But yikes, I forgot how old SDS is now.
Four Knights is at 250 chapters already. Time is insanely fast. lol

That said, it's in an interesting comparison with Sakamoto Days as Nakaba is also a master at action scenes that the anime can't keep up with. Maybe if the whole anime looked like the later arcs it could have hurt the whole franchise.

I think there's generally a balance though and about finding what works for each series, not that all shows need Jujutsu Kaisen animation. Yozakura Family I think did the right thing by picking "more episodes" over top tier production and it did well enough I think if the anime was released sooner in publication, it would have sold much more. If long running shounen anime still existed, it would fit the structure very well. There was clearly an untapped potential there considering the growth at the end.

Oh hey WydViolet, I managed to post the one shots from jump giga summer so if you are interested its there. I think it has a solid step up compared to jump exocist spring giga from last issue.

Anyway, in regards to how some anime studios cannot keep up with certain actIon scenes to make sense. I think some just don't have the budget for it or if they do they simply think its too much work and try to cut corners if they can get away with it, both suck nevertheless in that regard.

I disagree. To say that Yozakura Family made the right choice by prioritizing more episodes instead of a top-tier production is to say that the anime didn't have the potential to be a success.

If you invest money in something, the least you expect is a profitable return. Nobody produces an anime out of charity.

But it was a success, they even gave it a season 2 that wasn't originally planned, made some merch, had good TV ratings, got collabs in a major game in Japan and the manga had a boost in sales even though it was basically over already.

Cool, so the fact it got a season 2 confirms it's a financial success by this logic.

Because evidently Kagurabachi had to be on the cover of the double issue
This seems to be a short-sighted reason

These days, everything gets a second season. Having a second season has ceased to mean anything.

I don't think they would spend money on making a second season if it is not at the very least profitable.

Was Gachiakuta profitable ?
Why do you act like Gachiakuta isn't a success? lol 30K physical sales is a success anywhere, it's an IP that does well enough for a major studio like Bones to make several cours of it. And again, your argument is literally "they won't make an anime if it's not profitable, they're not a charity", so Yozakura Family and Gachiakuta getting several seasons means they're doing well.

Do you think they would miss an opportunity like this?
They lost the chance of Chihiro being the (a) ghost instead of (together with) Luffy :derp

ToC analysis:

-Someone Hertz in the top 1 again, i do wonder how well the survey performance is actually, it's obviously pretty popular but sometimes the ToC performance feels a bit too good for a slice of a life on Jump, but well...

-It's been quite the while since Shinobi Undercover ranked this high, but looking at the chapter ranked it's pretty obvious that going back to school stuff after the infinite fights caused this spike, so basically, took copying Kill Blue to get on top 3 LMAO!

-Yooo Nue's Exorcist in the top 5 and color page next issue! I know i put in my prediction but that was more like a wild prediction, i expected to be more in the middle, but great to see, i guess Nue & captains vs Kasha is doing well in the survey?

Also not seeing Nuebros celebrating the good placements enough lol

-Roku doing good as always, yeah, the manga is doing good enough to already say this kind of stuff about the performance, really happy to see Nakamura finally getting the success...

-This is quite the drop for Akane-banashi considering how amazing it was doing in the last month.

-The Promised Neverland special chapter is confirmed to be pusblished on Manga Plus!

-Suddenly Hunter x Hunter is back in the middle lol

-Glad to see Hal Formula is holding nice so far, i wished it would be higher but but so far it's been doing considerably well for a Formula 1 manga, and is doing better than Green Green Greens too, so there's potential here, i do think is going to get a color page on issue #41.

-A drop for Animal Signal but still out of the bottom and getting a color page next week, so it's doing fine so far.

-Well, the same can't be really said about Cannon Master, 2nd ranking and it's already in the bottom 5, it might be in the edge of it but still the bottom, never a good sign to be there this fast but i'm not ruling the series out since it actually improves with the passing of the chapters, is just the beginning, let's see what happens.

-Kiyoshi color page in the bottom, what's going on with Saito putting color pages in the bottom? Is such a dumb thing to do, i can't believe a Editor with so many years in the magazine is unable to realise how placing a color page in the bottom gives a negative message for the readers.

-Class 2B continues to be stuck in the bottom 5, i guess that's it for the series, unless Sorachi pulls some really good character or arc it will probably be stuck in the back until Saito decides to axe it, let's see how volume 1 will perform, if it at least does decently i think they will keep it for a year but if flop like Build King i think it will be like 30 ~ 40 chapters.

