And of course Shoseki overestimated Kiyoshi again, well, it's on par with the former volumes, so basically no real drop, but also that means Under Doctor did between 5k ~ 7.8k...

Black Clover final volume did pretty well, Guidebook also did pretty well, hope Tabata gets some pretty good rest and returns in the future, despite his comments here and there i feel he's like Horikoshi and it will try to return to Shonen Jump in the future.

Ah bummer. I was hoping there'd be a jump for no apparent reason, lol

Togashi family's paper shop. Run by Togashi's younger bro, who is a former manga artist

"
Off to Togashi Yoshihiro-sensei's family home, Togashi Paper Shop!!

Currently, the shop is run by his younger brother, Hideaki-san, who is also a former manga artist.

Amid the busy preparations for Obon, he graciously spent a full hour sharing valuable stories, from family anecdotes to behind-the-scenes tales of HUNTER×HUNTER.

He emphatically declared every time, "HUNTER×HUNTER won't wrap up at just 10 chapters every two years!"—and I couldn't help but burst out laughing lol"

Is this the reason why his manuscript papers has his own name on it?

I have a question about the sales numbers (I must be missing something)

Why is Kiyoshi listed at 7.9k sales when the initial data from a few days ago showed 10.1k?
And why isn’t Under Doctor on the list at all, even though it sold 8.4k copies? (Especially when Kiyoshi is included with 7.9k, even if it’s not accurate, that figure is still lower than 8.4k)
(Me & Roboco also sold 7.5k according to the data I received a few days ago, so why isn’t it mentioned as well, except in a separate footnote?)

Doesn’t this risk creating a misleading picture of the situation? People are easily influenced by these numbers and are quick to declare something “dead” as soon as new data comes out.
(I’ve already seen nine tweets saying “UD is dead")

They're estimates, not true real results. The numbers for Under Doctor & Roboco are taken from the Shoseki estimates (same ones that estimated that Kiyoshi sold 10K). Oricon is a more reliable source and since Kiyoshi ranked there with 7.9K -> Under Doctor & Roboco sold less than 7.9K

Ohhhh, first big problem solved (I was only using Shoseki. Thanks, haha!)

However, that still doesn’t fully solve the problem in my head (sorry for all the questions and concerns, I hope I’m not bothering you.. I’m used to playing with numbers for social media, not sales figures, so I get a bit confused)
(P.S: When I wrote “you” under this message 👇, I didn’t mean you personally, I meant it in a general way)

What I’m trying to understand is: why are you still presenting what feels like an incomplete picture of the situation? You list kiyoshi as 7.9k based on Oricon, but then in a footnote you write “UD estimates indicate 8.4k”

Wouldn’t it be better to present a more accurate list by also including the estimated Shoseki figures? For example:
Kiyoshi – 7.9k (est. 10.1k)
UD – Not Ranked (est. 8.4k)
Me & Roboco – Not Ranked (est. 7.5k)
Kinato – Not Ranked (est. 4.2k)

If you present the data like this, doesn’t it create a clearer and more accurate narrative, since you’re including both sources?
By doing it this way, the people who read it will think: “Oh, so it’s actually not selling that badly… there’s still some hope”
Especially in Kinato’s case: considering the overall drop in sales, 4.2k isn’t a terrible result. I mean, it’s not great either, but it still gives you some hope.

Under Doctor just lost more than 4K in sales, despite having 2 more days. Not looking good. I think it will sell like 10K or so by the end of the month, which means it will sell 10K less than volume 1. A drop of 50% between volumes is really not great, specially considering its ToC.

Last week's reviews, some of them at least since I am feeling very lazy with them recently:

Issue 36 2026:

1. Nue's Exorcist: Shitotsu's time to shine has finally arrived, as well as he Hollow weapon name!! I KNEW Kawae wasn't just ignoring that point, which means we'll get Ishu's weapon name as well eventually. Type Kaguna's an absolute SPECTACLE, taking the Giant Hands concept and combining it with a multitide of giant weapons to wield, while also not losing her brawler aspect, a very beastly style that contrasts Yagyo's refined Command Energy based sword style, the Tamaodo School- WAIT! Remember during the Estate raid Baldie's mention of the Tamaodo Squad? And look at the symbols around Yagyo representing the 12 strikes, they look eerily similar to Gekka's eyes, don't they? And Gekka can read people's minds, while Shiroha can read their emotions... I need to remove the theory overdrive from my brain, man.
Each of Yagyo's strikes is very distinct from the last: Utsubami is a defensive 360 backhanded motion, Zoukoku is a flurry of thrusts to make distance, Yotsunokagi follows after as a huge attack covering a large area, and so on. He has been put through harsh training and achieved the unbelievable amount of power, both for an exorcist AND Level 4. He is absolutely dominating a Soul Armored foe that just one shot 3 other level 4s effortlessly, and Shitotsu got support in the form of Gakuro to booth. And speaking of, I love how Gakuro is taking the role of support for Shitotsu, which is the opposite of how it was back in Mitori Village. Not only does it makes sense power wise, as Shitotsu's far stronger than Gakuro currently, but it shows how far she is taking herself in order to protecting, continuously transforming and tanking hits in order to keep him resting as she said last chapter. It's the same deal as before, protecting him by keeping him away from the fight, but now rather than push him away from her, she is showing he can trust her with the heavy lifting- too bad he is too stubborn for that!
And finally, after YEARS, we have confirmation that not only Takuro DID fight Yagyo head on, but he also pushed him FAR, to the 11th damn slash no less. I knew he couldn't be as weak as Kota tried to tell us head on...
I am so happy to see this unfold before my eyes!! 12/10!!!

2. Kagurabachi

3. Roku's House Of Oddities: The most touching chapter in the series by far. Using Child A as a parallel for the possible futures of the curses was a great choice from the author's part too.

4. Someone Hertz

5. Hal Formula

6. Animal Signal

7. Kinato's Magic: How has it taken THIS long for Linae to be actually relevant? Well we got a fanservice shot of her, which is nice, I like those tiddies.

8. Cannon Master: Okay transition chapter.

9. Class 2B Hero Destroyerz: 15 pages chapter again, and a standalone 2 chapter storyline- I don't see it surviving, sorry.

10. Drawn To The Fire

11. Under Doctor

12. Ichi The Witch: I'm so sick of this pacing dude, barely ANYTHING happened! Not to mention, I do not care about Amadoro, there is a severe lack of charisma in this party, and it's been happening for a while, Desscaras is hard careying on that front. Useless double spread to really hammer in the pacing issues to booth. I am very close to dropping this series, in spite of some occasional top 5s or even 3s.

No, there would be just more misunderstanding.

I'm not understanding, Shoseki is already posted by me 2 days ago, Iker posted the Oricon, unfortunately sometimes Shoseki overestimate some series so we get kinda of a confusing situation, but in the end Shoseki are estimations so you should only run with that idea and that's it or you will just overcomplicate things.

Regardless, it is a bad drop for Under Doctor, don't you think?

The scalping was really that big after all.

I assume the magazine noticed it considering votes are probably on the lower side and anyone could see the digital numbers for Under Doctor were much worse than its original physical sales ranking. Probably why they went with a mixed strategy of not overly promoting it as a hit, but still gave it some color pages and marketing. Kinato was the biggest loser here as it lost any promotion to Under Doctor even though their gap wasn't as big as sales led to believe, even though it still has cancellation numbers.

Now to see how it'll be treated going forward in the TOC. Will it take up Kinato's place or will it still rank above the Animal Signal, Hal Formula and Cannon Master batch?
