I am so glad noone bothers to leak akane. Having THAT color page leaked would have ruined THE moment.

Kudos to the goat Suenaga for the idea.

It implies author can request to be given a CP

Very genius CP too btw. It does not put extra strain on the artist, and it was IMPACTFUL despite how simple it is.

Kaiju no 8 also had middle of chapter CP in early ch

I literally posted the Akane-banashi color page here & Twitter lol

Is just that Akane doesn't have that much motion in the west, even Nue color pages get more views & likes sometimes.

So what happens on TYBW anime is filler too?
Yes

If it’s not in the manga, it’s filler. That’s the definition.

Besides, in some cases, filler content even contradicts the manga itself.

*Reborn* is one such case; look at the end of the Future Arc:
in the manga, Tsuna rightly doesn't recognize Verde, having never seen him before, whereas in the anime, he does.

It’s similar to *Naruto*: in the anime,
Naruto recognizes Utakata—having seen and spoken to him—while in the manga, he has no idea who he is.

Since you mentioned it, the Kaguya filler flashback is also quite contradictory to the manga
where it is clearly stated that Kaguya's children had no idea the Ten-Tails was their mother, whereas in the anime they see her transform
and it is even contradicted by *Boruto*.

In any case, I don't consider the original *Reborn!* anime a good adaptation; filler aside, it was heavily censored and made much more kid-friendly compared to the manga (which was already quite toned down considering the premise—a mafia story, albeit one featuring characters with superpowers).

No it's not, filler means content that doesn't have relevance to the plot or is used just to fill gaps or stretch runtime/lenght of something.

Manga isn't a entity that rules above everything or the end of all sources in the world, is just one of the sources to write a story, the author who created the story is the one that dictates what is canon or not to its own creation and we have many other sources to tell the stories that are unable to be told in a manga. By using this incredibly limited definition of canon you're saying that stuff like Naruto The Last or the Boruto movie are fillers, Bleach Jigoku-hen movie is filler, Dragon Ball movies like The Battle of Gods, Resurrection of F and Broly are fillers, all the Naruto, Bleach and other series Light Novels which are literally canon are "fillers" and the list goes on.

Saying that the TYBW is "filler" when it's literally Kubo writing all these changes in order to be the definitive version of his own story is crazy :s

Well, this is explaining what a long running anime does when is reaching the manga content, which is to produce anime original content, Franz is just saying "anything that isn't in the manga" is filler even when is the creator writing lol

Under Doctor ending the arc with 'the new is retiring and will never be important again' somewhat shows one of the main issues of the series, nothing sticks. It makes sense in the story, but the lack of recurring characters is one of biggest issues of the series, even 33 chapters in it feels like we're still in vol 1 'episodic stories with one-off characters to show off the MC's power' mode. It's probably far too late to do anything new at this point, but the series really lost its direction when the action arcs were badly received.

On the contrast, I'm glad Hal Formula is spending some time focusing on what seems to be a new part of the core cast with Suzukaze's manager. The little brother is cute and all but he's more a cheerleader than anything else, the series definitely needs more adult characters like this.

First impressions of the chapters in Issue #44:

Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi: The open secret has been revealed, and now it could kick off the battle sequence I’ve been looking forward to most in the entire manga (this might be the first step of many toward the end)

UNDER DOCTOR: I think my emotions shifted about 3–4 times throughout the chapter but overall Tanimoto knows how to play with the reader! (please japan, give him a chance!)

Greykeith (I’ll edit this after lunch): I need to reread the chapter carefully, because I skimmed through it… but it seems to confirm more and more that the September series have that extra something

Yes, and precisely to extend the runtime, it adds things that don't exist in the manga—ergo, they are filler material, hence the term "filler."

When a manga is released first, it serves as the primary source and the canon, while the rest (anime, movie, LN) are adaptations.

Paradoxically, the case of *Dragon Ball Super* is the opposite, because the film and anime came before the manga; therefore, in this instance, the anime is the source material and the manga is the adaptation.

That, if I may say so, is absolute nonsense.

The manga is the primary source.

The anime is just an adaptation.

It doesn't change or add anything, because the manga remains exactly the same.