-Sad to see Under Doctor in the bottom 2 but not that surprised, the chapter ranked was the fake doctor which was fine but not the best ones that will rank later.

-Well, Kinato's Magic ended, not going to go too deep into it but it sucks, i already checked the chapter and it got me a bit emotional, the series, in my opinion, 100% deserved way better than this, it wasn't perfect obviously, Amemiya did mistakes, specially trying to be My Hero Academia for a while but the problem is that much before this when the series was really good it was already in the bottom, this is what i don't accept, even when the series was good it felt like it never had a chance, and also the fact it never got a color page despite surviving a round, selling decently well and getting a reprint, it's just bizarre, but not much of a point in going on and on saying the same things, it's done, screw the readers, i wish the best for Amemiya and that he returns with his 3rd tentative but honestly, i don't know if he should try another battle shounen, it's pretty clear he enjoys drawing fanservice, he should try something like that ecchi demon one shot "Maou-sama wa Ase wo Kaku" instead of another typical battle shounen!

I'm not sure if this is a new thing, but all new battle shonen are doing bad at Jump, Magazine and Sunday, while slice of life or romance series are doing well. Futari Bus, Utsuranain, Umine Inn, Someone Hertz, Roku, etc. So I don't think it's that surprising it's doing this well TOC-wise, but just like Ichi, Saito probably just wants to highlight his era's biggest hits more, so they get permanently placed at the top.

Also not seeing Nuebros celebrating the good placements enough lol
Not sure about others, but we're at the point the lack of anime announcement disappoints me more than I get happy about this. It's nice it's doing well, but considering the line-up with all main series ending and the newbies doing bad, Kawae can probably go for as long as he wants, so I care a bit less about where it's placed.

it's pretty clear he enjoys drawing fanservice, he should try something like that ecchi demon one shot "Maou-sama wa Ase wo Kaku" instead of another typical battle shounen!
It's hilarious seeing social media people saying "he got desperate and started doing fanservice scenes". More like he was holding himself back early and when it was clear it wouldn't survive, he just did what he wanted for real.

I do think Kinato was based on Maou Ase though. It does feel like something he and an editor worked to turn that oneshot into a battle manga, the seitai magic is basically a mobile version of the bath effect from the oneshot. I agree he should stop trying battle and go for a romcom or comedy.

I think a problem with newer battle series is that the genre's popularity is driven by the casual audience, which usually means converting anime onlies to reading the manga which eventually gets them to read other battle manga in the magazine. But we're in an era where the previous generation take forever to actually end the series and let the casual fans move on to something else. Demon Slayer's manga ended over 5 years ago and the anime still hasn't actually finished the story yet. I genuinely have no clue when Jujutsu Kaisen's anime is going to finish. Chainsaw Man hasn't gotten close to finishing Part 1 yet, let alone having to navigate Part 2's divisive nature.

Back then, you had the weekly series like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, that never end but get really close to where the manga is currently at so you can make the switch (and not worry about spoilers). You get the series like Reborn or Nura that definitively ended at some point in the anime, so you had an incentive to switch to the manga. You get the series like Soul Eater or Toriko that completely veered off course from the manga content wise at some point, you can get more new content if you switch to the manga.

Now, you know Demon Slayer is going to be finished at some point. It's going to take forever, but you know Frieren is eventually going to be completely adapted, but the gap is going to be so long you don't really have to worry about spoilers, you're going to forget them by the time they adapt it anyway. Black Clover's going to do everything eventually. No matter how much you might want it, Jujutsu Kaisen isn't massively changing the last arc when the anime adapts it (if you even heard that the last arc was hated in the manga). You can be as patient as you want without "wasting time" on something you don't know about now. Real casuals have no real reason to explore anymore.

This also isn't even getting into the fact that remakes of old anime have taken off now. There's no need to check out Sakamoto Days, you can just see the new World Trigger anime when it comes out since you remembered liking WT as a kid. You're tired of modern exorcist series and tropes? The Hell Teacher Nube remake can be refreshing since it has older ideas and tropes, modernized. No need to go through the countless exorcist series in Magazine Pocket, or Jump+ now. And if there's no real need to check out Sakamoto Days, there's really no need to check out Shinobi or Nue or basically every new battle manga Magazine has done since Tokyo Revengers (another series that is taking almost 5 years to finish the anime). A casual needs some kind of novelty probably (ie. Kagurabachi's great popularity in the West or Yaernacht in Magazine being an ecchi harem battle series in a sea of mostly "sanitized" battle manga in Magazine)

===

And if there's less casuals reading the magazines, that lets genres, like slice of life or romcoms, that are more defined by more hardcore readers' preferences, to prosper in magazines in their stead.

