Not really.

It takes quite a few liberties, is heavily censored, and is full of filler.

Plus, since it came out about twenty years ago, the animation hasn't aged very well.

Issue 44:

1. Nue's Exorcist
The popularity poll is really fun by itself and I love how much effort Kawae put into the art and outfits, but the chapter itself still topped it. Nue's survivor guilt is slowly eating her and all we saw from her since the beginning was slightly a facade to hide her pain. Just slightly because all these experiences mean a lot to her, she loves Gakuro and everyone else she met through the ages. The contrast to Kasha's desire to consume everything is amazing and makes this fusion an ego death for both of them.

2. Ura
Liked that we're going back to how that comment hurt Ura, but also properly characterizing the dumb classmate. Situations like this are often born of ignorance, but that's exactly why Kibitsu is someone special to Ura, he sees her as a person with her own issues and struggles and not just a token to be stereotyepd. A walking contradiction to his mission.

3. Someone Hertz
The model student meeting someone outside the norm and learning to let loose, not a new idea, but always something I enjoy and the chapter showing that through the radio is a beautiful idea. It's what created this bond between them, but taking it and turning into actions is the needed step forward their future.

4. Roboco
He's truly a dumbass scumbag and the comedy worked because the manga didn't hold itself back from showing it. Slapstick goodness.

5. Hal Formula
I'm not sure if I should be enjoying these race-less chapters this much, but I was invested into this sponsor saga more than anything so far. It's drama that's less melodramatic and more relatable, the manager is also pretty cute.

As for others, Roku now is forced to give us a Tama chapter someday. Cannon Master slowed down, but I still think it's likely an U-19 and the previous arc was ejected because readers were bored. Wish Ichi had a 2~3 chapter long Yugioh battle...

 

[Discomusic]

1. Roku's House of Oddities: Comedy Gevaudan is one of the strongest point of the series, and I am all for a "8 Dognitaries" arc in the next future. I also liked that every plothole question is addressed at the beginning and the general answer was "screw it, I am going to vaccinate the curse dog for comedy". That's a valid reason, better than no reason at all.
2. Witch Watch: A very powerful and incredibly dark chapter, even the part where the two lovers reunite feels wrong in a way. The ship crashing attack was hope destroying, and I'd prefer that the last resort weapon is something that can extend the series for another arc or two, instead of being fully resolutive. But we'll see.
3. One Piece: When was the last time we had a full Zoro chapter? To compensate for the wait, he is an absolute badass in this one. Every arc is a training arc for him.
4. Sakamoto Days: I enjoyed this reunon chapter. Shin is now officially on par with the strongest characters of the series, like the real protagonist that he is. As for the nominal protagonist, he has now to face the greatest danger known to man...a woman saying "we need to talk".
5. Under Doctor: A thing that I like a lot of this series is that Haiji respects all of his colleagues even if he is levels above them, so with competition out of the way, the series can focus on the emotions that drive the doctors, the patients and the people putting their hopes in them. As a result, all the surgeons who tried this operation come out of this arc better than before, and we don't have anyone to hate.
6. Class 2-B: Heavy Destroyerz: Now that the series is finally readable, I am enjoying a lot of things. For example, the twisted mentality of the so-called "hero", that is just a natural enemy of the Demon Lords without actual good and evil morality being a true factor. Or the sudden switch to comedy at the end, with Mogura proving who is actually strong. It is a good read now, but I am also worried about Sorachi's health so if this series has to be interrupted I am perfectly fine with it.
7. Ichi the Witch: Seven Star randomly revealed: negative. Card game arc discussed and then avoided: negative. Heroine wins with no effort because she is just that talented: negative. Pistol giant magnificent blast: SUPER positive!!
8. Akane-banashi: I don't know if I like this chapter or not. I feel that it's great, but at the same time I can't grasp what makes it so great, as if my mind is too limited to fuly appreciate it. For sure it was of great impact that the named spectators are so invested that don't spend panels for explaining us what kind of Rakugo are we witnessing, as they do for any other exhibition. That's the mark of a true master: you don't rationalize the story, you just experience the story.
9. Hal Formula: The sponsorship hunt written for us adults continues with an heartwarming development. As is typical for Terasaka, the series is not ony about the sport itself but also for the world surrounding it. And once again, there is the risk that it resonates for some but not for the people who actually vote the series and buy the volumes. My fingers remain crossed.
10. Graykeith: Translator Daemonica: The weakest chapter so far, but still a good chapter. The "as you know" moment explaining all the library system at the beginning was unavoidable I guess, but this must be an important place for the rest of the story so it needed a proper introduction. The setting for this story is still very enjoyable and can make its fortune.
11. Someone Hertz: Having this as the first read of the week has the potential of ruining my reading mood, but luckily it was not a bad chapter. Sure, the thing I looked forward the most (Mimei facing his heroes) was sidetracked, but I am happy that the series tried a long-ish arc and played well its strengths. Next week we begin anew.
12. Kagurabachi: Interesting chapter with the flashback return of some characters, well-known or just teased up to this point, and a character introduction that was pretty cool, worthy of the Paul Phoenix stamp of approval.
13. Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi: And finally the obvious reveal, but with a twist (I have a videogame in mind with the same twist, but it would be a huge spoiler so no explicit mention). This is all to tie this apparently filler arc to the main story, which is a shame because I liked it as a filler arc between important events. As a bonus, the Mangaplus page with the name of the chapter and the preview image is hilarious.
14. The Ura Files: Good idea to give the easygoing classmate a chance to redeem himself, he can become a much more enjoyable cast member than he seemed at first. I noticed that this chapter never moves away from the classroom, but the focus was on character building so the setting could be sacrificed for once.
15. Me and Roboco: I had fun with this chapter. Roboco for once gives sound advice, but Second Year is unredeemable...even though some girls may like his straightforwardness.
16. Animal Signal: The series is probably trying to fill that vacated Witch Watch comedy spot since the plot of this week was of the same vibes. It was not the best example of good WW comedy, but the octopus character was very fun, especially when she panicked.
17. Cannon Master: Nice attempt to give the series some extra time, but we are not buying it. Zipman was around this number of chapters when it started skipping through important bits of story and leaving the development to a few narration boxes, and guess how much more it lasted. The chapter itself was not even that bad, the craftsman has a nice design.
18. Nue's Exorcist: The chapter itself didn't impress me much, nobody expects Nue to actually sacrifice herself when Gakuro is on the move. The talk of the week is the weird popularity contest, that made me google some of the winners to remember who they were (I surprisingly do, after a quick memory refresh), and the great scandal that is Zenno not being in the top 3 at least.
19. Shinobi Undercover: Making Yodaka bond with the sentient slime mold as if it was a Pokémon is certainly a choice. Spending a whole chapter on this is more than it should be allowed to, but at least this part is done and we can focus on something more interesting.

