maybe its always been 300.

No, Miyazaki just mentions that his next goal is to reach a round "300 Chapters", if anything he actually kinda teases Roboco reaching 10 years since he thinks 6 years is a "odd number":

"Thank you so much for purchasing Me & Roboco volume 27!

It’s already been six years since Me & Roboco began serialization. I’ve been steadily achieving small goals along the way, but 6 years feels like such an odd number...the next milestone is 10 years, but that’s only 4 years away…Doesn’t 4 years seem like a long time? As for a nice round number, Chapter 300 is just around the corner, so for now, I’ll do my best to reach that goal!!

I’m not really one for records and don’t usually pay much attention to them, but I just watched the World Cup and saw Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, who are around my age, achieve some records, so I decided to take a little inspiration from that. I’ll do my best with every single chapter! I’d be happy if I could make you smile even just a little."

For the record, chapter 300 of Roboco would be the start of Volume 31 (or the end of Volume 30 if the last volume includes an extra chapter). So if he's actually considering it as a real end point, he's basically saying the same thing as previously.

Which, I don't know, could mean he's actually considering ending it that soon. But he's also a Jump author; I don't take what they say when it comes to estimating when they think they'll end the series seriously.

I’ve been thinking about “Quit Laughing, Shijima” and wanted to throw this out there:
What if, instead of becoming a regular Weekly Shonen Jump series, it got moved to Jump SQ? 👀

Shijima is a horror story with a strong boy‑meets‑girl core, super focused on atmosphere, tension and character vibes more than constant fights or power‑ups.
WSJ is a weekly grind with reader surveys and an expectation of non‑stop battle‑shonen hype. In that kind of meta, a slower, moodier horror series feels like it would either flop in the rankings, get forced to speedrun its own pacing, or be nerfed for being “too horror”

Jump SQ just sounds like a way better lane: it’s monthly, lets chapters breathe, the art can go crazy with details, and the mag is already home to darker, more mature supernatural stuff. On top of that, SQ really needs a clear flagship right now, and a Horikoshi horror could be the new face of the magazine without having to fight for attention every single week alongside WSJ’s battle monsters.
With digital platforms like MANGA Plus in the picture, it could live in SQ as its “home” and still get global reach without the WSJ schedule cooking the author.

So yeah, what do you all think? Wouldn’t the new Horikoshi project just hit way harder as a monthly Jump SQ title than as a weekly WSJ series? 🤔

Horikoshi wants to stay on Shonen Jump, he isn't going anywhere.

I remember Usazaki did illustrations for a fashion magazine or something while Act-age was running (rip).

There's probably other examples as well.

We also have to remember that Roboco’s author is the same dude who said in his first authors comment that the series was turning into a battle manga. I could see Roboco end this year and I also could see it end in 10 years. I could see it end sooner rather than later though because I don’t think there’s been any new major side characters introduced in a while which tends to show that an author is kind of done on that front for gag manga.

Something that is still a problem today honestly. If anything you (and I mean that hypothetically) have to look at things yourself to be the judge of it. You brought up Bleach TYBW arc, when I was about to start reading Jump (past and present) Bleach was on my list due to hearing about the Big 3. What I got that almost swayed me was Super Eyepatch Wolf’s video, “The Fall of Bleach.” I was still going to read it, but then I saw DBZIMRAN’s video, “Bleach, Ruined Reputation,” which was trying to debunk the misinformation that spread around regarding Bleach and challenging SEW’s video. It helped and prepared me for what’s to come when I started reading and watching the series. Helped because of covid but man, can those filler arcs get out of hand? But despite the flaws, I appreciate it and it also helps that the TYBW arc is being adapted and redacted so it can fix the problems that plagued the arc due to Kubo’s health and redeem the parts that needed the focus. But honestly I feel that the anime helped as it didn’t feel as bloated or bogged down by the fights, filler, or any of the humor that could feel distracting.
The idea of blaming Bleach rep on SEW is ridiculous, Zimran is a shit poster.