Where did we get the info that Yozakura season 2 was unplanned?
My headcanon for the reason Jumps new works were taking so long to be animated was because the Editorial staff were asking for studios to commit to at least 2 seasons before the anime even aired.

I see Someone hertz sales are down, I was buying new manga volumes on Amazon and I found people were complaining about Someone hertz, I checked other forums and there's a sporadic complaint now and then about how the manga isn't as good as it was at the start. Though its rank 1 this week and generally very high in the TOC so maybe that's just outliers, and the sales will be back to normal come next volume.

I remember when world trigger aired its original anime, It was atrocious, even for back then. I dont think it helped the manga grow at all. I remember the big growth came after it moved magazines. I cant exactly recall what caused the manga sales surge. It might have just caught on because it started the competition/tournament style arcs as I remember many people who liked that.
The real wild case was Kingdom, the animes first season did nothing, and if I remember correctly it blew up because it was recommended on a tv show.

Funny you say that, since Shonen Magazine is having it the hardest compared to Jump, Sunday, or even Champion when it comes to battle shonen, as right now they are considered more of a romcom magazine by quite a few, and they are desperately trying to fill in the battle shonen gap with less success than most right now, which is saying something.

Just something to ponder during this type of conversation: Jump needs to step up in their game to try and launch more earlier releases in terms of anime, cause it does help in terms of popularity when it's at its earliest convenience.

Personal bet is that anime is taking longer to produce. But i could be proven wrong in this aspect.

Speaking of Giga, although i did not post the special chapters for To love Ru and Yuuna-san(Mostly cause i do not want to get banned from the site) i did manage to post the one-shots raws from Jump Giga Summer 2026 are here; enjoy:

"Even If the World Ends Tomorrow" by Higurashi Toyama

"Hitahita Cat" by Hajime Kurose

Short story one-shot compilations:

The more I see it, the more I am beginning to think that my affirmation that Tomohiro Okuno might have been inspired by Kazuhiro Fujita is still something am going to stand behind.

Anyway for my overall top 5 one shots that i did enjoy the most would be as follow with zero order hatsover as i thought all five were good in their own right:

"September Heat Haze" by Arashi Fujimi

"Send Smile" by Tomohiro Okuno

"Rising" by Rintaro Okubo

"Death Metal Exorcist" by Kaminagi Akira

"HELLO WORLD!" by Tenyu Ishigami

These are my personal picks of the bunch but i will admit i was quite torn if i should have my a overall top ten but a top five i think its abetter idea overall.

For a better understanding of the one shots i made a review of each one right here:
Shinden Kaime, at first i thought it would be another exocist one shot but came back surprised that it was unique enough in it own right and did not follow any of that, however I will say it was unoriginal. As the story felt formulaic at best as I think I have seen several of this kind of story beforehand, however the strongest part of the one shot was clearly the art itself, it was beautiful to see across the pages and the paneling was awesome. The only think to improve upon is just the story so it does not fall under the same old stories we see in one shots these days.

Yokai Specimens our first exocist one shot fo the issue, can already feel a vein popping from Shinuki from here, but I admit that while the art was rather weird at times, the story beats were unique enough that it left me wanting to see what else this type of story could bring with other potential specimens. The thing he would need a bit more work is the art itself as while the creature designs are awesome the characters kinda felt a bit basic to say the least.

Shinobito is made by a former participant of Golden Future Cup and an assistant for Sakamoto Days, I gotta say I was expecting a exocist story using ninjas as a background but instead it felt more like a coming of age ninja story with plenty of action, however I felt the story was a bit cliche to say the least when compared to the likes of something like Blade Kid(His one shot for GFC). All I can say is that he should really lean on his art a bit more is all I would say as it felt like it changed drastically compared to before. But I do hope to see him debut with a full series in the future.

September Heat Haze , one word to describe it: Immaculate. The art was solid and the action, for how little it had, felt heavy and important to the overall plot and the main character's relations with the cast was apparent enough that it was fun to look though and made me want to see more. This is one of those authors I REALLY think we need to look out for in the future.

Pancho and the Magician is a fun story as it kinda felt fun and unique and the way the author uses his art was also quite a treat as well as how the story continues . I would not mind seeing more of his works in the future as although I did like it I do think his paneling could use a bit of work.

Send Smile was something i thought visually i would dislike heavily, but boy did the art kinda make the story for me as for how unique it is. Basically its about a street performer doing his usual weird stunts until he finds out about a circus coming to down and from there the story changes by a bit and it was honestly one of my favorites fo the entire issue, also the fact that the author's art makes me feel like he may have been an assitant to the great Kazuhiro Fujita is enough to make me root for his success. I kinda want to see him debut in the future with this kind of art style.

