They changed the rules not long about it IIRC, so a yellow card is not unreasonable if the player has intent of playing the ball (which he did imo).

Wasn't aware of a rule change, but that tackle wasn't completely clean and it stopped a sure goal... so idk. It's super iffy to me.

Russian goalkeeper had good reflex to save that goal with his leg. Not easy as Kasper could've potentially done the same thing even though he was diving to the wrong side. Good to see Russia progress as considering the huge fan support and the fact that they are the hosts; it keeps the World Cup vibes ALIVE. Spain deserved to be knocked out. Karma is a bitch. Iran should've won against Spain. They were robbed.

Danish match was utter depressing and dire to watch. Except the second half of extra time and penalties. Modric should've finished the game off but I think nerves got the better of him. Still good to see Croatia progress as Denmark vs Russia would've been even more boring to watch then this game today.

Uruguay have been the most impressive team to watch so far in this world cup imo. In terms of collective team play and unity; they can go all the way. Brilliant with or without the ball. Everyone is praising the french because of Mbappe but that was only one match. They haven't really been amazing to watch nor have they played to the standards they should with the team they possess. They should've won their previous games more easily. It won't be easy for France to win and overwhelm Uruguay as they did to Argentina. That was a messy game and I disagree with a lot of pundits and journalists stating that Argentina played well. That's utter BS. Messi is not a leader and I felt sorry (a little bit) as when he looks around his team mates they look unbothered and too dependent on one player to work his magic. Add the fact that the team and manager clearly fell out behind the scenes; no wonder their formation and play were awful to watch! Fingers crossed Cavani can play!

I think someone will get a red card in the Brazil vs Mexico game. Brazil aren't the invincibles (anymore) and some of their key creative players are too greedy with the ball. Both teams find it difficult to challenge for clear cut tackles. Mexico only know how to go forward lol. I hope it'll be good end to end play!

Belgium should progress easily against Japan considering how many good players and creative players they have. I would be absolutely shocked if they lost against Japan. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Sweden vs Switzerland - I couldn't care less and I really hope it'll slightly be more interesting match to watch compared to Denmark Vs Croatia one. Sweden deserve to go through as they played well in previous matches and were very very unlucky against Germany.

Colombia vs England - I hate our media stating that our loss against Belgium has opened the door for us to reach the finals. What utter nonsense. Belgium was the first test for our team and we failed miserably. Stupid move to rest so many players but even so we should've performed well at the very least. Colombia are very attacking and are much more better at free flowing passing. England are stagnant imo. Always have been and I've only seen a few glimpses of natural attacking play. This won't be easy for us. If tactics are on point, the right starting 11 are picked and they actually TURN UP on the football field then we can win this. I reckon we can just scrap it.

Two penalty shootouts on one day, interesting. With Spain falling, it seems it's already decided that we'll have a surprise finalist from the bottom half of the draw, even England hasn't reached any finals outside their home. Brazil's way looks the most difficult, let's see if they can cope with the challenge.
