Happy you caught up. The moment that made me sure I was interested was Chihiro vs Sojo.

I did like the Rakuzaichi arc but mostly because of the Sazanami Family's introduction and Kiyora as an antagonist. Hakuri's awakening was cool too. He is my favorite character.

You mean he'll get a blade for him? Once Kunishige forges the blade they will want to give it to their best swordsman. And he is a blacksmith first.

If it were up to Kunishige he would probably want to give it to Azami or Shiba but the latter's Sorcery is too useful.

It's definitely gonna be Urita's blade. We know Kunishige is extra selective of who he gives his weapons to, and considering the caveat of the lifetime contract he has to give it to someone in the vicinity before the masumi can retrieve it and since Urita has been ride or die in the forging process (and is clearly not terrible with a sword) it's a perfect fit.

It could be kuregumo, where he makes it and gives it to someone later but given everything the government and masumi have tried to pull on him so far I do not see him even giving them the chance for a selection process. It's going to the first person it can.

Shiba going from gripping Kunishige's back and trying to pull him from the forge, to softening his grip and supporting him in the final moments is so good. I also really love the implication that since Shiba can teleport despite him pulling on Kunishige he knew he couldn't bring himself to stop his friend because of how much this moment must mean to him.

Another short but good chapter, i hope the Hakozono takes his time and show us the whole process of forgin the swords and them handing them to the bearers before the war brokes out; even if it takes another 100 chapter to do so

Honestly, I'm a bit perplexed by the fact that we've been away from the manga's protagonist for so long...

And the first sword isn't even forged yet. We're not seeing that boy for a long while.

Which is funny, because I remember the wait for him coming back in the kamunabi raid being excruciating. But here, I haven't really felt it at all yet. Kunishige is just a really engaging character to me. And I get irrationally sad whenever I remember how he ends up despite it all.

He doesn't seem devoid of emotions. I don't think Samura would have said what he said if the reason was Sorcery.

Great chapter, but there was something I missed: who invented/devised the "eternal contracts" part of it all?

Was it in the original plans for Kunishige? Did the Masumi do something about it? Or was it Hasumi's doing?

Apparently it was in the document, but I don't know if it was Kunishige's plan. Was it Hasumi's or Urita's?