Lycanthropy, great art with what looked like an interesting premised turned out to be the most formulaic story out of all the one shots in the issue. Its basically a exocist one shot in all but name. I do not think he is ready to debut and instead he should drastically improve the stories he dies make in the future.

A Love Story for Angels is a unique premise for a more romatic story that i have seen thus far and i cannot find myself hating this whatsover, the dynamic between the characters was unique and how the story concludes is quite the surprise. Honestly the only flaw I felt needed improvement was the art in all honesty but that I moves over time. Cannot wait to see what else is in stores for the author.

Tensai Gusō Sora Ki tuó Roku Gen another participant of Golden Future Cup as well as an assistant for Sakamoto Days taking part of this batch of one shots is a sign to see. Anyway this is far more action oriented than the one shot he did for his GFC debut, but I could see that it could do with some improvements and I did like the dynamic between the main duo of the story. I will say the character interactions remain his bread and butter, the only downside is that I think he needs more practice in the sense that he could do a lot more in regards to the action.

Rising is a story that i felt was just overall fun to see by each page. The dynamic between the leads was fun to see and the overall character desgin and art was something really awesome to see, i would not mind a continuation of this story just for what it could bring alone. I would not mind seeing this author debut soon whatsoever.

HELLO WORLD! Is honeslty a fun and unique setting that was overall one of the highlights for me in this issue alongside some others, the world was interesting and the art really sold it to me and how the digital affect the world in real time was really fascinate, as a newbie writer myself I could not find myself hating this whatsover. Would love to see the author debut in the magazine if they could.

Death Metal Exorcist was a surprised to me, I thought I would hate it but boy the art and the way it visually shown how the story played out was actually quite solid, the author clearly knew what he was doing here and I cannot fault him whatsover. Also his designs for the monsters is really something else. I for one would not mind seeing him debut in the nearby future cause I see plenty of potential with him going forward. This coming from a guy who is fatigued about exorcist themed one shots should tell alot.

Reika Jōonji, the young lady who works as an exorcist was kinda bland in its comedy and cutesh art. It did nothing really for me compared to the other one shots here.Hope the author improves after this.

Saint Break, not going to lie i was excited for this one shot based on the visual alone but my brother in christ did it feel lackluster, do not get me wrong the art is great but the action was not really good as it did not really try and put its weight around a bit meanwhile the story felt once more generic in the way it presents itself. I think the author needs a bit more time in improving bothers the action and the way he tells the story in my personal opinion.

"Nanja Q" was cute with its artsyle, i can tell it had alot of heart in this with the way the story seems to be told, so the only suggestion I could give is trying to improve the story just a tad bit more. But I would not mind seeing him make a few more one shots around his artstyle.

Spy Mission Failed!? The True Path of Self-Defense is a comedy one shot that felt a bit too absurd even for me, mostly because of the different artsyles for its main duo. Which I admit is quite clever but alas I felt like the comedy felt a bit bland compared to many others before it. I would hope that if he continues making comedic one shots he learns to improve the story, I can get past the art if it improves but it needs to make a better routine for the comedy aspect.

25 +364 was interesting because Esaka proves to be a solid artist, however I felt like the one shot was formulaic for a shogi based one shot, as I felt like this kind of story was already done plenty of times already using the sport in question. So for the writer I suggest to improve a little more and not fall for the same pit traps others before it have done. Meanwhile I think Esaka could try again with another writer.

A Timid Vampire Basking in the Sun has some interesting art and an unique way of storytelling, however I felt like some of its panels were not doing so good, so that place could use a little work. I mean he has a foundation just needs a bit of improvement is all.

Sukurazawa Went to Hell, is kinda crazy, I could tell that it was an interesting story and the art nailed it in some way, however I do think he needs a bit more practice as I noticed he just started this year, so would be good for him.

Even if the World Ends Tomorrow was interesting in the sense that the art is kinda amateurish but how the story presents itself in each panel was quite interesting. I think just improving the art will be enough.

Hitahita Cat was interesting cause I could tell it was made by a recent rookie with their art style but I do like how the more dramatic scenes played out. I think the author has a good future going for it, just needs a few tweaks in his art style and I think he is set.

Short stories one shots: I admit all of the authors have potential but I would like to see more of their official work before making any comments.

This was my overall reviews of all the one shots. Hope this helps you all in who you wish to follow more closely.
