I think that I shall tell the complete story of my adventures in the Mohave Desert. A few years ago I found myself living on the opposite side of the country for reasons that I will not bore you with here. At any rate I had grown up on the east coast and suddenly found my self in the rather warm and dry climate of California. This drastic change brought about a certain fascination for me and any little chance I got I wanted to explore since I knew that my time there was limited. Well at one point I had to drive about 4 hours out of my way to a tiny place called 29 Palms. First let me describe this wonderful town. It was named after supposedly having 29 plams tree in the desert, only I think that by the time that I arrived they had all withered and died a long time ago. It was situated on the very edge of the Mohave Desert and was the only town to date that I have ever been in that still had dirt roads in places. When I asked the hotel lady what there was to do around town she gave a list of like 20 bars and then as an afterthought mentioned that there was a state park a few miles down the road. Given my options I chose the park although it was not hard to imagine what the rest of the locals were into.
So I hopped into my trusty Neon and off I went. I found the park and after paying a few dollars to get in and being handed a map I was on my way. Little did I know that the guy that gave me the map was the last person that I was to see the
entire time I was in the park. Anyways I glanced over the map and decided to check out this old gold mining camp that was set about 2 miles back in the mountains. I noticed that it was getting a bit late but then I figured that would be fine, I mean it is hot in the desert right? This would just make the hiking easier (please note the lack of logic and foresight here). So after some trial and error....the roads were not very well marked and were all dirt so at times it was difficult to see if I was even on a road anymore, I arrived at what I hoped was the right area. I parked my trusty Neon, hopped out armed with a water bottle and my camera all set to explore!
So I started walking...and walking...then some climbing..then some more walking....and yet more walking and I finally arrived at my destination. By this time I was quite tired since most of the 2 miles was uphill, something my trusty map did not mention. Not to mention that I was completly covered in dirt since when the wind did decided to blow it kicked up a ton of dust. So I got there, took some pics and then noticed with no small amount of alarm that my little hike took a lot longer than expected and the sun was almost completly set. Ok so it was time to start back.
So I started and very quickly realized that I was going to be trying to hike these trails in complete dark long before I got even near the car. So in a moment of incredible decision making I decided to take a shortcut (not one of my better ideas). I thought that I could see an area where if I cut across it that it would drop me off further down the trail so off I went...only to trip and fall down a hillside. Thankfully I was not hurt and I got up, brushed myself off and started heading toward where I thought I had seen the other side of the trail. By this time it is completly dark out and I am navigating my moonlight. Not to mention that my imagination is starting to get the better of me and I am just imaging snakes and spiders rearing out of the shrubbery and attacking my legs. At this point I think that I was sniffling a bit because damnit I was tired, filthy and I was positive that there snakes about and where was that damn trail?
Then in a moment that I look back on and realize was sheer luck I ran into the trail which was only recognizable since it was the same rock formation that I stopped at on my way in. I was saved! So I started stumbling my way back to the car. When I finally saw my Neon again I think that I could have cried, I have never been so happy to see my car in my entire life.
And that ends my adventures in the Mohave Desert. Did I mention that I got some awesome pics from it?

Although I don't only drink this I also like both drinks. I always have a thermos flask with tea at school.

es:: It was not that good in my opinion. The problem that I ran into was that I could draw from a picture perfectly but when it came to original work I really sucked. I am sure that there are people on here that are a lot better than I ever was. o_o
