i really do love *my* car! and i have a good reason to call it *my* car! When we sold our old Passat my mum wanted to have a VW Polo, i wanted to have a VW Golf. i had my driving lessons on a Golf 4, so i learned to love that car
One day my mum found a really cheap VW Golf 4 and bought it.
Mum => Polo
Me => Golf

sooo: who's car is it now?


and LOTR is the best story ever! i prefer the book but the film is top as well

Lotr is one of the most famous book, it probably created the fantasy genre, obviously many love it and I think a lot prefer the book over the film, me for example. I only saw the first movie.

The movies are great, but the book is invincible! J.R.R. Tolkien is *the* fantasy auther! i've read the book twice and i simply love it!

It's a shame that the movies are hardly as good as the books!

and i can only repeat it over and over again: J.R.R. Tolkien FTW!

Did you read other books by Tolkien? I read also "the Hobbit" and "The Silmarillion", and I have in my bookshelf at least other 3 books by Tolkien.

I like Unfinished Tales (also by Tolkien), you can really use your imagination on what happens after the story's [un]finished.

yeah, i've read "The Hobbit". I also have "The Silmarillion" and "News from Middleearth" (dunno if that's really the english title though), but currently i didn't have time to read one of the last two. But i'm gonna read them soon

yeah, the first part of the book is kinda boring because you're getting introduced to the hobbits and their way of living. But as soon as the Hobbits leave their home it's getting interesting
Funny when they meet Tom Bombadil (i was so disappointed when he didn't appear in the fiilms >.<) and it rocks as soon as The Nazgul appear

guys, plz, even if i worship Tolkien, we are WAAAAY off topic ^^ shouldn't we move this to the hang out thread if you want?
(i have every book written by tolkien regarding the history of the middle earth and some other books written by other authors - i even have a dictionary about the elven languages with the authors' signature one of the thirty in the world

good times...I really appreciate the warm reception

and dont worry - you're not the only one who sucks at tagalog; for me - its hard finding your place with other filipinos (its like we are not asian, but were not obviously not american, but some eclectic little mix of the two - making it hard to find any sense of national identity.) IMO

oh, and trust me - about doing art professionally - definetly go for it (I myself graduated in computer graphics) BUT more, and more I find that companies want to hire artists that simply knowing what they are doing; regardless of education - but having that foundation will definetly make you stronger in their eyes - good luck to you.

Thanks. And I'm going to study in the Philippines next year. Finally decided on my course. Multimedia and Photography. Then at the end of the course, I'm definitely choosing 2D, which means animation. *hopes to find a job somewhere in Disney >.>*

study in the Philippines...really?!?! that's awesome!

just a bit of advice though...alot of animations these days incorporate some form of CG-manipulation (even 2-D)...so I would suggest exposing yourself to a healthy mix of both.

but I definetly applaud your adherence 2-Dimensional animation - with the OVER-exposure of 3-D and fancy CG; 2-D has lately taken a backseat and its really quite a shame...I personally feel that NO amount of 'fancy CG' will ever replace the 'golden-era' of classic animation, there is a quality there that never can seem to find itself again.

Actually, there's alot of other Animation, which also includes 3D CG, but in the end, we choose one of them for the Major, in the last year.

Reason for choosing 2D is because that is how I fell in love with cartoons in the first place. While 3D looks amazing, one can never replace the magic of animation draw by hand. Like Disney (is a big Disney freak). Hayao Miyazaki's movies are amazing, and in my opinion, can beat any 3D movie, yet it's all done 2D.

So yeah <3

I got the A*s in Chem Bio and Art. I was well chuffed
Then for the rest i got..
A - Physics
A - ICT
A - English Language
A - English Literature
A - Religious Studies
B - Geography
B - History
B - Maths.

Glad theyre over...but now Im on A Levels and there haaarrdd.