In Ura, the artist demonstrated skill in drawing ecchi manga, and instead of taking advantage of that, he wastes time on comedy. He doesn't want to do battle shonen, okay, but he doesn't need another comedy.

Question for you Reborn fans on here, is the anime a good adaptation of the material that it does cover?

It's objectively a really good adaptation, it adapts everything pretty well, even the first Normal Days part that today would be just condensed to like 12 episodes or even less is well adapted, i particularly really dislike how some people try to gaslight into the idea that it's a unnecessary arc when is very important because pretty much all the big characters introduction, relationships and characterization that carries through the entire series are done in this 1st season of Slice of Arc & Comedy episodes so when the first action arc & the main plot kicks in is just so much more satisfying than just rushing through things because people have the attention depth of a spoon.

And about the "filler" arcs, they could barely even be considered filler since is not only wrote by Amano but they're actually about very important characters in the story canon, it's like the Kaguya flashback arc in Naruto Shippuden anime.

Some people want a remake but this would be just a terrible idea since there's no way they would be able to adapt over 400 chapters with the same animation quality and pacing in today's industry.

It shows how MangaPlus has more freedom for it. In Hero Organization the use of color in the last pages/during battles is really nice. And Boichi has been abusing colors in The Marshal King.

This week Graykeith chapter gave me Harry Potter vibes, which for a big fanboy like me is obviously a plus

I really hope this series is getting the votes, so far (and based on next chapter preview tii) Hokami is really sticking to the theme instead of quickly falling into the battle shounen trap, so it's a big plus for him and the fact that so far it's a pretty charming series it just makes it better.

Ura Files is a good series no doubt, it's funny and the art is great but i hope is just that it's only 4 chapters so far and they're holding the ecchi back so the reward feels better when it happens because it does feels tamed since the 1st chapter.

Hmm, interesting, not gonna lie, they moving up the release gives me a bad vibe, it's right now halfway through filling vol 3 with 21 chapters which will complete at the end of October / beginning of November which is very likely going to be the timing for the final serialization round of the year, so the timing is curious, but Class 2B ending next round would be pretty insane, or maybe they will move to J+?

That's just me wondering, probably will not mean anything.

No, the reception has been quite overwhemingly positive, its just not at the same "level" as Ura Files but it's actually really difficult to find a negative opinion about Graykeith evein in the Forums lol Chapter 3 is also full of praise.
