Man, Coentra(o) is definitely the revelation of the tournament. What an enlightenment and an example. Together with Maicon, an example that back positions can be attractive. A player that was a forward but only one year and half before the WC they change him from Forward position to LB position. The guys plays it like he has always done. Isnt he the one Madrid and Bayern have been linked too? If he continues playing so well, he'll be leaving benfica come the summers end.

And unlucky for ivory coast, even if portugal lose, it will take a minor miracle for them to qualify and overturn that goal difference.

Ivory Coast are out, so are France imo. Congrats to Portugal and their left back was awesome but North Korea was a bit disappointing.
I hope Spain can put on a show later today.

Better chance? Ridiculous! You have get a team out on the pitch to win. The French squad might still just refuse to come on and then give a letter for domenech to read out to the world. So that'll be like 0.001% vs 0%

As he is playing right now, I think he won't be linked to Madrid and Bayern only. I wouldn't be surprised if more teams are willing to pay for him. But with Mourinho, Madrid might have the best chances

You could ask Ivory Coast to play France's match in France's shirt. They speak French and African rooted team players aren't an oddity in France. All domenech has to do is send every player away because they refused to share the breakfast and thus he has to ask the FIFA for an allowance for their new "french" players

France - with Diaby, Sagna, Evra, etc - on the other hand can play Ivory Coast's match. Maybe "Ivory Coast" could at least achieve a 2-0 loss against N-K and those poor N-K players will be forgiven by their leader

Spain should be winning by at least 5-6 goals. I hope the goal difference doesn't come into play in order for them to qualify, otherwise they'll regret their chances.

LOL, thats the exact same problem half the teams in the world cup have. Can't say I am sorry at all.... It's not like having 0 skill is not their fault. It's a shame they even got to go to the world cup, there are so many teams in south america and europe that are so much better than them.... Same thing for african and asian teams, there are so many teams basically anywhere that are so much better and yet they do not go. I don't want to be rude but IMHO it is kinda dumb a bunch of teams who have no skill at the game get to go to the WC simply to fill a spot. Not sure how it'd be possible to solve the issue (in that sense, I just felt like complaining lol) but the WC would indeed just be so much better without so many african and asian teams who seemed to have never seen a football before the WC.

I am not saying they outright should not have a chance to be there, I just think there are plenty of teams who did not go to the WC that should be there while there are plenty of teams who did go but have no business in it.

Jupp, but the 'missing' teams didn't qualify for a reason. I'd love to see Ireland instead of the french debacle but it just wasn't meant to be this time.

I don't mind how the qualifications work, they're fair. It's not the team's fault when one area has more professional teams and another less. The competition in e.g. Europe is a lot higher on pro-level but that doesn't exactly helped in the end to pick out the best teams for the word cup, as we all can see now. Some are really just disappointing while the one or other less experienced team surprises positively.

Giving this chance makes the colorful mix of the world cup teams especially interesting to me. It's a lot more entertaining than a bunch of famous pro teams that do as expected. I remember rooting like crazy for Jamaica's team back in the '98 world cup. It was a completely overchallenged underdog but a fun team and brought a lof of entertainment into the matches. In the end nearly everyone here owned a Jamaica shirt, even after they were knocked out. Cool Runnings with balls, so to say

So we have the final group matches from today on, which are aired at the same time so one gotta pick what to watch..

Mexico - Uruguay
France - South Africa

I'm gonna watch Fra:Rsa, even if it doesn't really matter who will win, non of these teams will make it unless they win like Portugal yesterday and Mex:Uru doesn't result in a draw.

Group B
Nigera - South Korea
Greece - Argentina

Grc:Arg, I think the reason is pretty obvious Argentina is the group leader and both Greece and Kor got 3 points, while Nga has cero so far. So It's pretty much open actually who will make it. I expect Argentina and South Korea to make it to the 8s though.

I won't be watching a group's A match. I do hope that Mexico wins. A salonremise (= we use it in Dutch for games in which both teams make the result in their advantage. Let's say an agreement on a tie in this case ) would be really lousy and stupid.
