He was jumping to play the ball, the knee in the back didn't look intentional.
How, exactly? He was planning to fly over Neymar or something?

Back to what I said, malicious isn't really the word... as I said he DIDN'T want to injure Neymar, clearly. He just wanted to stop the play... but he went too hard. Red card, no 4 month ban nor death threats, just a red card, lol.

I don't agree. How often you see someone jump like he did, when there's no chance to win the ball, and with the knee up? 1 in 1000 matches, and every time with a bad intention. It was malicious imo. He obviously didn't want to injure Neymar, just hit him I guess.
I just meant hard fouls. And it was just that. Never ever has Zuniga tried to take Neymar out. He didn't want to get a red card either. he wanted to reach the ball, didn't make it and crashed into Neymar. There was no malice whatsoever.

Nope, disagree. It not being a yellow is bad, but that's not a red to me. He was jumping to play the ball, the knee in the back didn't look intentional. If anything, his leg was out for the ball, not to bury it into his back. Pretty reckless play, but not malicious.
Really? The ball was in front of Neymar, he didn't aim the ball in any moment. He wanted to make the foul, make Neymar fall to stop the counterattack. It was with unnecessary force, in a dangerous way. If come with the sole on the opponent is red card, come with the knee like that is as bad.

How was it in front of Neymar? The ball was in the air above both of them.

He could had used his body or his arms instead of his knee like every other normal player, which is why I think he deserves a red card and why I think it isn't just a normal play like every other time we see another guy stop a play. Call it imprudence or wtv.

Neymar is 1 metre in front of him and stops it with the stomach. There was no need to jump.

He did use his arms, they were on Neymar's shoulders when he came in contact with him.

Meh, I'm with Sky on this one honestly, but I'm not going to keep repeating myself when we're not going to agree. Nvm.

Oh I do agree with the red card Hardy. Because it was stupid.
But it was not intentionally. It was as stupid as Silva blocking Ospina.

Yeah but no yellow for tactical fouls was an order by the FIFA. Not the fault of the refs.

Which was prolly the most stupid thing FIFA has done since accepting Qatar for 2022's WC.

Dude came behind Neymar, didn't even reduce his speed or shit
Anyway, the guy should've gotten a card since his " killing attempt " against Hulk to begin with, this is all because of the ref who let both Brazil and Colombia run wild, James Rodriguez too received some dangerous tackles that deserved a yellow card

Well crap the ref will be the one who overlooked Suarez biting Chiellini, didn't give a penalty for Cavani and gave a wrong red card for Marchisio...
I just hope he will be derping around for both sides.

I didn't mean it that way.
hahha, I never felt more frustrated as that stupid ref took Italy apart piece by piece. Stupid red card, and no red card for Uruguay was indeed hilarious. He seemed really lenient towards South Americans so you guys have your work cut out for you...

Is that so? Some referees did this in some matches though.

Summers in the USA aren't too bad...depends on what part of the country :derp
It's the same here, big countries are that way. :p

We're in winter now, that's why World Cup hasn't had many techinical breaks.

Yeah, Zuniga's foul was a common foul, not even necessarily a yellow...I mean, I think he should've gotten a yellow for the way he came in, but certainly not a red. If Nigel de Jong didn't get a red for his "karate kick" as they called it, that wasn't a red. I jest, I jest. De Jong should've been off, of course, but that's a different story. Still, it wasn't a red card for Zuniga. Definitely a booking, however, but the ref had a poor day across the board. The only call he really got right all day was Thiago Silva's booking.

For me, the only biggest relief in this whole zuniga-neymar story is that Neymar's vertebra was only broken and his spinal cord wasn't damaged; otherwise, if I may believe a very famous sports doctor over here, he could have had a paralysis. That sports doctor also found the medical staff of Brasil very irresponsible. They should have immobilised Neymar in a way that his spinal cord couldn't have been damaged when doing the carriage (which they didn't).

Anyway, the outcome of this whole thing could have been worse.

I am utterly disappointed in Brasil, Colombia and the referee. Rugby players, even boxers have more respect for each other. Fair play was at - 100% level, 3 red cards for both teams would have been a reasonable minimum. It looked like there were 22 doped players on the pitch and one high-in-the-sky-marihuane influenced referee.

It's all referee responsability, to maintain the control of the match. It tends to be a calmer match since it is South America against Europe. South America soccer always had this style, with more fouls than European consider normal, that's why you guys must be surprised. Play against Chile and Colombia in a row was an adveture for us. :p
No need to worry, foul is one thing, break a vertebra is another thing. We won't injure anyone. You guys say it as though we were who injured Neymar. lol
