It just came to me that till now akatsuki keeps working at pairs. At first the pairs were obvious with straight forward jobs and goals, with a conflict/tension between partners like didara-sasori=arts and aspiration of greatness. then hidan-kakuzu=materialistic and spiritual aspects. Itachi-kisame=both trying to change the world...one pro-establishment(itachi) another against it(kisame). Then pain-konan(ppl seem to forget konan a lot)...perhaps the pair with least amount of friction between them(pity 
). Still there was hint about extremist (pain) and moderate (konan) conflict as konan tried to hold back pain at times. Now its madara-kabuto...both of whom perhaps portraying simplest idea at the core of war...personal reasons and interest, not really about any ideal. Also with the advancement of the manga, the ambitions and deeds of the pairs become more and more higher and greater. Itchi-kisame pairs had done more and aimed more than previous pairs about changing their countries. Then pain-konan aimed even higher, doing greater deeds in their country and threatening greater...attacking a foreign country. Finally madara-kabuto pair comes and takes the whole world on...EPIC! When you look at things like that the blueprint of the manga seems really impressive. P.s. My favorite pair is madara-kabuto so far. I wonder if sasuke is gonna go alone or will he have a partner(maybe zetsu) when his turn comes?
