what you need is more contrast. also, try to make it a little sharper, now its so soft and blurry its hard to discern shadows well. and you could probably pick a less vomit-colored hue for the background...

haha, that came out a little harsh... just guidelines and pointers though, i think its great to see more artists attempt anything but cellshading here!