Well, this is explaining what a long running anime does when is reaching the manga content, which is to produce anime original content,
The case of *Gintama* isn't the best example, as it belongs to an era when anime were produced continuously while the manga was still ongoing; nowadays, the preference is for adaptations that pause to let the manga progress or that only adapt the source material years later.

Franz is just saying "anything that isn't in the manga" is filler even when is the creator writing lol.
And.....

What exactly changes?

Again, you seem to really not comprehend what "filler" means because you're not only talking about some random anime original arc but saying literal canon material in movies, light novels and changes writen by the own creator for anime are "filler" because they're not included in a manga.

You're acting like a manga is the absolute gospel that is above everybody else including it's own creators lol

You also doesn't seem to comprehend what canon means, the manga isn't the primary source, the author & creator is the primary source, a manga is just one of the tools for the author to tell the story and at any moment he wants, he can change what it was said in that manga and the new information/adaptation will be the new "canon", we have many instances of that happening in every sort of media including cases like Shaman King rewriting it's entire "final arc" years after its completion. Also something being a "adaptation" of the manga doesn't make it not canon because again, canon is what the author decides, not the fact that it "came first".

Light Novel books aren't "adaptations" of the manga but extended stories and material mean to expand the world and tell stories not able to be told in the manga.

Dragon Ball Super is the worst example out there that you could use, because there was no "official source" between them, both anime & manga are their own canon version based in the plotlines created by Akira Toriyama, and this isn't me saying, both Toei & Toyotaro confirmed ages ago that both anime & manga followed Toriyama storyline, so none of them were a adaptation but their own thing, also just to complicate even more, if the manga is a adaptation of the anime and the anime ended 8 years ago, by your logic wouldnt be everything in the manga post the universal tournament be "filler"? :XD

Franz, are you actually watching the TYBW anime? It has a fucking ton of changes and story additions that change a lot of stuff from the manga, which also btw improved the hell out of the arc, we got a whole episode of the Squad Zero using their bankais which was never shown in the manga, Kubo wrote a whole new form for Ichigo, and you really going to tell all of these are "fillers" just because it's not in the freaking manga? If you really think, so again, i feel like you don't know what "canon" and "filler" actually are lol

That is indeed the case.

There are many instances where the manga contradicts things the author states outside of the story.

When the manga is written and drawn first, it is the primary source.

Everything that follows is merely an adaptation.

Super isn't exactly the best example; it’s no coincidence that the entire Dragon Ball franchise has been a huge mess for the past ten years—and that was even before Akira passed away.

Exactly, they aren't in the manga, ergo they're filler.

You don't need to be a genius to figure that out.

Kubo wrote a whole new form for Ichigo, and you really going to tell all of these are "fillers" just because it's not in the freaking manga?
Yes

If you really think, so again, i feel like you don't know what "canon" and "filler" actually are lol
Manga = original, canonical material

Filler: extra material not found in the manga, used solely to extend the story

That is how it has always been, and that is how it will always be.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

And since this whole conversation stems from the discussion about "Reborn" no, the filler arcs aren't canon; they actually contradict the manga itself...

TYBW anime is not filler lmao.
As I said, if it doesn't exist in the manga, it's filler.

"In anime, filler refers to original episodes, scenes, or entire story arcs created by animation studios that were not part of the original source material, such as a manga or light novel"

This is the definition, literally.

They’re changes explicitly made by Kubo after years of him thinking about changes he’d like to have made
Are they changing the manga?
No.
Ergo, they are so specific to the anime—which is an adaptation.

Nothing I love more in an internet fandom than when an author changes or clarifies something about their work and fans go "nuh-uh" because they don't understand the concept of "word of god" or think they're somehow above it.

The "Word of God" doesn't matter all that much if the author contradicts it later on XD

than when an author changes or clarifies something about their work
Oh, so the manga was changed?

I didn't know that.

Sorry, then.

And anyway, where is this "Word of God" supposed to be?

I don't recall Kubo ever saying, "From this point on, the manga doesn't count."

There's no way Toriyama wrote Super. It's not different at all from all the other Dragon Ball original anime or Toyotaro fanfic.

I think Franz is extremely troubled or is confused on what is categorised as filler
"In anime, filler refers to original episodes, scenes, or entire story arcs created by animation studios that were not part of the original source material, such as a manga or light novel."

This is the official definition.

If you want to dispute it, that’s your business.
