Only exists because they're both bastard swords and Blackfyre was supposedly lost beyond The Wall. Timeline makes no sense otherwise, as the Mormonts had Longclaw for 500 years or something, which predates Aegon's invasion.

Tons of cool stuff to theorize about in ASOIAF, but a lot of it doesn't go much more beyond "cool easter egg for readers" territory. Like yeah, it's cool if Blackfyre ended up back in Jon's hands because R+L=J and all that, but Longclaw and Blackfyre are both Valyrian steel swords, so they serve the same purpose. And as far as the King always wielding Blackfyre - Aegon IV decided to throw that tradition out the window and Jon isn't going to be king anyway. So the utility of the sword being Valyrian steel is the same either way and the symbolism doesn't go very far either IMO.
