why don't u guys open a suggestion topic so ppl can suggest themes for the next SOTW .

Well, just like Raysen_ht did, you could always suggest a theme in this thread if you have ideas for one. There is no guarantee that we will necessarily use the theme, but we will definitely take all mentioned into consideration.

If you do decide to suggest a theme though, you should probably take a few things into consideration. Firstly, as you can see from checking the Hall of Fame thread, we have not ever used the same theme twice, and we don't intend to start doing that. So, your suggestion would need to be something that has not been used previously.

Secondly, having your theme idea relate to some current event (e.g., "stars" theme for Tanabata, "beach" for summer, "Easter" for Easter , etc.) always is helpful. Thirdly, we try to vary the types of successive themes (e.g., concrete themes vs. abstract themes, nature themes vs. not nature, etc.). Fourthly, themes must be neither too vague nor too specific.

Keeping those things in mind, again if you want to suggest an idea for a future theme, we will certainly accept your ideas, but ultimately we make the final choice as to what themes will be used.

As tsuki said, we are always open for suggestions. We're not dictators (oh a suggestion ). On the contrary, we enjoy all your inputs and we are very glad you are all participating in this crazy, funny stuff

I can not say more than what Tsuki already said. So we're always glad to get and to consider participant's suggestions. One note: make sure it hasn't been a contest before ^^

That's a valable suggestion: wind, water, fire and earth (reminds me of avatar the last airbender ^^) but we have had a nature theme this contest so maybe something else (but this could definitely be a theme for some contests later)

How about a render theme? Where you pick a variety of different renders, and the participants have to use those listed for their sigs?

Hmm... sounds interesting, but I have reservations about that type of "theme." Generally, by theme we mean a "creative concept in which users can express their creativity." Choosing the images that participants may use greatly diminishes the amount of artistic expression afforded to the particpants.

I (and hopefully Koen agrees with me) feel that the submissions in this contest are works of art, and as such, we try to allow the artists as much freedom of expression as possible. Choosing a creative concept and imposing the other rules (i.e., size limitations, submission format, etc.) seems restrictive enough for my taste.

I suppose if there were a large number of users who actually wanted us to choose the images they could use for them, we would consider doing that, but frankly I don't want to do that. (Plus, it would mean extra work for Koen and me, which is something we usually try to avoid as much as we can. )

We have our first submission, someone choose to dedicate his nice sig to naruto. I do wonder what other people will pick ^^ and as Tsuki indirectly mentioned: don't make it yourself too hard this should be an easier theme

submitted my sig i chose batman, mainly because he is my favorite "superhero" who does not have super powers. hope you all like it

Both of the current submissions look very nice.

TeAm#7FoReVer, I like the use of bright, contrasting colors. Plus, I also like that you chose to use the younger versions of Naruto and Sasuke, which is how I view hem on the inside. They may have grown on the inside, but deep down I think of them as still being the same lonely and hurt children on the inside.

kakashi919, your batman signature looks great too! I also see the Joker in the background, and he looks a lot like Kenpachi from Bleach . We were actually discussing Batman in my mythology class last week when analyzing the mythology behind the various incarnations of Batman. Do you have a favorite version of your favorite superhero (i.e., from a certain comic book era or certain movie frachise)? Most people in our class voted for the incarnation from the latest movie franchise, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Also, in some partially related comic news, apparently Disney has bought Marvel Comics, the makers of series like Spiderman, X-men, and the Fantastic Four. I don't how interested everyone here is in Amerian comics, but I thought it might be interesting if you guys didn't know.

he actually is kenpachi lol. yea i like dark knight more than the usual batman because of his darker side. i'm not into american comics as much as manga but i used to watch the cartoons alot

i only hope disney does not do anything wrong with marvel

I agree with you completely on your two following sentences. I also like the darker, more psychological tone of the recent batman movie franchise. The demented portrayal of the Joker by Heath Ledger (R.I.P.) is that of an unforgivably psychopath and was brilliant. I also don't really read American comics, but I did watch the cartoon when I was younger and I still occasionally watch the reruns.
